HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADDISON

Happy Birthday Addison. I can't believe you are two! Jon was out of town for Addison's Birthday so we had to wait until the weekend to celebrate. Which happened I ended up working another craft fair, so after the craft fair I shifted in gear and quickly got everything together for a fabulous party. I asked Addison weeks ago what she wanted and she kept saying a soccer ball. (I love the way she says soccer ball too) Any way I decided to theme the entire party after soccer. It was a lot of fun we invited my brother and his family over to a local park. I knew it was going to get dark fast, but no one seemed to care cause the park was lit up. We had a fun and most importantly Addison had a blast.

Don't you just love everyone's black lips?

Turn Down My Music and Listen To This:)

Just last night when I was looking at all the pictures of the general authorities in the Conference Ensign I realized that the way I memorized all the apostles in order didn't work anymore (I memorized this years ago and till this day it has stuck) well I realized I needed a new way to memorized them in order and here it is. I was so excited to find this tonight.

Famiy Portraits

So family portraits are done. Thankfully. It was a lot of fun again and the pictures turned out great. I can't believe that our family is getting so big. I think that means I am getting old. Oh no!

I was going to have to buy new scrubs for the kids this year, so rather then spending 100.00 in scrubs I decided to make them. They look fantastic as long as you stand far away :) No they turned out pretty good. The sad thing is I like sewing but I have to reteach my self to use my machine every year cause I only have about one project a year. I really thought these scrubs were going to be a lot easier then I thought, because I have sewed a velvet Santa Claus outfit, but boy I was wrong or JUST RUSTY! Any way the girls love the scrubs and it was great cause it only cost me $22.00 to make 2 sets. Lots better then spending $100.00.  That again is the frugal side of me. I do anything to save a buck or two in this case $78.00.

This was our family portrait when Addison was born.

This is the portrait that I envisioned it would turn out like. I would watch Alix play with Jon's doctor stuff with a doll and thought that would be the perfect picture and I was even more excited it turned out exactly how I envisioned it to be.

FREE PIZZA FOR A YEAR!

Well last monday Jon and I stood in line to receive a year of Free Pizza at CiCi's Pizza. It is a block away from our house. I heard about it and went three hours early to see if there was a line. No one was there then I returned an hour later, still no one was there there. Finally we all got in line a half in hour before it opened and we were about the 20th people in line. So the first 100 people got free pizza for a year. ROCK ON! So you know where we will be this coming year - At CiCi's!

YOU'LL WANT TO FILE THIS ONE AWAY (IT'S A KEEPER)

DOUGHNUTS

INGREDIENTS
2 (.25 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
1 1/2 cups lukewarm milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup shortening
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 quart vegetable oil for frying

(ingredients for frosting)
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
4 tablespoons hot water or as needed

DIRECTIONS

Sprinkle the yeast over the warm water, and let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix together the yeast mixture, milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, and 2 cups of the flour. Mix for a few minutes at low speed, or stirring with a wooden spoon. Beat in remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. Knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough into a greased bowl, and cover. Set in a warm place to rise until double. Dough is ready if you touch it, and the indention remains.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, and gently roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured doughnut cutter. Let doughnuts sit out to rise again until double. Cover loosely with a cloth.
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Remove from heat, and stir in hot water one tablespoon at a time until the icing is somewhat thin, but not watery. Set aside.
Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large heavy skillet to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Slide doughnuts into the hot oil using a wide spatula. Turn doughnuts over as they rise to the surface. Fry doughnuts on each side until golden brown. Remove from hot oil, to drain on a wire rack. Dip doughnuts into the glaze while still hot, and set onto wire racks to drain off excess. Keep a cookie sheet or tray under racks for easier clean up.

BYE, BYE HALLOWEEN

There goes another year of another good Halloween. Time to take down the Halloween decorations and take out Thanksgiving decorations

.

Halloween Night

Here is Alix her witch costume. I can't believe I don't have a picture of Addison in her Pumpkin outfit. I will have to cheat and snap one soon and add it in later. I am blaming that on Jon cause I asked him to he just got side-tracked socializing with Taylor.

Here is Tayton and Alix (you can actually recognize Tayton this time with no black hair)

I remember my mother making homemade doughnuts while the kids were trick-or-treating. We would come back home and eat doughnuts and have apple cidar as well, so I have to copy my mom cause that was one of many favorite traditions she would do.

Jon took 5 pictures of Stacia and I all at once and sadly to say this is the one I chose for the blog. I figure if one of us is going to look junky we both need to. Anyway Stacia stayed behind with me while Jon and Taylor took the kids out in the neighborhood. It was a lot of fun. I would fry up the doughnuts while Stacia would glaze them. The doughnuts turned out fantastic. This recipe is a keeper.

Ward Trunk or Treating

We attended the Ward Trunk or Treat Activity and it was really fun and yummy. I have to say that the Homemade Rootbeer  and tamales by far was my favorite things there.

Here is Alix's Primary Teacher.

Alix & Lia
Addison as Minnie Mouse
Addison and Guess who it's Tayton with Black spray paint in his hair. I didn't even recognize him he looked so different. :)
The girls were unsure about this Trunk! SPOOKY

HALLOWEEN AT THE BELLAGIO

On Halloween day we went to the Bellagio to check out the Fabulous Gardens there. The girls and especially myself love going. Here we are...

This guy has eyes like my dad. :)

Alix wanted to push Emberlynn all around while Addison had to hold on to the stroller to feel like she taking care of her sister too. I thought it was darling so of course I snapped away.

Addison loved the little fairy flies she kept trying to hop the fence and get a better peak at them.

Alix didn't like this talking spooky tree. His eyes would move and she wasn't a fan.

Emberlynn like always sleeping through all the action :)

Addison noticing the talking spooky tree.

Addison loved this scarecrow.

I LOVE FLOWERS!

When I got back from the Hospital I noticed flowers on the island and asked my sister if they were from her, but as I was saying it I turned right to my husband because for a split second I forgot that Jon has always given me flowers when I have returned home from the Hospital. Totally love you Jon. Thank you for the wonderful flowers.

Jon's parents (A.K.A. Grandma & Oupa) sent me a beautiful plant arrangement which I love cause those are the ones that last forever. They remind me of my mother too because when she passed away I am not lying but our house looked like a jungle in every single room. I have never seen so many flowers in my life. The best part is I loved every single one too and got just as excited receiving the last one then I did the first. But I will always remember that the Golden Stake gave us a large plant and a few other people got us an arrangement of plants. These lasted such a long time and while the flowers were all dying these were still blooming long after. So when ever I give flowers I always try to buy the plant arrangements knowing how much joy they gave me long after everything else died down, So thank you mom & dad for the wonderful plant arrangement.

How Can you really Get Mad?

So I love my girls so much but they do the craziest things that you just have to ask yourself, "How can I really get mad at that?"

The other day I left Emberlynn in her pack-in-play like this.

To come back and find her like this.

So who did it? It's who ever the shoe fits baby! And the WINNER is ALIX (you crazy girl)

The day after Halloween I found Emberlynn like this.

Who did it? Why the kid with the candy in her mouth? We have also seen pizza next to her side. Boy I have to watch these kids like a hawk and so far..... NOT DOING SO WELL :)
