Family Update

I've been really bad at updating the blog since Colin's arrival! Balancing two kids has actually been a ton easier than I thought, but in my spare time, I rarely just sit around at the computer! Meredith has adjusted so well to being a big sister, she always makes comments like "I love being a big sister" and "I love that I have a little brother." She is so much help, and really wasn't phased at all by such a big change in her life. Colin has also adjusted well, he's a great baby! He's not much of a napper (even though I make him nap because mommy needs it!) but he sleeps great at night. He is 7 weeks now, and we are getting up about one time a night.

As far as other updates, Meredith just started summer camp/preschool at a local church. It's a 6 week program, and so far she has loved it. It has accomplished exactly what we were hoping, to remove some of her excess energy! Colin recently started smiling, which I love, and also making some sweet cooing sounds along with his usual loud grunts. He also is starting to hold his head up for extended periods of time. They grow up too fast!

First Week

Well, we made it through the first week! Colin has been a great baby, and Big Sissy Meredith has been a fabulous helper! She will get diapers and put in passies, and just seems to be acting like a different child overall since she is the "big sister" now. Colin has been sleeping and eating great, and just has a very "chilled out" disposition. Here are some pictures of our first week at home.

Colin's Here!

Colin came into this world on Thursday, May 6th at 3:37 in the afternoon! He weighed in at 8 lb, 8 oz and 20.25 inches long. Labor was super easy, and he arrived only after a few pushes. Meredith is super excited to have a little brother, although I think she thought he would be born and come home able to play with her toys, take baths with her, and eat snacks! Here are a few pictures of his arrival and our new family. I never thought I could love another one as much as Meredith, but oh how I was wrong!

Last Weekend Pregnant

Since our induction date for Colin was set for Thursday, May 6th, we decided to fill the weekend before with fun family events! We got Krispy Kreme donuts (Meredith's favorite), went to Pepper Place, and then to Wald Park on Saturday. Then on Sunday, we watched Cinderella (another one of her favorites) and ate popcorn! This is one of the only pictures I got of me fully pregnant (about 39 weeks) so I thought I would post it just to have the memory, even though I don't like seeing myself this HUGE!

Update on Colin & Oh Suzy-Q Designs

I just made FOUR POSTS so be sure to scroll down and view them all!

Just wanted to post an update about Colin's arrival. Looks like his birthday will be Thursday, May 6th unless he comes on his own before then! My intuition is telling me that he won't come on his own, so I'm totally content with the 6th and basically have everyday planned until then! But I know God is in control, so I'm open with the idea of being surprised (although, it will send me into a tizzy!) We are so ready to meet this little guy. I can't wait to see what he looks like, and how Meredith will interact with her baby brother. I can already tell his personality is totally different than hers. Meredith was wide open in the womb, and came out not wanting to be swaddled or cuddled all that much. But Colin has had his little bum shoved into my left side for the past 4 months, so much that it makes me look lopsided. It apparently is so noticeable that people stop me in the mall to make a comment about it! He squirms around alot but seems pretty content in his comfy little nest.

As far as Oh Suzy-Q Designs, I'm planning on beginning my maternity leave on May 1st. That will leave me time to ship out any last minute orders before Colin's birthday. Hopefully I won't be out of commission too long, I guess it depends on our adjustment to a new baby in the house and how much sleep I'm getting. =)

Baby Shower for Colin & A Fun Surprise!!

A few weeks ago, some sweet friends hosted a small baby shower for Colin. I was so appreciative and didn't really expect anything more than a dinner at Pablos and some diapers! But wow, it was so nice what all they went out of there way to do. The food was fabulous, the decor was so cute, I got some fabulous gifts for Colin (too much!), and to top it all off...they managed to get my best friend Sara down to Alabama all the way from Maryland--WITHOUT LEAKING A WORD! I was SO SURPRISED! And for those who know me really well, I'm not really a fan of surprises, and actually am way too intuitive and tend to over-analyze and figure things out. I guess pregnancy brain lended to me not having a clue! Apparently this had been in the works since February. Anyways, this was one of the best surprises I've had in a really LONG time. It was so fun to have her at the shower, and get to spend a girls weekend shopping, eating out, and relaxing with her right before Colin arrives. Thanks for such a wonderful time!

Meredith's New House

My parents got this for Meredith at Costco as an early birthday present. Instead of waiting until September when the weather won't be as tolerable for outside toys, we decided it would be good to go ahead and set it up for her. She LOVES it, so much that she actually wants to go out on the deck at 6:30 AM and play in her house in her pajamas! This will be great to have once Colin is here, because she can play on the deck alone and I don't have to be outside and can watch from the kitchen. I would have loved to have something like this as a little girl, I know she has to think it's the coolest thing ever!
