Summer is my kind of girl.
The kind of girl I want to love if I were a guy, the kind of girl I want to be - independent, carefree, spontaneous, quirky yet cute.
I loved the show so much because I thought Zooey Deschanel was beautiful in there. Her dressing, her portrayal of the free-spirited Summer.
And I thought she got Love right.
Love is so unpredictable.
Someone can love you so much, put so much effort in it, but if you don't feel it, you don't feel it.
You can't force love.
It comes, or it doesn't.
I love how Love is portrayed as something spontaneous, something that just happens in the movie.
And fate? Coincidence? Who knows?
But I personally feel that they do play a part in Love.
Love comes in different forms. Tom loved Summer, and maybe Summer did love him the same way for awhile, but it quickly changed to something more platonic.
I think Love is special that way.
When you meet someone, and that person brings out that kind of love, the one that is raved about so much, I guess that's when you can fully commit yourself to loving that person.
Just like Summer did.
I feel sad for Tom not getting the girl of his dreams.
But I think those emotions came about only because it was shown in his point of view.
Ultimately, love is a battlefield.
There'll be other people fighting for the person you love.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Other than that, the movie was really nicely shot and produced.
I loved the thought and creativity that went into it.
I loved how it was timeless - it seemed current, yet from some time ago. No years were mentioned yet you know that no matter when it happened, it is so applicable to today.
I loved the scrolling through time, back and forth.
I loved how the lighting throughout was warm and the shots had sepia tones to it.
I loved Summer's wardrobe - vintage skirts.
I loved the little drawings here and there.
And I'm such a sucker for non-contemporary love stories.

- Mahjong on Friday night, barbie at Mat Bay, digging out grass from our rubbish bins, soaking our hands in dettol for a good fifteen minutes, impromptu trip to Tony Romas for ribs, sneaking into a studio recording for Channel 7 Telethon and seeing Samantha Jade perform live (plus other celebs that only the Aussie kids seemed to recognized), being in the same building as K Rudd, going up to King's Park for Mid-Autumn festival, using balloons because we don't have lanterns, fogging up the car with our intimate conversation, swimming for the first time in Perth with Ena!

- YAY I'm back home!
Even though I have been away for only six months, I forgot how humid and hot Singapore is, plainly because it's winter in Perth now.
Oh, and so SO heavily-populated!
Take last weekend at Tampines Mall.
We had to squeeeze between people to the atrium.
It felt as if all 4.8 million residents were there!
Anyway, the first few days were pure torture but I slowly got used to the weather.
Well, I've been living here all my life - though sometimes I wonder how.
Been meeting people and exploring new developments - Orchard Road has changed so much!
Ate lots of local food. And Jap food!
I think I'm getting fat but I don't care!
Time really flies when you're having fun.
Heading back to Perth soon and feeling bittersweet about that.
I'm going to miss my family and friends here (and all the food) but I can't say I can totally break free from Perth and come back to Singapore for good.
In fact, while I'm back here, I do miss my friends there, the environment, weather, and shopping, etc etc.
Life is going to be slightly different when I go back this time though.
I'm gonna miss my lifestyle in college but a bit of me is looking forward to this new chapter.
I worry because there's uncertainty but I'll take one step at a time I guess.

- I turn two today!
Well, my driver's license actually.
Feels like it's been longer than that though!
I miss driving.
And I still love big, heavy, fuel-drinking cars.
But I think my first car will be a tiny one. Tiny orange one. (Think, Nissan March)
Oh I miss Carmelia Toyota Parka-Goh so much!
Anyway, happy second year!
Anddd back to the books!
P/s: I think I'm going to keep this blog just to celebrate my driving license annually. Haha!
