Seeing Blood

I feel good! I just saved 3 lives!

This post is defintely not directly about Joshua, but still related. Eversince I was preganant and breastfeeding, I had to stop blood donation for a full 3years. My arm itched, each time Deary donates blood, or whenever I see the colorful band-aid on my collegues'arm.

I just resume my blood donation regime TODAY, my company had a blood drive on a 3monthly basis. Felt a little nervous, trying to recollect if there was pain.

But the friendly nurse just made everything better. A slight sting went the needle went in, but ZERO feeling when the needle was extracted! Got a free cute pen, a pretty purple band-aid. Yummy cheese sandwich and thirst-quenching apple juice.

Don't I make you wana give blood? :)

East Coast Park

The last time we were at the beach was few months back, Joshua was had learnt to walk not too long ago. Now at 19mth, Lyn suggested a day of picnic and sunshine at the beach. The pics were taken 2wks ago. Finally found some time to upload them.

Joshua kept sweeping his hands to get rid of the sand, saying" sand sand hand hand"

Got him a swing car! $19.90 ONLY at Carrefour. This is totally cool, manuevour the wheel and the car will move. Yes, no battery, no petrol, totally environmentally friendly! Go, get one, it will last till the child is 6yrs.

"Mmmmfff...my 1st fish burger" Joshua could actually eat the WHOLE burger.

Got him a sandcastle building set. Totally cool watching him dig and water. :)

Before we head home, picture with his fav Yeeyee and best friend Ryan.

Naughty Bench

Maybe Joshua is our first child, maybe Wilson and myself don't really believe in caning. We decided to try the " Naughty Bench ". If you had watched SuperNanny, you might know what it is. Basically, when a child did something wrong, you 'isolate' him at a corner, for certain time depending on his age (1yr=1min, 2yr=2min, etc.)

I got a really nice blue chair as the Naughty Bench. (Ha! Irony!) Tried it twice over the last week, it was tough trying to make Joshua sit still on the chair. He would cry and plead, trust me really really "chiam", really really heart-broken. Kept calling "Mama..." I would have to hold him down, keep a very stern face, sit right infront of him. When 1 min is up, I make sure I give him a good hug, get him to say " Sorry " and explain to him why Mummy puts him on the Bench. He may not understand, but we are hoping this rountine will help to discipline him.

Simple Things in Life

Joshua loves going out, new places or things always cause him to pick up new words. So every week, we will try to think of a new activities. We want to teach him fun is not tagged with a price tag. There are just simple things in life which are equally fun :)

Taking a train ride, and not driving. Joshua can tell you "Hang hang". He can even point to the arrow and tell you to stand on it while you wait for the train. Haa..

Vivo has this mega pet shop, lots of cute animals for viewing. Joshua simply loves them!

You can even play @ Addidas outlet.

Nights out @ Esplanade with Mr MerLion. Joshua call him "R-ion" which sounds like Lyn' bf Ryan.

Mummy with a Mandate

*Heart full of excitement, full of hopes*

After a year of comtemplation, I finally started my Diploma in Makeup @ The makeup room yesterday! Just 5 of us, my classmates are great! It is amazing, 4 of them from CHC!!( No, we didn't even know each other!)No wonder we hit off right away!

It was a difficult decision initially, signing up for the class means giving up on family times, spending and seeing Joshua and Dear less( class is 3x/wk...). Also a hugh financial investment. However it had always been a passion to pick up this skill.

With Joshua's growing independancy, and Deary volunteering to take care of him, I was confident that God will give us the quality family time.

Maybe some time later, I can do free-lance, able to spend more time with my family. (quit my job, be a Tai Tai!!)
Maybe I can be a instructor, impacting the lives of youth and women with special needs.
Just maybe God can use me in the area of theatres.

You just never know, God has a special plan for us.

Malacca trip

Went malacca last saturday, it was a all sudden decision. Totally stressed out by worked, badly needing a breather, decided at 4pm on Fri, to make a trip to Malacca. Mum, sister, Ryan were all gamed to tag along. Malacca wasn't really my cup of tea, but heard so much great reports from my sister, that I decided it might really be worth...

