Surprise! We are still alive, though you may be fooled since we have not blogged for a few weeks. That doesn't mean we didn't have good intentions, it just means that we have been really busy lately.
A couple of weeks ago we made our annual pilgrimage to Idaho. We had a wonderful time with family and friends. We stayed with Mom and Dad Rodes and played games, watched LOTS of the Olympics, and even found time to toss the Frisbee at a park by the river in Boise. The weather was HOT! Thank goodness for AC! The only time we truly ventured out was either in the early morning or evening.
We were also able to visit with friends we have not seen in quite some time. It was a lot of fun to catch up with one another over dinner (see photo).
One memorable evening we went to the Mona Lisa with Mom and Dad Rodes. The Mona Lisa is this GREAT fondue restaurant in Nampa where I worked while we were in school. Some of my old friends were still there and they sat us at the same table where we sat following our wedding. It was a great meal together!
Since being back we have continued with our hectic lives. I have been trying to wrap-up some projects around the house and Steph has begun preparing for the start of classes. This has been a VERY crazy summer and we are looking forward to the changing season and what that will bring.
We are getting close to being ready for Ava's arrival (Are you ever ready?). On our return from Idaho, both our small group, and my colleagues at WV through us baby showers. We have felt so loved by all, and we appreciate their thoughtful and generous gifts.
As a final note, we also just completed our birthing classes this past weekend. It was fairly intensive with a lot of good information. I think the most memorable moment from our class will be our instructor, pretending to be in labor on the floor. She definitely was not a boring instructor. With the conclusion of the class it has really struck me that the birth of our little girl is really close! Less than two months left. I know our lives will change forever, and I cannot wait.
