Yew Tee - 25072007

Team Wei Zhu had our grand operation at Kee Hock Seafood restaurant before keet went overseas

The menu

Being a special occasion, how can we don’t have any guest stars appearance! And we have tons of them!!

The star dish once again is the crabs. This time round, we had both chilli crabs and pepper crabs. Not too bad though, one thing for sure the size of the crab is definitely correlated to the price. Why the minimum number of crabs needed to cook pepper crabs is two but for chilli crab is one? Can anyone answer this question?

Chilli crab

Pepper crab

How can we miss out the sambal sotong! The layout of the dish is rather special since it was served on top of eggs

More unhealthy food coming up – Fried Oyster.

Old school dish - Sweet and Sour pork. No matter how many times we had eaten this, we never seem to be sick of it.

Chicken anyone? The chicken wings taste good. Not too salty and oily :)

We had our fair share of healthy food – Mixed Vegetable a.k.a “Luo Han Zai”

More Vegetable. “Dou miao”

Lastly, how can we miss out the beer to make this occasion a fulfilling and memorable one.

Overall, the food was good given the cost. We indeed had a feast!! Guess it will be at least 3 months before the FDP will be back in full force/attendance.

overseas exercise.......

For the first time, Team Wei Zhu has gone overseas in search of pig-outs places to satisfy our ever-hungry taste-buds!!

We present our first forage into our northern neighbour! Charge!

This cup of sugar cane is simply amazing. Look at how huge the cup is. I assure you each cup has at least 1 litre capacity. Plus, the drink is simply cooling and sweet.

Vegetable Cai Sim. Normal and trust me it is really normal. Nothing out of the world.

Sambal Sotong. How can we miss this out? Especially when Sotong is my personal favourite. A tad too spicy but it doesn't destroy my liking for it. Best dish of the evening to my opinion.

Sambal Stingray. Not as good as those which we have uncovered in Singapore but still value for money if it cost around 18RM

Probably the disappointment of the night. KJ commented it was not as good as the one in Keat Hong. True to some extent.

Our first overseas exercise was a good one, considering it was our first attempt. I am confident that there will be more overseas exercises in the future!

Toa Payoh - 05052007

Target: Toa Payoh Lorong 8
Timing: 1943- 2200
Waiting time: at least 1.5 hours

Team FDP has striked again! This time is a seafood restaurant in Toa Payoh Lorong 8. The star of the night is the crab of course!

Jin Sah (Golden Sand) Crab

Butter Crab

Can anyone tell us what is difference between the Butter Crab and the Jin Sha Crab? All 5 of us agreed that both are the same. Even tasted the same!

Guiness Pork Ribs

Ahh...Pork Ribs made with Guiness. Being very adventurous with our taste buds, we decided to give this dish a try. Verdict: Ok only

Stir-fried Kailan with Garlic and Oyster Sauce

Perhaps the saviour of the night. The Kailan tasted fresh and the seasoning was good.

Playful Chicken

If you guys remember, Playful Chicken first appeared in our Ang Mo Kio entry. Apparently, the chicken this time not as playful. Somehow, it didn't taste as good.

And just as we exited the restaurant, keetzai picked up a namecard from the restaurant and realised the ang mo kio and this outlet share the same name. Thus it is a franchise!! Felt cheated right away.

Additional Comment from keetzai: This outlet definitely was a let-down. DEFINITELY not worth the 1.5 years. And someone please ask the auntie to tone down the fan speed. The food immediately went cold when the it arrived. It is a sure no-no.

Our Verdict:
