Recycling Books?

I can't quite believe that this is my first layout of 2015.
I even went to a crop last weekend but didn't scrap.

To be honest, I only JUST pulled this one out of the bag too.
You see, my house looks like a craft shop at present.
Every downstairs room has a stack of items to sell.
Luckily for me, my family are very understanding and despite
walking into it and knocking it over, they seldom "tut"!

Anyway, CH#2 on the Counterfeit Kit blog is to create a project using an old book/newspaper/magazine page.

Recently I have been creating folded books
and in the process raising money for The Child to go to Nepal with
her Fire Cadet group in November.
They are heading over there to build a school for the children in the mountains.

I also sell patterns for you to fold your own book so you can honestly say that you handmade a gift for someone special.

But, this is obviously not scrapbook related (although I suppose it is a project)
so I got my thinking cap on, took a look on Pinterest and found some origami ideas...
I think the butterfly is a little too big so I used the clever little heart bookmark
and created....

Tutorials for the butterfly and heart can be found HERE and HERE

How will you use a book page(s) on your project?
Do you agree with altering books or should books just be used as reading material?

Make sure you link up so we can all see your creations.

Forgeries on the Fourth

On Thursday I promised I would be back with my Counterfeit Kit forgeries.

Remember these bits in the kit...

well here is how I created mine...

My little machine helped me to cut my words from some gold card stock...
(not the best photo!)

...before I hunted for a different bit of stash that I just knew was hanging around somewhere.
A friend, quite sometime ago, gave me a very thin sheet of "wood"...

At the time I did't know what to do with it but knew it would be useful at some point of my crafty life.

Armed with some punches, stamps, ink and rub ons, I set to work to create my wooden
shapes...

...and I love how they have turned out.

The epherema was a bit more difficult but google images, stamps and a pair of scissors
sorted that out however as I've been busy doing this....

...for The Child's birthday today, I haven't had time to take the photos.
I promise to be back tomorrow with those.

Now what are you waiting for, get forging!!!

...And In With The New!

2015!!!!

Maybe if I blink it will be 2016, that seems to be what happened last year.

Welcome to my part in the first Counterfeit Kit blog hop of the new year.
You will already have been introduced to the kit itself
but just in case you need a reminder...

This Hip Kit really appeals to me for Winter scrapping, the colours aren't too Christmassy
and can also be used for many other projects if you don't have too many Christmas photos
(like me!)

So, following on from Susanne, who I am sure has made a gorgeous kit,
here is my January Counterfeit Kit

Why not keep hopping and take a look...
