Outta BMT! =P

Hi everyone, juz visited this blogg after a long while. Didn't know so much activity's been going on.
Guess i missed out quite abit.

Hehe. And for all e guyz out there in tekong. Enjoy ur stay. It's been fun for me. Now i'm OUT. =P
Since I'm out i shld share some insights of the BMT i've been tru. For those who wonder, i'm in Pes C, 7 weeks course
and i'm in since 26 Dec, that's y i'm out now. CheerS. =)

Pes C, e modified BMT programme i'm in, and out now =P, is one of e most relaxed 'training' acitivity i'm been tru.
No running, no pull-ups, no SOC, no IPPT. Basically, no physical training. We spent times in games, Fatigue Duty(basically means unpaid labour) and weights training. And above all, ADMIN--> do nothing.

Becoz of our unusual Pes status, most of our people are either excused lower limb RMJ (running, marching, jumping), upper limb(no push up, and nobody ever does pull-ups in my com) or for some excused strenuous activities(i hav no idea wad tat qualifies, some say... SeX? =P ) So basically, every1 cannot do smthg, for me is heavy load carrying (never really had to carry any anyway).. Therefore every1 is banned from doing things they're not qualified to do, even if we wan to. For eg, RMJ = no route march, no drills, no field training Ex. They cannot do, but havda sit by e side and WATCH, if not they'll prob be assigned some Fatigue Duty(sai gang we call it). Life's a total dread for those excused many things. One section mate of mine banned(excused) everything except shooting, so most of his life is spent sitting around in bunk alone doing nothing but Wait for our return... Mental torture for pple lyk this, but cant help, coz SAF CHARGES instructors if things happen to Recruits when they do things they're not supposed to. Guess no one is willingly to take e risk..

Nonetheless, it's been fun for us, not becoz of all e dreadful boring Tekan sessions from instructors(Sgts and officers), but e funny and nice platoon mates and instructors of ours. BMT is a place where different pple gather from all walks: smart intelligent JCians(scoring 4 As and 2 Ds for prelims..), streetwise gansters(tatoos all over and one hav a court case on hold), overreacting 'kan qiong' spiders(who always gets really psyched up for no good reason) and blur, lovable pple. there's 24 yr old guy, (who enlisted late apparently due to screw up in system no idea y tho) he's an old but lovable man. He's got psychomotor prob, marching pose as a challenge to him at times: putting out left hand with left leg, bouncing his body at every step he takes (picture it =))... above that he displayed entertaining moves as a platoon IC(leader). Unsure and nervous, his frequent response to problems would be to scratch his hairless head and open his Jaw wide. then he gets really flustered when it comes to reporting strength: pressing his fingers against his notebook (dunno for wad) and giving e jaw-opened blur look. Though this gets us knocked down quite abit, but he was too adorable for us to scold him. In addition, my platoon sgt would close both eyes at times when he know it's him doing IC. Blessed man he is.

My platoon Sgt treat us awesomely well. He understands what it feels to go tru torturing BMT, and he hates e unreasonable punishments given in past. Tat's y he never give any of them to us, unless of coz we're loosening in discipline. Motivating and witty he united us and lifted our spirits high by constant encouragement when we screw things up. also he mixed around wonderfully well with us. By e end of course he got so popular with us that he's receiving hordes of gifts(ranging from cigarS to foodstuff and osso e usual guys prank gift, condom) Thus, we're blessed with him as platoon sgt.

My PC(platoon commander) on e other hand turns out to be a devil. He's extremely Garang(means agressive, but war-loving would be better translation in this case) His motor, "Fast as lightning, LOUD as thunder" anything short would result in him ranting loudly and knocking us down. He always speaks in a low, slangy voice with lots of pauses in betw: "Platoon 3,[pause], well done,[pause] u all think[pause] u all going to pass out[pause] then can gimme this kinda SLACKING ATTITUDE ISSIT?!!!! [pause] never mind[pause] know it down." His words are standard and constantly recycled, however he's adept in reusing them as effective tools to make us suffer. He told us from e start of our field camp that his job was to Demoralise us and make our lives a living hell here so it would be memoriable... And he would emphasise again and again by asking us, "Platoon 3,[pause] wad's my job?" and obviously we would always echo "DEMORALISE US SIR!"... dumb but he enjoys. There was once when we were not loud in our field EXercise commands shouting. He scolded us with Lots of curse and swear words and followed up by making us shout continously while marching in battle order on e spot for 15 whole mins. Nobody heard what one another was shouting, we basically made a loud continuous noise, for some, curse word came out naturally with e indignation and frustration welled up inside. That was one hell exp where many lost their voices. He did his job well, many had hell under him.
However towards the end of BMT, he opened up and joked with us, that's were many who hated him got to hate him less. He shared that he wanted all his man to be war-trained and agressive soldiers, reason for all e hell-treatment. Seems abit psychotic when u see him train soldiers(if we weren't pes C, life really will be extreme hell). Guess his 'passion' to train men was e reason he signed on in e army as regular. They say army had quite abit of these regulars... scary. Nonetheless cant deny tat army's been memoriable becoz of him, he's till date still one entertainment source as we imitate all his slangly sparstic Tekaning sessions when we meet up. It's somehow a joy..

