Today....

dont know if i will get a chance to craft this weekend cos.....i'm off to go buy the new sims2 apartment life today & hubby is on a late shift so will be playing on that all afti/night
tomoz hubby is day off so tend not to craft when he is home as it means he is downstairs on his tod and i am 2 floors up on my tod, tend to craft when his out/working.

noticed lately that i am binge crafting, all or nothing. spending time on other things too & cannot fit everything in i want to do, i suppose we are all like that, too many things & not enough hours in our day.
i also need to decide on what to do with the cards which are piling up. a couple of yrs ago i gave them all to charity & its coming upto that time of the year again when they do their charity run, will have to check up on the date & see if i can still donate some cards.
hubby commented on this the other day, not using them just stashing them away.

i dont sell or give to non crafters as they dont really understand how much has gone into them and its confidence knocking too. where i live they only pay pennies for cards which are rubbish and i wouldnt buy them even if i didnt craft, you know the ones i mean...

well i am off to exercise on my wii now, have deleted everything to start over as the novelty had worn off & not used it for a few weeks, aim to use it each day now. have set smaller goals which are doable to keep me motivated. its better than sat on me bum gawping at the box in the corner!!

i'm waffling now so will leave it at that for today

Birthday Card

here is hubbys card i made for his birthday last week. used a dottie image. made a 'hole' then inside the card i added a 'record' behind the hole, which i had run through the bug with the happy birthday folder.
added a strip of acetate to the back of the dancers so they hang forwards and jiggle when you knock them.
when the card was stood on the mantle the heat from the fire made them dance.
hubby likes to rock & roll with his sisters at family parties but i cant get the hang of it lol.
he even had some boppers when i met him and sadly had to recently throw away his last pair as they had seen better days. said he wouldnt be buying anymore though as he is a bit too old for them now lol.

when the card is stood up the 'record' falls back and the 'its your day' & age stands out better. i did consider making an outline for the words but i didnt want those to be the first thing which drew the eye, that was for the dancers.

i love the 'brights' challenges as i use up some of the papers & bits i would not normally use, they tend to be freebie papers from mags. have to think out of the box so to speak. i think they are rather garish but generally suprised that i am pleased with the finished cards, just suppose they are a bit louder than i usually make.

Today....

had a really good crafting day today. hubby was up at 3.30am to go to work and i had sat up all night stitching and watching tv, so went to bed at 5am this morn. had 4 hours sleep then trotted off upstairs to my craft space. it was so tidy and clean it was a pleasure to craft. i have noticed that doing the challenges the cards are more time consuming which i am loving!!
i think i was getting bored and stuck for ideas after doing cards for a while now.
so to all you ladies who run the challenges THANK YOU & keep up the good work. i just wish i could make a card or two each day to actually keep up with the challenges instead of trying to do them all in one day lol. but as i said i have really enjoyed crafting today, a real buzz.
hubby is on an early again tomorrow but i shall be going to bed earlier and hoping to craft again tomorrow.
i have had the music on full blast again singing away, even was dancing a bit while i was on my feet when getting things from drawers lol.
poor hubby was locked out as my key was in the door, didnt hear the phone ringing downstairs that usually gets my attention when i have locked him out. actually heard our dog barking between songs so went down to see what was up with her and poor hubby was on the door step. better make sure to take the key out tomorrow lol.

did the base of the cards but never got round to finishing it off until today. still adding it here though as i did struggle a bit with this one. think it was the paper i chose, but it turned out ok i think. the dark piece is a dark shiny green but it looks very dark on the scan.

made the background 'tiled/bathroom wall' on the pc so i got a pat on the back from myself for that :)
paper pieced & 3d the image to give more depth.
i think this card is so cute.
the dottie images make me smile each time i see them.

this is the second card i made as the first one was an xmas card and i didn't like how it was coming together so went off in another direction.
the folded front of the card actually hangs free and forward when stood up. the 3 flowers are on the 'inside' of the card.
i am loving using up all the scraps :)

good morning fellow sisters 23, a bit about me.
as you probably notice i only type in small letters lol
been papercrafting for a while now and this year is the year i am working on stamping. my collection is building up and costing a bomb. magnolia & penny blacks. also belong to a monthly stamping club which send out a set of stamps and a project with all you need. have been trying diff ways of colouring too, hubby took a bit of convincing i 'needed' a set of prisma pencils which cost £70!!! copics seem to be the thing at the mo but i am resisting so far lol.
we have 3 adult children who have all flown the nest.
i work part time in a salon where we only do cutting/blowdrying, been there 11 yrs.
i dont really say very much on my blog but post my challenges/swaps here. i try to drop in weekly to see what my sisters have been making, sometimes life gets in the way though and its a little over a week.

theme on tilda this week is Christmas, water coloured & glittered using the sketch for s/saturday. the embossed piece is shorter than it should be because as we all know the c/b folders are a tad short. anyway i think it looks ok with the shorter bit. quite like the purple shades for a diff chrisse cards too.

when i first saw this sketch i wondered how i was going to get a large jigsaw piece, ones i had were quite small. so played around with a puch and got there in the end. decided i didnt like the plain piece but didnt want to copy the samples then a light bulb went on so off i went to play on paint shop. result, a corner section of image i was using. different i know but challenge wise pleased with the result, dont know if i will find a use for this card though lol

Colour Challenge

this week had to use pink/green/blue, again used up some old stash. coloured the flower in with pens to get the colour i wanted. the flower is raised which meant the scanner didn't close right down giving the layering (dark blue/white) an uneven look. in real life its straight.

Penny Black this week was to use the sketch, had fun making this and used up quite a lot of bits from stash which i have had a while. bought the p/b stamp yesterday and a set of 'words/sayings' stamps too & used them both on this card

it began with a couple of challenge blogs and couple of cards a week, now the list is getting longer and the pile of cards is growing

some come in handy for birthdays etc, some for swaps, some i just want to keep 'cos i like them' lol
so what to do with the spares?

No Pink

stuck to orange & yellow for this challenge, just added bit of red on hoggies cheeks
did punch the two outer edges of the card but it didnt look right so cut it down and it actually looks better in real life for being a smaller card
will add greeting when i use the card
