i still say the mailman is bringing my presents...

but Mommy insisted that we go visit Santa anyway.
Here we are all decked out for Christmas!
He makes me laugh all the time!
The giant tree we passed on our way to see Santa. (This is the way I smile now- lovely isn't it?)
While we waited for Santa to arrive I checked out the reindeer...
and put Brother in a half Nelson... I mean gave him a hug.
No tears were shed. We actually both liked Santa. In fact Brother smiled almost the whole time.
I warmed up to the big guy and gave him a hug as we were leaving.

Even after all that I still think the mailman is bringing my presents.

happy birthday uncle charlie!

To celebrate Uncle Charlie's birthday we went to a Japanese Hibachi grill.
Tell me, why do people like going to a place with lots of fire?? I was not a fan.

I liked the onion choo-choo train and when the man tossed an egg into his hat, but the second time the flames came out I hid behind Poppy!
Are you wondering what Brother thought of the fire...well he cried the first time and then held onto Kami's necklace for dear life.

photo update

Brother finally got to try cheerios. He loves them...when they make it to his mouth.

I figured out that if I take out all the pots and pans then I can sit inside the cabinets. Great fun!

Mommy got out a new source of entertainment for brother. He is a little out of control with his jumping!
He also love to bat at the ornaments on the tree like a cat. Don't be fooled by that grin, he is about to go for the tree.
This is my "what snack shall I have today" grin.Brother is everywhere. He can do a traditional crawl now, push up and pull himself up to a standing position. I have not even gotten my new toys and I already feel like they are in danger!
We found lots of great Christmas books at the library. Here Daddy and I are reading a classic while I suck my fingers and play with his ear.

Sometimes Mommy will let Brother and I take a bath at the same time. We wish we could do it every night, but I still have to work on my splash control. Brother insist on being on his belly all the time, even in the bath. We are very different kids.

conversation about santa

Mommy- "Do you think Santa is going to come and bring you presents?"
Me- "No."
Mommy- "Why not?"
Me- "Because the mailman will just bring my presents"

he is on the move people!

He is not doing a traditional crawl yet, but that does not keep him from getting around! He has been doing this for about two weeks now. My toys are no longer safe!

catch up and catch air!

We checked out a new place last Friday- catch air. At first I was a little apprehensive. Lots of yelling kids running around can leave me feeling a little unsettled. Once I found my friend Lil Miss it did not take long for me to warm up to the place.
The ball pit was my favorite part. I can't wait to go back and have Daddy crawl around in those tunnels with me!
Brother is still growing and yes, still very happy.
very,
very happy!
After getting settled and back into a routine after being out of town for two weeks, Mommy decided it was time to decorate for Christmas. I love the lights. I love the tree. I love the garland and ornaments. I love it all. Christmas time is so much fun and I can hardly contain myself when we drive around and Christmas lights are on! Jesus' birthday sure is a big deal!
We are so thankful for friends that made us meals when we got home. I was a big fan of Mrs. Amy's mac and cheese. YUM!
We had a very special guest come visit us last week. We were so thankful to get to see Mrs. Lynn! She is the best!

a letter to nonna in heaven

Dear Nonna,
I miss you already. Last Wednesday morning when we went back over to your house I asked Daddy where you were. He reminded me that you are in heaven with Jesus now. I am so glad that you are not sick any more and that you have a new body. I wanted to let you know that I will love you forever and will not forget you. I also wanted to let you know I will tell Brother all about you. He needs to know what a wonderful Nonna you were to us. I also want him to get excited for when he sees you again in heaven someday.

First, he should know that we call yogurt "Nonna Yogurt" because you are the one that introduced me to yogurt flavored with fruit, rather than the spinach mommy had been using. I am very grateful to enjoy my yogurt now. I also plan to introduce him to bagels as soon as Mommy will let me.

I will share all the hundreds and hundreds of books you have given me so that he will also share a love for reading too. I know you can't read to him like you once read to me, so I will work on learning to read so I can do that same for him.

I will share the outfits you saved from when Daddy was a little boy. I am so thankful that you took such great care of them so that Brother and I could enjoy wearing them as well. I am looking forward to wearing the blue jacket and shorts with overalls for Christmas this year.

I will teach him the importance of calling family. I will call my family frequently the way you once called us. When Brother and I leave home, I will make sure to call him often. I will also ask him questions about how he is doing and actually listen and care the way you did.

I will make sure he says "I love you" to the people he loves. I know sometimes I just went on playing with my toys, but I loved that you told me you loved me all the time.

Even though I loved visiting you in Chicago and at the lake, I look forward to being close by you when we are in heaven. You are just too wonderful to be so far apart from. I will meet you in your garden just as soon as we get it built. It will be a special place for us to meet to read, my favorite thing to do with you. I love you Nonna,
Your Chunky Monkey

this week

We had our last music class for the year. Brother and I have LOVED going each week and can hardly wait for classes to start up again next year. Here we are anxiously waiting for class to start.
I introduced Brother to big boy things this week. Here I was teaching him about cars. Shortly after this I took them away from him because he wanted to use one as a teething toy.

Also, we made a fortress. It was the perfect rainy day activity! As you can see, he was a fan!

Last night I was a big boy and went #1 and #2 on the potty. It was a big deal. Daddy took pictures to document, but I will spare you from those. Here is a little video of me describing it though.

trains, trains and more trains!

Yesterday I took a fun trip with Mommy, Kami and Brother to a train museum! When we first arrived a train horn went off and I told Kami we should go home. It did not take long for me to warm up to the place though.

The trains were huge!

They even had an old fire truck! (I may or may not have tried to go under this rope to get a closer look...)

This was my favorite part! I loved watching this huge electric train go around.

It made Brother laugh with joy too!

The best part of this museum is that you can climb into the trains! Here Kami is showing me where the coal goes...not to be confused with Cole. Checking out the view from the back
This was my favorite engine!
Inside an old red caboose
And the outside of one

All afternoon I looked at the brochure that we got and asked to see these pictures. It was a super fun trip and I am so glad Kami was able to come enjoy it with us!

mid-november

Since the first two weeks of November have already passed by, I have a little updating to do!

Brother is 7 months old and full of smiles... well when he is not in pain with the two new teeth he is cutting. He also got a tummy bug and had to go to the emergency room with Mommy. I guess it really has not been the most fun two weeks for him, but he keeps smiling anyway!
I am a puzzle maniac right now. Here I am putting in the last piece of my fire truck puzzle.
Kami got to join me for music class this week. We had a great time!
After taking a bucket and four ribbons outside and pretending to have picnics all around the yard, Mommy got the clue that I wanted to have a real picnic. So after music class Poppy joined us for picnic by the pond at our church. It was the perfect weather for it!
Poppy and I went exploring after lunch. Can you spot us in this picture?

a good case of the giggles

Add Image

Brother woke up from his nap today and could not stop giggling when he looked at me. We could not resist getting it on video!
