January Brad and I and the Bowles were able to escape for a few days to visit my sister Kelsey. She is working in the Disney College Program as a photographer at Disneyland and California Adventure. We were able to get in for free and enjoyed 50% off all retail and 20% off food so we couldn't help but go! We left Friday morning at 4:00am and got home Sunday evening. It was a short trip but without the two girls, traveling was super fast and after riding all the rides, we were ready to come home and relax.
It really was the perfect time to go. The longest wait was 15-20 minutes and the weather was beautiful. We stayed in a newly remodeled hotel (Cortona Inn) about a few blocks away so we got our exercise by walking to the Park both days. Some of the highlights included: eating waffles and egg McMuffins with Sausage Gravy every morning, getting a free warm Mission corn tortilla every time we walked to the Pier on CA Adventure (Brad got a whole pack b/c we were celebrating his b-day), having Kelsey tell us all the secret in's and out's of the Parks/history, Splash mountain (staying on it and getting drenched. I was in the front both times and was as wet as I'd be if I jumped into a swimming pool--not so fun for the rest of the night). We also got the delectable Dole Whip in Adventureland. Anyone who's been to Hawaii and the Dole Plantation knows what I'm talking about. I have to admit that it wasn't quite as good as in HI--it had the same pineapple flavor, but this one was more creamy and fluffy. Oh well, it still satisfied our sweet spot. We also had fun watching Miss America Saturday night while eating pizza, pasta, and salad in our hotel room. Thanks so much for a fun weekend Kelsey! It was a much needed get a way from the girls but I was so excited to see them! Thanks Mom K for offering to watch them too! Brooklyn had a blast riding horses and hanging out with their aunts!
bummers of the trip: 1. Kelsey didn't have work off both days because she thought we were coming the following weekend. Yes, BIG miscommunication on my end...OOPS! It all worked out just fine but I had to redeem myself big time after that little mixup....
The four of us! Thanks Kelsey, sorry you never took our picture when you were on the clock!
Tower of Terror. I can sense the fear...
We ALMOST got to ride it just the four of us because there was no one there...oh well!
This ride rocks! One of my favorites!
Riding the elevator from the parking garage to Downtown Disney.
Riding the escalator again. A lovely picture...
Weekend Fireworks! Such a long, cool show! Love the Mickey Mouse explosions.
Oreo. Yo blonde sista's, where you at?
