Gettysburg Pennsylvania (Civil War) Day 18



This is a section of the Cyclorama depiction  of the Battle at Gettysburg 




 At the top of Little Round Top, the hill each army raced to control.

This Monument was to the Pennsylvania Regiment. 

We got to stand on the battlefield where the last battle of Gettysburg was fought.

The different tours provided convenient ponchos. 

Some of us wanted to go rafting after seeing the rapids....

Washington D.C. Capitol (Day 18)


 J taught our tour guide the history behind the Magna Carta
 They were in the process of fixing up the dome of the Capitol...hence the scaffolding.

We also got to go to the Museum of National Archives where they keep the original Constitution and Declaration of Independence.  Unfortunately, pictures of the actual documents weren't allowed...

Colonial Williamsburg (Day15)


One of the most exciting parts of the day was watching the Virginia regiment march.

 In the brick yard, the boys got to help tread the clay.

 We got some good boot camp musket training.

 As expected the boys ending up getting into mischief.

 I think the blacksmith was one of the favorite.

White House

We walked a looooooong way to see the white house, so we were quite tired...

Since we were all so tired, Dad ran around to the back to take a pic. while we walked to the train.

National Museum of American History (Day 14)

 M figured out how the projector worked and reinvented it.

 but it was totally worth it to put up with the crowd.
