Not so long ago the garage door became difficult to raise and lower. After looking at it, the roller had jumped the track on one side and the roller was broken on the other. I fixed the broken roller and took things apart to
get the other one back on the track. It stayed that way until this week when the roller fell apart. After procuring the correct roller, it was time to replace it. I carefully read the instructions, took the bracket off and slipped the roller in. So easy! Hah!Now there was too much tension on the bracket and I could not get it back into place. Lucky for me, Katie came over to help me. I had the brilliant idea of taking the wire off the spring. There were two places to unhook it and I chose the one by the pulley hooked to the giant spring.
Dangerous giant spring.
Correct place to remove wire/cable.
Hmmm.... you can guess what happened next, my fingers were being crushed between the pulley and the wire and I could not move them. To the rescue came Katie with a wrench she used to pull the wire down enough for me to get my fingers out. At this point some minor shock had set in. I could not think and there was blood dripping from everything. Katie sent me in the house to wash up and stop the bleeding. By the time I got back to the garage, Katie was setting the last bolt in the bracket in place. Together, we put the wire back on...not by the pulley and the big spring, but in the safe place. Voila! Garage door raises and lowers as smoothly as if it were new.
Blessings:
1. Katie was there to help/rescue me!
2. My fingers are only scraped.
3. The garage door works!
