For Abah

The fact that today is Father's day, my memories seemed to drift to those day when I was a little girl and when I had Abah around. The truth is since my early teens, my parents were separated and  I practically grew up without a father figure. I only saw Abah once in a while during raya and some occasions. Abah passed away in 1995.

Most of my memories with him was when I was a little girl...and those were the good times. Today, I want to thank him for bringing me to this world and ....
  • for those happy moments when Abah used to bring me and my sister to the playground at the beach
  • for his funny 'jungle stories' that Abah used to tell us before we went to sleep.
  • for the laughter in the house whenever he spoke his broken BM (Abah was a pakistani and altho he has been a malaysian since he was 18 years old, he still has a funny slang whenever he speaks BM)
  • for being a great cook. My house was famous during raya times coz our friends and relatives would come to sample his famous nasi beriani
  • for buying us toys that made us so happy
  • for making his kaw kaw teh tarik for me in the afternoon
  • for those picnics we had in Tanjung Bungah and Taiping
  • for my nick name - nurie.
Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmatNya ke atas roh Abah. Amin!

Yay for June!

Nowadays time flies like the rocket, no more like a jet plane. It is already mid year and I still remember in January (esp. on my birthday) I had planned to do this, to do that and shamefully very few had materialised. tsk..tsk...

Anyways, as people say you must look forward and not backward, so Im happy that June is here. Why?

1. We are going back for our cuti cuti malaysia vacation on 29th June! *beaming with happiness*
Last year we went back for Eid, but this year we decided to go back in July to have a more relaxing hols. (our holiday is only for 30 days, so must make the most of it!) Am already salivating thinking of those food at gerai makcik, cendol, ABC, kuih muih and yummy homecook food. This year I must go for dim sum and steam boat buffet! We have started compiling a list of 'to do things' and 'what to eat" in KL and Kuching.
This year too, alhamdulilah we 4 siblings are going to have a family gathering at last! The last time my brothers, sis and me gathered was at my mom's funeral three years ago. It is hard to kumpul together gether as one is in dubai, another in Brunei and my sis in Kelantan. We already booked a banglo in A Famosa, Malacca (first time there) and am looking forward to catch up with the family.

2.School is over!
Tripple yay!! My kids have started their summer holidays! Lama gile they all cuti. School will only start after eid, maybe on 10-15th Sept. Im glad we are going back to Msia in July, coz we will be spoilt rotten of staying up late, waking up in the afternoon and doing nothing at home. hehehe...

3. Hubby's birthday is on 5thJune.
Not that Im happy he is a year older, but it just gave me a reason to celebrate.Translated into - looking forward to the makan makan session. I love giving presents too. The headache of looking for the perfect gift, the effort of searching it, well it makes me happy. Unfortunately Hubby does not like people making fuss on his bdays.; so I cant plan a surprise party for him. If not, it would have been a blast for me!

The only thing I resent is I think I have to go on a diet this month. Wanna look good when I see my friends. Oh well.... still thinking.. *munching potato wedges*
