hi!! thanx to all ardent fans of oddball..thanx for tuning in to my neglected bloggie..ok since i have promised to write abt the rest of my japan trip, i feel totally obliged to do that.
day 3(12/12):
hmm..we woke up at 6am or so japan time(which is 7 am s'pore time)and packed all our stuff, took out our coats and headed down to the inn's restaurant for buffet breakfast.we had a continental cum japanese style buffet breakfast and there were cold(yes..COLD)spaghetti, 5cm long sausages,weird-tasting milk and then there was porridge with pickles and stuff(quite nice actually.. :)haha )we went out to TEST the weather and found that it was brrrr.. cold so we rushed onto the bus and settled down.we then headed to this park called 平和公园 and there was this monastry in it.great for taking pics but nothing much.took some pics and headed for Tokyo!!!along the way,we stopped at another highway stop but i was sleeping so i was rather reluctant to leave the bus but i got off anyway and we bought a stick of fried sotong cubes(3 on a stick 000-- like that.haha)very nice actually.then we got back onto the bus and by the time we reached Tokyo,it was already 12 or so.we went SHOPPING!we were at this place that had lots of little stalls that sold little things like little cakes in the shape of fishies and had red bean on the inside.(we meant to bring it back to s'pore and give them away as little gifts but my mom left them in the hotel that night.awww... :( so sad)anyway, this place is actually part of a kwan yin temple but it's all the way inside(goodness knows where..)but it seemed more like a shopping area.after that, we had lunch at a restaurant nearby there was tmepura and some pickle stuff that i didn't like.oh! and they gave us a litle bell each as a souvenir.they placed a bell under each glass.so sweet of them!after lunch,we stole off to the 100yen store nearby and bought some really really nice stuff.after that, the tourguide sort of hurried us onto the bus to go shopping again..we went to a wholesale market that sold all sorts of things from fish(fresh fish)to clothing.haha.there was this stall that sold titbits and our tour group practically emptied out the whole stall.we even had the stuff packed into cartons and boxes.happily,we returned to the coach and went to Tokyo tower to view tokyo's skyline but it was pretty dark already even though it was only 4 o'clock or so, and my dad was beginning to feel sleepy.haha.we wanted to take pictures but couldn't because the flash would simply reflect off the glass.so, we headed to our hotel, supposedly a rather high-class and well-known one, chacked in,brought our stuff up and came down again for dinner.dinner was served at a taiwanese restaurant just across the road.the food tasted alright but the serving was puny..after that, the tourguide brought us on a stroll around the area where it was actually a shopping district.after leading us to the opposite side of the underground tunnel, we were left on our own to explore.we walked around but found nothing much,we actually wanted to visit the supermarket but it was already closed at 8 so we trudged back to the hotel miserably. just then, we saw a ramen stall(u know, one of those tiny ones tucked in a corner of the road.)we bough tickets with coins from a vending machine and passed them to the guy at the counter and he serves u the noodles!the noodles cost abt 600 to 800 yen for a bowl.what surprised me was tt there was a kind of ramen that was the same price regardless of whether it was large, medium or small!haha so we bought a large bowl and i still wonder what's the difference.when we were walking back to the hotel, we saw a MOS burger.out of curiosity, we wnet in and saw that a set meal actually costs something like 900yen~!tt's like s'pore $14++!so we hurried out and went back to the hotel.haha.end of the day.
