Door to Door Sales People

Yesterday I was talking with friends and something was said about people in the area that come to the door to sell cleaners. Guess who just came up to the door? You guessed it. This is the third time I've been hit up for their crap!!!
Cole was just on his way in the door when she caught him. She pretended like she was lost and needed help to find an address. Then she laid it on thick! Cole is a sucker and listened to the whole thing. She asked Cole what the hardest thing is that he cleans and he said built up oil on the engine. She knew there was no way her cleaner was going to work on that so she said "oh you don't clean, let me talk to the lady of the house." He said no three times. She asked to talk to me again. He said my wife can't come out she is nursing the baby. She said oh it won't bother her, I'll just run in. She walked inside leaving Cole outside on the porch. Cole started making faces and freaking out behind her because she was so bold to walk in our house, and leave him out there. She sat down next to me on the couch, and introduced herself to me. She said " I know you don't want anything, just meet a friend." She asked if I was LDS and I said yes. (She used GD 30 times. If you're going to play the Mormon card - learn the demographic!) Then she started to try to sell me cleaning stuff. She again said, I know you don't want to buy anything, just listen to this. She tried to tell me that she just sold it to the bishop. Then she opened her wallet to show me names of people on checks that live "just down the street from the bishop." I kept saying "I don't know that person."
A few minutes into it I was fed up and said "I am really not interested." She replied "Do you like to help people? and I mean REALLY help people?" I said yes. She said "then let me tell you something." Then she went on to sell it to me again!!!!!!!!!! I cut her off and said "Let me tell you something, while I do like to help people, if I don't have the money, I just can't do it." She continued to try again. So I cut her off again and said real slowly, so that she would get it "Will you just answer me this question. Are you, or are you not, trying to sell me something right now?" She finally said that she was. I told her I don't want it, and I don't want to hear this, and I don't want you in my house! This is what topped it off. She got up (which she wasn't invited in in the first place) grabbed her stuff and said "AND HERE I THOUGHT YOU WERE LDS, A KIND HEARTED TYPE OF PERSON. YOU ARE STIFF GIRL! YOU ARE ONE STIFF KIND OF GIRL!" She kept repeating this while leaving. Can you believe that? She wreaked of alcohol and was saying GD every other word - and she was in my house, on my couch, streaking her dirty fingers on my stuff to show me that her cleaner works.
I can't believe the audacity this lady had. To imply that I'm not a good Mormon just because I am looking out for myself AND my family by not spending the money that I don't have on her garbage.
Needless to say, this is a sales experience that I will never forget.
Have you ever experienced something like this? Sales person or not, turning your religion around on you to try and make you feel like you are something that you are not? I am still bewildered!
If they come to your door, get a pamphlet with a number. I only wish I had someone to call.

Wasn't it such a nice night?
I loved it

Should be

I should have my face washed
I should have my teeth brushed
I should have Ella in her bed so I'm not typing with one hand
I should be in bed
I should be fast asleep

Instead, I'm blogging

I can't help it
I love to do it

We got to see family that we havn't seen for awhile and it was a good time. I always love to get together with Cole's extended family. They are all so nice and fun to be around. I love to watch Cole with his cousins, and I especially love to watch Tate play with them.

I saw the golf cart go by out of the corner of my eye. Then I heard my favorite little voice coming from it saying "Mom look at me!" It just made me smile to see him on it, so obviously proud of himself for daring to ride it.

He is my favorite little person in this world...

The other day Tate came up to me and said "Mom, you want to see my bad face?" I was a little worried. I didn't know what I was going to get. This was it, and is now what he calls his BAD FACE! Don't ask me where he got this idea - I never know. =)

I could watch him for hours. It never gets old. He is always saying or doing something that is so funny to me.
It's a mom thing I'm sure, but I love to see my son interacting with others and making friends. Kids amaze me in this way. They want to become everyones friend. It's sad that we slowly loose this ability the older we get. How sweet would it be if we all treated strangers like our friends?

Mom's Birthday

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mom's birthday. She is not only the best Mom ever, but she has become my best friend. I love to hang out with her. She is so kind and loving and always has nice things to say. I love her for these reasons. It's uplifting to be around people that don't have negative things to say. She is a great example to me. I hardly remember my Mom getting mad, even with all four of us kids under the age of five. She is a great friend to me, and to many others. Thanks Mom for always being there for us, for teaching us the things that are important in life, and for always keeping your chin up! We love you!

6 Weeks

My girl is 6 weeks

She is weighing in at 9 lb. and is as beautiful as ever!

She is smiling all the time now. I love it. I'm finally starting to feel a strong connection to her. It took me awhile and I felt really bad about it. Now she melts my heart.

She has been such a good baby since I took her off of formula. This must be what it's like to have a baby that isn't in pain and is just content... It's fantastic! I'm crossing my fingers that this will last.

Broken Heart

My children are so strong willed! I just hope they will be strong willed, AND obedient! Tate is really struggling with this right now. Cole keeps telling me "he was just like me when I was young." It gives me hope because I'm happy with the way Cole turned out. My little guy has quite the temper. How do you teach a 3 year old to control it? (I'm really asking if you have any ideas.) The poor kid is starting to hate me. He keeps telling me "I not love you Mom!" Talk about a broken heart! It made me sad, but I blew it off. Then I was talking to Cole telling him how he's been telling me this. Cole said "I know, when you were at the grocery store he was saying that to me." SAD!!! I know he doesn't really mean it because I'm an awesome mom =) but I feel bad because I am after him for everything. But they are things that I can't let him get away with... yelling, biting, hitting, kicking etc.
What do you do?
I've tried: the one, two, three thing.
Giving him two options that both work for me.
Spankings - which don't work for him. He only spanks me back, and then I'm ticked!
Time out.
Calmly talking about what he did.
Taking things away.
Choosing what I really need to get mad about and praising him for all the good things he is doing.
Nothing is working. I hope it's a phase.