Also there're other sideliners and small events tat marked my BMT, nothing spectacular, but overall a memoriable exp. Enjoyed it. Coz i've been blessed with wonderful Sgts and platoon mates for a good life and a Garang PC to spice up my army life as a soldier. hope e other guyz inside teking hav a great BMT too.

now i'm a clerk, having a 8 to 5 job. bookin out EVERYDAY =P. No more tekong, no more jockey caps. i know guyz in there are envious but wait on, u'll hav ur time too.

All e best for ur A's. May it be e best result u ever get, let's not talk uni for now.
Take care. God bless. =)

thats weird how come sirui has another field camp! Thats weird! Such a packed schedule, hmm.. beats me? Duno y well i just booked out from field camp yup its hell as sirui described but i was fortunate to have an officer who looks after our welfare very well. So its easy for us. No rain throut my 7 days of camp though god bless. Ha some weird progression occured this week, well u see conditions are rather thoiugh for many throughout the duration of field camp, many who cant handle the physical demands tend to crack and lag behind. Then there would be some who would unintentionally swear at them, putting the blame on them whenever punishment is given. Hmm... felt comfortable with it, so during lunch i prayed for a remedy. Hours later when my platoon gather for rest, i spoke to everyone, emphasised the importance of encouragement instead of swearing. That by encouraging one another it would then be able to bring out the best in everyone. Every single person was quiet and they listened.
In fact there was another guy who attempted to speak to the platoon and he was booed at , rather sad case there. Poor thing.
Then i sat with the rest. The very next day, words of encouragement instead of the usual swearing and blaming came from any of my platoon mates. Words like PRESS ON. COME ON U CAN DO IT replaced the usual swearing of vulgarities in dialect. Miracle.
On the second night, i was called to meet up with my officer in charge, he overheard what i said from some of the platoon mates. Hmm, felt very encouraged . When more officers came to know about this incident, they keep pestering me to voice out any grievances. Thank god, a soft approach towards them allowed me to persuade them in giving us lesser punishments. It's really amazing, heard from my officer that after all that has happened, many of my platoon mates actually pondered on what i said. I was shocked cos at first all i wanted was to reduce the swearing didnt know it was so effective. Some officers feedback to OC that they enjoyed talking to me hehe... But one thing that many platoon mates and sgts keep asking me was that , Hey why do u look so glum ? Cheer up! Didnt know emotions are revealed on my face that easily! Something new. Got to read my chem now, trying to learn some new stuff. Hope everyone take care. Bye for now.

i second sirui's idea for a chalet, maybe when we all meet back in school to get results, can decide together.
I am leaving on the 9 o clock flight tomorrow, to glasgow for my medical interview, dunno how it will be, crossing fingers, will be back real soon though, 25 feb, by then, i guess we should be panicking cause the papers will be flying back?????
HAHA, if i happen to be on the same flight as our exams papers or make a trip to cambridge.............( flying back from heathrow)........ will try to sneak a peak. highly unlikely though.
i dun think there are i will be having as hard life as the guys, haha, but its early spring late winter there now, averaging 3 degrees a day, will be pretty cold.
see u all when i get back.

ha i slept every lesson la dunno what o.4 cm meant up till now even! really damn sleepy la cos not enough rest. yup got my 11b back thanks so much. of cos shen la, there is gonna be some ue for my fats rite! minimise the recoil yeah. *peace* ha. hey yuying u will be shocked to hear this but i just weighed myself 78.5 kg , 3 more to reduce to acceptable weight 75. Rerally army food sucks so badly that u aint wanna eat them for those who are going to field camp note my mentor in national squad ,some captain, working at bmtc school 1 told me to take Chinese food menu 1 for combat ration cos others are inedible, really. Ha weekiat u cherish simple pleasures, oh dear, u gotta learn how to slack man, don let ur standards drop!

Sleep more, i slept every lesson, so army has not really affected my verbal skills nor my thinking ha. Hows that !
7 more weeks and i will out playing polo and sleeping at home cant wait for that Day to come actually.

ha kk thanks again for picking up my 11B, its like a substitute for an IC basically. An just curious to know weeekiat have u been influenced or rather hooked on to FHM? Just wanna survey haha...( ",)

I misss the days when i was obese feels really weird feeling so light, first time i am actually in the 7O kg range...BLah......

haha oh so it was whiskey coy that was at SOC with leopard on saturday morning? didn't see you around leh sirui. anyway jacob's ladder is real fun! plus parallel bars too! heh, it seems like this blog is getting too army-centric. but well, let me say what I wanna say before I attempt to change the topic.

sirui, don't complain about ur 2.4 timing. I ran 11.01 and that's my fastest timing ever. for now, I can only dream of ur 10.09 hehe... and robin's grouping is either faked or he has to be some shen2 lor. the best I managed was only 0.5 cm only once. got 2 times of 1.0 cm, but nothing else near to 1 cm otherwise. good on ya, robin! PTIs are the most buaysong ppl around in camp, so it's no big deal getting pumped by them. but hmm hmm, their builds are fantastic lah... oh no, am getting a bit 302 here haha! :p for those who dunno what is 302, go ask... robin, have you got ur 11B back yet? one of my platoon sergeants found it a week ago...

gotta go back to my life now. simple pleasures... will definitely cherish them well...
