In January 2007, I weighed 420 lbs . In February 2009, I was down to 255 lbs and within 100 lbs of my goal weight. I couldn't get the scale to budge and gave up. By August 2015, I hit a personal high at 442 lbs. Now I'm on a renewed journey to health.

December weigh in

Bad news:  I put on four pounds this month, but it's the holidays. I also made some decent food choices and physically felt bad when I didn't.

Good news:  I'm wearing clothes that I couldn't wear when I bought them a couple of years ago. I have a new favorite pair of jeans!

On to 2016!

November

I can't believe I lost weight in November! I was in Vegas a week and then there was Thanksgiving week... I did walk a lot in Vegas though (8 miles one day), and I did split a lot of meals and added a lot of vegetables. So grateful for the weight loss. It looks like I can reach my end-of-the year goal to be in the 300s!

Goals

Just took a look at my goals and added one: Be under 400 lbs by the end of 2015. I am on track with all of my goals except for the last one: Be more active. I am in a lot less pain when I walk, and that's great. I'm even starting to enjoy my mobility more, but I do need to start my "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD on a regular basis so that I can get back on the treadmill again. That's been on my mind quite a bit lately. I want to keep losing weight and feeling better. I know exercise will help with those goals.

Some celebrations (not attached to the scale):  Some chairs around my workplace that I used to feel pretty snug in aren't as snug anymore!  Yay! I also fit better into my hair stylist's chair. These small things make me very happy.

traveling

I'm traveling through Tuesday. It's so tough to eat healthy on the road, especially when I'm reuniting with old friends. Every meal is a celebration. I haven't gone over my allowed calorie count, but last night I had some fried foods for the first time in weeks. I would have preferred vegetables, but they weren't on the menu. I'm hoping for a good salad today.

Down 6 pounds!

I'm trying not to be as obsessed with the scale as I was the last time I lost weight. I allowed the numbers to affect me too much. Even when I lost weight, I obsessed that it wasn't enough. And then when I got to 255 lbs and didn't budge for months, I just gave up. I want to weigh in just once a month, but I hopped on there today, after just one week of my last weigh in. I've lost 6 lbs since last week! That was exciting. I also entered it into my Lose It! app so that the calories would adjust.

I do have to keep it in perspective though. Weight loss is just one sign that I'm getting healthier. I also need to focus on fitness and toning.

Renewed Journey

Hello again! I had to do a lot of investigating to find this old blog, but I'm glad to be back. A few weeks ago I had a personal experience that scared me enough to get my health straightened out. Perhaps I'll share that experience when it's less raw. Right now I'm recommitting to cut calories, recording my food intake everyday on Lose It!, adding more fruits and vegetables to my diet, and walking more.

I look forward to walking a 5K four to five days a week; that's what I was doing at my highest fitness level when I got down to 255 lbs a few years ago. My husband and I went on a 1-mile hike yesterday, and it became very clear how far I have to go. I also got my new before photo :-)

Down 5

Well, I'm down 5 pounds and half an inch around the waist.  I didn't get started at the very beginning of the month, but I did eventually wake up and start "doing right."