Who would have known that from Halloween to now, he really would become my little devil!
I'm making him sound worse than he really is, but I won't lie - He has a temper!
(How many times did I say but in this post?)

Please comment, I could use any ideas!

Did It

We were at the park yesterday getting sunburned in 80 degree weather, and swimming today at the indoor pool in Lehi. This weather is crazy. The toys in our back yard were being blown around and it even blew my screen out when I ran out to save something from the wind. Could have been the strong wind or the fact that it's taped in - I don't know!

Tate walked around for a good five min. watching and observing before entering the water. I could tell he really wanted to, but wasn't sure.

I eventually carried him in and he loved it for about 15 minutes. Then he was done and ready to go. He doesn't really like the water so I was proud of him for giving it a go!

This pool is really fun for being inside. It was my first time there but I'm now wishing I had taken advantage of it more during those winter months. Good to know for next year right?

Greatest Find

This is the best kitchen gadget I have got in a long time. My mom turned me onto it and we had to have one for ourselves. It will peel, core, and cut the apple for you. Tate loves to do it all by himself. The only rule is that he has to eat as many apples as he peels! I love it because he won't eat an apple with the peel on it, and I hate peeling them with a knife.

Another Day

So it's the end of another day!
A great day I might add.
The sun was shining.
People were out.
The sweet smell of BBQ filled the air.

Scootin around with sweet shades on.

BBQ at Grandmas
If he had it his way, he wouldn't have any clothes on.
Side note: He loves to pee outside now. He had to go one time when there wasn't a bathroom and now he's always wanting to. Cole caught him in the front yard in the bushes. It's hard not to laugh - but it's quickly becoming a habit and won't be funny for long. He prefers the "great outdoors" to the bathroom - Taking after his Uncle... I won't say which one. My little boy is not so little anymore!

5 weeks
They look so much alike

Info Blog

You should all check out this blog Random Tips from Karen. I met her in Nicole Hills photo class and I'm still checking her blog almost daily. I think most girls will appreciate all her recourses and heads up on great deals. Just thought I'd share.

Fun Snack

I love finding fun ideas on blogs. Thanks Tutus & Turtles for this fun snack idea. Tate loved eating the "sail" and "boat" from the toothpick. A great idea to get him to eat a healthy snack instead of the constant begging for anything junky. He kept saying "you wanna make some more sail boats with me?"

Running

It's time for me to start running. I saw this video and it got me excited to get out and start running again after 9 months. This sums up my feelings, I love it and I hate it.

Last year we ran the Herrington memorial 5k and fun run. It's on memorial day again this year. If anyone wants to do it Rachel will have more information. It's going to be a good time.

Conference Weekend

Some people have been fortunate enough to witness a small quirk Tate has. I say fortunate because I think it's so funny. For those of you who have not, let me explain. He has a fear of balloons blowing away. This is no small fear by any means. It's as if his world is coming to an end. He will wrap a balloon around his wrist so tight that his little hand starts to loose circulation. I have no idea what started it, and who knows when it'll end. I'm going to get it on video and it'll be played at his wedding - Weird little boy! But we love him.

So yesterday Cole set up our new tent to check it out, and Tate has been dying to play in it. What we didn't foresee was the reaction we would get. He thought the tent was going to blow away in the wind. He cried forever. It was so hard not to laugh. Later, when we were in the house I said "Oh no Cole, the tents blowing away!" Tate freaked out! It was hilarious, but Cole didn't think so.

He eventually calmed down. He brought his pillow and blanket out to put in the tent. Later I said it's time for your nap. He told me he already did in the tent with Dad! He's always trying to pull a fast one on me.

P.S. Cole - you are HOT!

Bags

I took a good close look at my eyes this morning and I look like I got in a fight. Not only are they blue, I've got the bags to go with it! So yes - I am tired. These nights are kicking my butt!
I know my freckles are hot!
So here is a solution I'm thinking about: New skin products.
I was at the Dermatologist a few days ago and they carry this: revaleskin
Sounds great! I wonder if it
really works?

Where's The Wind?

For Christmas Cole wanted a kite. He has been so excited to fly it. I know, totally childish! =) But it turns out it's not childish at all. The other day we were driving and saw a kite flying. As we got closer there were four kites, all being flown by adults. One guy was sitting in his lawn chair in his front yard with his fishing pole attached to his kite. Then about 10 feet down the road we see this lady running across a field chasing her kite's string. She fell three times in attempt to get it. Then this man comes running and got it for her. It was intense! =) So even though we had attempted that morning to fly ours without success, we thought "for sure we can now - look at all the kites people had up!" So we went back and tried again. It went up a little better, but not for long.

This is our first attempt.
Cole did more running than the kite did flying!

The Black Pearl herself

Then we played at the Park.
This may not look like it's that significant of a picture but it is. Tate is going to be three this summer and this is the first time he has sat in a swing and not screamed about it. When he was little I pushed him in the swing and he almost fell out. Let's just say he's been traumatized for a long time!