Malacca, like I had always known, beautiful scenery, friendly people, great food. The environment is so much cleaner, and they even have a night market - Jonker Walk. They carry vintage/antiques/nonya food, almost like a mini flea mart. They even had a row of pubs, decorated tastefully, wonderful music. (too bad, hp went out of battery, probably next time when I am back there, take some pic for you guys)

I love this place, its mixed of eclettisim and moderness.

"Boy's head and stairs " Daddy's attempt to be artistic :)

Joshua did a little Umbrella dance, with the musicians playing @ St. Paul church.

@ the Zoo

It is Joshua first trip to the zoo, thank God for great weather! Lots of walking for me and Deary, great exercise for us, I am truly amazed how well-maintained the zoo is.

Enjoyed myself truly! Always feel good to do something child-like. :)

Joshua learnt to pose with a " V sign " Haa..the mummy loves doing that and he picks it up right then. He was all excited seeing his favourite animal Lion and Elephant, he can pronouce them really well!

Totally WOW by the animal show.

The best part of the trip...WATER PLAYGROUND!Every children's favourite. Brought along a spare set of clothes, knowing there is a kid's water play area. We had lunch at a nearby KFC, spent a great 15min at the play area. Trust me, even though Joshua was shivering in cold, he couldn't bear to leave that place. We had to 'lure' him with the tram ride, that he then quieten down.

Deary and I got our private 30min, as the little guy dozed off after his afternoon milk, he was totally tired out. It was a grand finale to me, being able to stroll along the path, beside the beautiful reservoir, nice breeze, great companion. *sigh* WONDERFUL :)

Chinese New Year Break

Been a while since I blog, hp was abit cranky, I was not able to upload my pictures. Work was completely crazy, I was all too worn out to touch the computer when I am back at home.
The Chinese New Year break did us good :) We spend some real good time with family members.

Rushed to bring Joshua for a new haircut day before CNY eve, hair stylist even gel his hair! Here's him posing, potential to be a child model! Call me bias, he really looks handsome :)

After reunion dinner at ah ma's place, all of us had a *sparkling* time. It was Joshua's first! He was truely amazed as he watch Jiujiu lit up the sparkle.

Other than the usual bai nian, wearing new clothes...

Best of all, we were able to spend more time with Joshua. Brought him to his favorite place - PLAYGROUND (3 times!!). Like his daddy, I think he is an athlete! He has really great motor skills, able to climb up the slide on his own. Quite a feat

A Brand New Year

Been out of blog for a whole 2 months, lots of things are keeping me busy........

Feeling alot for the year 2006, lots of mixed emotions about it....

The last 2 months, constant bouts of flu and cough hitting upon Joshua every other weeks, drive me crazy, not forgetting his high fever, his teething...to be honest, my lack of sleep caused me to blow up on him and deary many times.

The one thing that kept me going as a mummy, as a wife, is the strength of God. The constant reminder that He is greater in me, than any other thing in the world.

Which is, despite the crazy hour now, I have to BLOG!!! Because I believe 2007 will be GREAT! I am defintely looking forward to serving mightier in His kingdom, moving full blast for the cell group and for my ministry.

As for Joshua, making plans to start him is some music school. Ha...no no not being a kiasu mummy, but this boy does really have a keen interest for music. He loves Kelvin's guitar, and can really strum ( ok literally :P )

So tempted to get GD's cards to increase his words. Eversince he hits 10mths, he is learning words really fast. Starting from the monosyllabus words ( Da-da, Ma-ma, mum-mum, duck, dog, ball ), to tougher and double-syllabus words ( Lights, car, elmo, flower). I lose track myself, how fast he picks things up now. He mimick our actions and repeats it right on! It is simply lots of fun with him now :)

Year 2007, here I come! Greater aspiration, greater fun reports about the Little Warrior.
