Shortly after our arrival, Laura insisted I read this "Twilight Saga" with her so she could have someone to talk about it with.  Let's just say for the next few weeks and 2700 pages, the house was a mess, the kids neglected and dinner never made...I had to roll my eyes at the story line a few times and almost quit once, but overall it was a lot of fun - I really enjoyed them and can't wait for the movie this November!

Notice the log banisters and antler chandelier... definitely a true Wyoming rental home. I wouldn't want anything less for our experience here!

Having grown up with a pool in my backyard, swimming is one of my most favorite things to do, but swimming here was an entirely different experience.  We felt like we were at a fancy resort or something - a pool with a view! Its actually just up the street from our house. We will be regulars for sure next summer and hopefully lose those water wings!

We went to a place called Bear Lake two weekends in a row because it was so much fun.  It is about an hour and a half away and sits on the border of Utah and Idaho.  The water is so warm and the sand feels more like mud when its underwater. It is shallow for a mile, so it seems, that you don't worry to much about the kids, and there are mountains all around. Laura and I had fun reading our Twilight books while the kids turned uncle Seth into the mud monster.

We loaded the kids and the buckets in the back of the truck and headed up the mountains.  We were on a hunt for huckleberries.  (We found out that it was a terrible word for the rhyming game.)  Huckleberries are not easy to come by, and if it weren't for the darn Twilight books, I should have been scared of bears, but all I could think of were vampires.  Anyway, we picked a little, and ate a little, all in all I think next time I'll stick with the easier berries to find and pick. Laura and her mother-in-law have gardens with so many raspberries you can hardly pick fast enough.  I think I picked about 6 of these buckets full.  Laura made pies and jam, and I made about 10 large containers of freezer jam.  Some I mixed with those precious huckleberries and some with peaches, and had enough berries left over to freeze for winter and use on pancakes and smoothies. I missed my favorite - strawberries - next year, I guess.  I can't wait to get my own garden in someday. Nothing like eating those snap peas right off the vine.

The week we moved here happened to be the week of the county fair.
The whole town closes early everyday, because everybody goes to
the fair!   This is my niece Bailey, we enjoyed watching her participate
in the festivities. Go Bailey and Rainbow!

Well, we did it!   After many years of trips to Wyoming to visit my sister Laura and her family, and many years of her convincing us to move here, we finally pulled it off. Not to mention, it is beautiful!

One little word: rain! As beautiful as Washington is, enough was enough. We had a wonderful life there.  Farfar & Farmor (whom we will miss most of all), wonderful friends, beautiful home, great outdoors... Who knows - we may end up back there some day, but for now, we are up for this adventure.

We are looking forward to the simple life - no stop lights, traffic, or walmart, and almost no crime. Plenty of family time, cousins, open spaces, fruit and veggie garden, knitting, reading and whatever else I want to do.

Most of all, as all close sisters do, we have dreamed of being neighbors for a long time. Having grown up with no grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and now with 8 kids between us it is a precious emotion for us to get together with our kids and share our lives.  Our kids are so blessed!

Another most of all, sunshine, lots and lots of sunshine!  The sun is out about 250 days out of the year as opposed to about a measly 75 in Washington!

So far so good - check in with me next January when it is 4 feet of snow and 10 degrees below zero!  (At least the sun will still be shining!)

OK... so I am brand spankin' new to this blogging thing and very nervous. I am starting this in hopes that it can count as some sort of scrapbook/journal, since I do neither, but feel that both are important.   I am reluctant to do this in fear of letting others into the mind of Amy and exposing my inadequacies.  I'm startin' out with caution, maybe get more brave later...  Here we go!
