Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a card using the Many Thoughts set from MTE. This set is amazing, and one of my all-time faves. It's up there with the More Big Thoughts set! ;)

I hand-cut the cloud, and used self-adhesive cardstock to make the assembly of the rays a bit easier.

I thought it would be perfect to share a thank you card today, since it is my last post with My Thoughts Exactly. I have been with them since the beginning over a year ago, and it has been fun to see the company grow. Thanks for the fun times, MTE, and I wish you the best of luck!  

PTI blog hop

This is my 2nd post of the day...scroll down to see the card I made last night!

Today is PTI's September blog hop, and I was so happy to have the time to join in after work!

Since it is a fabric/felt challenge, I'm sharing a pouch I sewed and a matching tag (using the same fabric).  I'm not sure what kind of gift you could put in here, but jewelry or a small trinket would be perfect!

I love this fabric- I got it a while ago at Joann's, and it was pretty inexpensive.  Whenever I go to a store that sells fabric, I end up leaving with single yards of a few different prints.  I hoard collect save them for future projects.  Usually a yard is all you need for a pouch, small purse, or a hair accessory.  I have 2 huge bins with random bits of fabric- I love it!

I can't believe I'm bringing this to your attention, but do you see that smudge on the lower right-hand side of the tag?  I accidentally dropped a glob of glue there, and as I was trying to wipe it off it ended up getting dirty.  I thought erasing it might help, but it didn't.  Any tips?

I think that the leaf motif is just perfect for the current CAS-ual Fridays Fall-Themed Challenge.  (oh yea- anyone visiting from the CAS-ual Fridays DT can ignore the above paragraph where I admit that I screwed up the tag. lol!)

This past weekend I was able to visit Laura Pryor, the owner of Lil' Inker Designs.  Not only did I have an awesome time meeting up with her, I was able to check out some of the new goodies being released!

Here you can see the detail on the balloon die (yep- there are 2 layers so you can stack them together!), as well as a new sentiment and stitched border die.  Amazing, right?

Today's challenge at Young Crafters Unite is to use a technique you learned recently, or to share your favorite technique on our project.

You might remember the card that I made for the second round of Gallery Idol this past summer- I used quilling on a card for the first time.  I really loved how it came out, but never tried the technique again because it was difficult and time consuming.  For this challenge I wanted to simplify some things, and give it another try:

• Instead of making my own "quilling paper" out of cardstock (which ended up being a little too thick), I bought a package of quilling paper at AC Moore for 3 or 4 bucks.  
• I did a simple design, instead of the detailed swirled design on my Idol card. ***see note at bottom of post***
• I used thinner glue- Tombo Mono Multi Glue

Here's the result:

 (I'm submitting this card to the Asymmetry Challenge- I've kept most of my elements left-justified, with the exception of the sentiment to balance it out. The washi tape "arrow" pointing to the sentiment helps to lead your eye in that direction)

Cute, right?  If you check out the set I used from Neat and Tangled, "Just Hello," you'll see where I got the idea for the envelope.  I chose to replicate that stamp because it was simple and had sharp, clean edges.

***note:  I know I was trying to act all cool before- saying that I chose the envelope for it's simplicity.  But....that's kind of a lie!  My FIRST thought was to recreate the phone.  I was stamping at Jessica's with her and Suzanne that day, and I think I spent about 30 minutes fiddling around with a strip of quilling paper, attempting to mimic the soft curved lines of the telephone stamp.  One frustrated and crazy outburst later, this is what found itself hurled towards Jessica (not AT her...but in her direction) in a fit of rage:

Yikes.  My suggestion: keep it simple, and everyone stays safe.

Hey everyone, this morning there is a new Runway Inspired Challenge.  Check it:

I was inspired by the colors, the very small grid pattern in his pants, and the black line of his backpack strap.  I used an SVG from my friend Lenae- she has made a whole set of these flip-up tags, as well as a set of flip-up shapes.  You can find more info on how to buy them on her blog HERE.

I just love that you can write a personal message on the inside of the tag, treating it like a mini-card.  So cute!

a non-Halloween card (with Halloween stamps)

I love it when stamps can do double duty, and my favorite set from the most recent My Thoughts Exactly release, Fright Night Friends, is more versatile than it might seem! I love the cute crescent moon and stars, so I made a simple and whimsical little card to celebrate the birth of a new baby:

 

Although it might seem random, I spent a lot of time with the placement of those stars.  I wanted to create movement (cue the Moxie Fab challenge!) by staggering the heights of the stars on the card, as well as their size and whether or not each one was going to be popped up on foam adhesive.

The little lines and bows were hand-drawn (with a lot of help from my ruler!  No way was I going to wing that one....)

A card, my sweet husband, and a drinking game

This is my second post today....you can scroll down to find the first :)

As my post title suggests, I have three things to share with you today.

Number One:  A Card

A second entry to this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge.  If anyone has tips on how to get dry embossing to show up properly in a photograph, let me know.  I can never make it look right!

Number Two:  My sweet husband
My husband made me a birthday card this year.  An AWESOME birthday card!  Other than the circular card base (which he used my circle cutter for), everything is cut by hand.  I'm sure Aimes will know who this little guy is, along with any parents of children who love videogames, or anyone in my generation who grew up with him....Kirby!!

Oh my! So cute, right?!?

Number Three:  A drinking game
A drinking game?  On a papercrafting blog?  Dave found a funny idea online (not sure of the source) to tape a mustache on the TV and watch a movie.  Any time a face lines up with the 'stache, you take a drink!

We were armed with the movie Face/Off (lol), some beers, and a mustache I stamped using a set from SP and Co.  Below are our favorite moments:

Cloud WPlus9

Good morning! Thanks to everyone who left sweet birthday messages for me here and on my facebook page....they made my day for sure!!

Today I am playing along with the Cloud WPlus9 blog hop challenge.  Here's the inspiration:

I love the hanging bird cages, so I incorporated those into my card, along with a sentiment from WPlus9's Hope Seed Co. set.

I had some issues photographing this card, so I took 2- in the second you can see better detail:

I did some subtle dry embossing with my score board, so this card is also being entered into this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge.


I can't wait to see what the other participants have come up with!

iPhone cases

Do you have an iPhone?  Do you have one of those nifty clear cases?  If so, this is for you!

Clear and Simple Stamps has made a handy template so you can stamp your own inserts to slip into the case.  You can download it HERE.

It was really fun to design my cases with CSS stamps- I tried to make them look like patterned paper.

Sorry I don't have an actual iPhone case to show it in action, but I'm sure you get the idea :)
