Thankful for Thanksgiving

I've decided to let Lucas have a holiday and I would write the blog post this week. I absolutely love Thanksgiving - it's my two favorite things all on the same day: Family and Food! Lucas woke up at 8:30 on Thanksgiving, just in time for us to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade together. As you can see from the picture below, he loved it:

Before the parade was finished, we had to get ready to go to Heather's parents for Thanksgiving dinner. I am extremely thankful for my talented wife - she got an idea from pinterest to make turkeys for placecard holders. She made 14 of these things!

After we feasted, we decided to give Lucas a little taste of Thanksgiving with a couple of bites of Turkey baby food. I am also extremely thankful for my little guy - his smile and laughter are so contagious that it could melt all of the world's problems away!

After dinner, we went to go see Lucas' 2nd movie in the theater - The Muppet Movie. He absolutely loved it. He watched almost the entire show, and fell asleep for about 30 minutes. He was so very entertained, and he now laughs when we sing the Mahna Mahna song!

The other person Lucas, Heather, and I are all very thankful for is Amanda. She is the greatest person that we could ever have to bring our family together. Heather and I absolutely adore our little guy, and we wouldn't have had this opportunity if it wasn't for Amanda's amazing heart. We love you, Amanda!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

4 Months Old!

I turned 4 months old this week. Instead of throwing me a party, my parents took me to the doctor. I don't think I asked for immunizations on my gift list, but that's what I got. I guess I am thankful that the shots will help me grow strong and healthy.

Speaking of strong and healthy, I now weigh 14.9 pounds! I am close to 3 times what I was when I was born. Daddy can't believe how small I used to be. I am in the 40th percentile of my weight. I am also 24.7 inches tall - that puts me in the 30th percentile.

One thing that Dr. Z told my parents is that I am big and strong enough to start eating some rice cereal, and then they can start feeding me some vegetables soon after that. I think I'm going to gain some holiday weight over the next couple of weeks!

Here I am being fed some rice for the first time:

I think I like it!

"Orange" you glad?

November is National Adoption Month and we celebrated this past Saturday at the 6th annual Adoption Walk. The theme was "Orange You Glad For Adoption" which explains our orange attire. The walk was super cold, but we had a blast supporting an event that is so important to us! The walk was held at Liberty Park and was filled with adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth parents.

We wore a sign that said "I walk in honor of Amanda and Lucas." Adoption has truly blessed our lives and we are so grateful to Amanda and feel so lucky to have her in our lives! We absolutely love being parents and we'll love our little Lucas for eternity!

My Favorite Things

When I am crying, Mommy likes to sing to me a song - it's called "My Favorite Things." Some of the favorite things in that song are raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. I don't really know what all of those things are, so I thought I'd come up with my own list of my own favorite things:

  • My favorite food is formula. Let's face it, it's the only thing I've eaten so far!

  • My favorite clothes are anything that gets people's attention. I love being told how cute I am!

  • My favorite nickname is Mr. Poopy Pants - it just makes me laugh!

  • My favorite TV show is the Backyardigans.

  • My favorite movie is Footloose (it's the first movie I saw in the theater).

  • My favorite thing to hold is my burp rag. I like to help around the house, so the least I can do is clean up after my own spit up :)

  • My favorite past time is swinging in my swing. It's got a mobile and swings in 3 different directions - who could ask for anything more?

  • My favorite day of the week is Saturday. I get Mommy and Daddy together all day long. It's the best!

  • My favorite time of the day is when Daddy comes home from work. I like to give him big smiles when I see him.

  • My favorite song is "The Ants Go Marching". It's such a silly song!

  • My favorite animal is a kitty, especially my cat, Lilly. She is still getting used to me!

  • My favorite color is azul. That means blue. Daddy is teaching me colors in Spanish.

  • My favorite sound I can make is a growl. I just picked it up this week, and it always makes Mommy and Daddy laugh.

I do have a few things that I am not a fan of. Those are:

  • I do not like it when my bottle is gone, or when I have to burp in the middle. I am not a happy camper then.

  • I also do not like getting put in my car seat. I don't care where we are going - I do not like getting in that thing.

  • And last of all, the thing that I do not like the most, is the blue thing that Mommy sticks in my nose. Is she trying to suck out my brain??!! You can see in this picture that I am giving it the evil eye.

♪ This is Halloween, This is Halloween ♪

I had so much fun this week for my first Halloween ever! We started the week out with a trip to the pumpkin patch. I had so much fun picking out pumpkins with mom and dad, but they were all so big that I couldn't even hold them!!

I also got to go to a Halloween party at my Great-Grandpa's place! He was so happy to see me and it was fun to wear my costume and I got lots and lots of candy... too bad I can't eat candy yet!

On Halloween night, mommy and daddy dressed me up in my costume one more time and I got to go trick-or-treating with daddy while mommy stayed home and passed out candy to other little kids in my neighborhood. I love trick-or-treating and I can't wait until I actually have some teeth and can enjoy this candy stuff!

After I finished trick-or-treating (I went to 4 houses) mommy and daddy took me to another Halloween party! It was so silly to see them dressed up in costumes too!

And then finally, at the end of a super exciting day, I fell fast asleep and dreamed all night long of candy! See ya next year Halloween!!!
