Listen up!
I got an email from my friend Karina yesterday informing me that I need to start blogging agan...so... I am back to blogging! I hope you enjoy them! Read below to find out what we have been doing lately...
Staying Strong
February has flown by! We got back from the States and then I had my operation and then I started school and suddenly, it is almost March! But March means we are one step closer to spring and that is all I want right now! This man, my husband, has shown me such strength and endurance this month. He is absolutely incredible and here is why I say that...The same week that I had my surgery, I found out that I was about 4 weeks pregnant. We have been trying for about a year and half with no luck. We were so excited about the news and we tried our best to keep it to ourselves.
Kjetil had also applied for a accounting job here in Norway and had a great first interview. We felt confident things were working out and we were looking forward with hope and faith.
And then I started bleeding. About a week ago, just a little and then a little more and then enough that we headed to the ER. (of course this was RIGHT after we told his family...) The doctor said there was nothing they could do, told me to get a blood test and sent me home. My emotions seemed to change with the amount of blood but I tried to stay strong. Another blood test on Monday and then the results. Miscarriage. There was nothing they could do...nothing I could do either.
On top of that, on the exact same day, Kjetil found out that they had chosen someone else for the job. Talk about being taken by suprise.
The last week and a half has been so difficult. We have cried, we have discussed, we have prayed and we have just shrugged our shoulders and decided that we have two options. Take what life gives us and move forward or be angry at the world. I am so grateful that I have a husband that trusts in the Lord, I am grateful that he is strong and that he doesn't give up, even when the world seems to be out to get him.
And I am grateful that I have received the peace that I have desired so much. I feel like I am doing ok. I have cried and my heart hurts for the dreams that we have literally lost in a matter of hours but I feel confident that Heavenly Father will bless us. And I feel confident that Kjetil and I can overcome anything as long as we stand together.

Presents please...
It has been awhile since all of Kjetil's siblings have been home at the same time. I think it might have been last Christmas since we were all there. Since Farfar had his 80th birthday, we all came to Stavanger for the weekend. Hilde came down from Bergen and Morten rode in our car with us. Both of Kjetil's siblings have their birthday in March along with his dad. And since Mothers Day in Norway is celebrated in February, we came bearing gifts...
Erna seemed rather pleased with her top and matching jewlery...
It is always such fun to receive gifts!!!
And this man...he LOVES to give gifts. He is a giver and he gets such joy from giving. We even suprised his mom by showing up in the early afternoon instead of coming late at night. She almost couldn't believe her eyes!
Morten and his dad both got similar gifts...
Farfar Harald turns 80!
Last weekend we headed over to Stavanger to celebrate this man's 80th birthday! He tried to to tell us in his speech that he was only 18, but we didn't buy it!
Harald Mangor Olsen is Kjetil's grandpa and he is absolutely delightful to be around. He was a train conductor for years and he has worked hard throughout his life. He is kind and loving and patient. Just like my father-in-law and just like my husband. My father-in-law told a story about when he crashed his dad's new car as a teenager and his dad was very patient with him. Kjetil then thanked his Grandpa because when Kjetil crashed his dad's car, he was also very patient with Kjetil! All the family got together for a delightful dinner. My mother-in-law Erna did a great job organizing everything and everyone har a great time! Sara is Kjetil's cousin and she was my little buddy all night. She was a little on the tired side and just snuggled right in when I picked her up. Isn't she adorable!?
Gratulerer med dagen Farfar, vi er kjempe glad i deg og setter stor pris på deg og Farmor! Klem fra oss :)

There were a few speeches, his Grandma Kirstine gave a beautiful speech about the great man that she married. She told us that they have never been real open about saying I love you and showing affection but she said as she was going through some old letters that she found from Harald from when they were teenagers, he told her often how much he missed her and how he loved her so. It was quite touching and I am positive I saw tears in Harald's eyes.
Kjetil sang 2 songs and played 2 piano pieces for his Grandpa. He did such a wonderful job. Kjetil is the oldest grandchild on both sides of his family and his musical talent is greatly appreciated!

You need to floss...
My brothers got me a really awesome present for Christmas this year. My brother Ben came home one night and was so excited to tell me about the gift he had gotten for me. He didn't tell me what it was, but he was giddy like a little kid.
On the top of the box was a card, explaining their gift. They told me that since I was going to become a dental assistant, that I would probably need a lot of floss. They were hoping that their gift would help me...
I opened the box and what did I find...
Floss...
I just don't think THAT kind of floss is going to help me in school though!
(For those of you that don't know, Americans sometimes refer to thong underwear as butt floss. Not the best mental image but describes the underwear rather well...)
Oh, and Kjetil got hot dogs and bacon from Benjamin. Why? Well, because he is Norwegian and he must love bacon-wrapped-hotdogs. Or maybe that was Benjamin!

Multnomah Falls
On our way up to Portland Oregon, we made a stop at Multnomah Falls. I LOVE this place.
As you can see, it is a pretty impressive waterfall. And it is pretty high. It is possible to walk all the way to the top but the weather was horrible that day so we just went half way. We are on that bridge, it is just hard to see us!When I was a little girl, we went here for one of my birthdays. I had gotten new church shoes, cute little black paton leather shoes and I wanted to wear them on the hike. Worst idea of my life. I cried and whined and complained and moaned and groaned all the way to the top. I made the hike miserable for everyone else because my poor little feet were killing me in my cute little shoes!
Baking Cookies
My Grandma Marj throw together a cooking making day for all the Great Grandchildren. Everyone got their own apron with cute little gingerbread men and then they got to make cookies for Santa. Aren't these two absolutely adorable? I sure do miss those little faces!

A new journey starts today...
Today was my first day at school at Utdanningshuset in Oslo. Kjetil and I caught the train at 8:34am and made our way into Oslo. People aren't always real aware of others on trains so I tried to make sure my crutches were easy to see but it was still a little tight.
Once we got into Oslo, we had to switch from the train to the subway...not as easy as it sounds. And after a short ride on the subway, it was up a few streets, down a few streets and then over to the correct building.
It is probably about a ten minute walk...it took me closer to 30 minutes. My knee was as big as a basketball when I got there. Kjetil did such a great job walking with me, encouraging me and helping me up to the third floor. My appreciation for him and the way he helps me grows with each day as I seem to need more and more help! After that, I was on my own. And I was just a little overwhelmed.
I have been so excited to start school but my knee hasn't been as excited! I told Kjetil last night that I feel like I am starting a "new life". It has been a long 6 months since I injured myself and I have been mostly alone during that time. It was slightly strange to be around other people today. There are about 10 other girls in my class. We were given a schedule, books and a little info on what we can expect. It only took about 2 hours...and then...
Yep, a 30 minute walk (with a backpack full of books), a subway ride and then a train ride, a short taxi ride and then - I passed out on our couch.
This new adventure is proving to be rather painful at the moment. Tomorrow, is my first class - Anatomy. If someone could pass the message onto my knee that we will be doing this everyday for the next 4 1\2 months, I would really appreciate it!
