Early Thanksgiving

My family got together on Monday for Thanksgiving dinner since a lot of us are going different places for Thursday. There are so many of us we just got the church for the evening. Played volleyball, visited and ate. A good night. We will do Thanksgiving with some church friends and family.

Chawna and Nia. Tanner waiting for the volleyball to come his way.

Dallin wanted to play too. The kids colored on butcher paper.

Kris (my sister). My uncle Kent teaching his daughter Carmalee how to hit a volleyball.

Grandma and my Aunt Laura and my Uncle Shaun scowling at me.

My mom and Grandpa

Our family and the food. Nia walking around in cones. So funny!

Kris playing piano. My uncle Shaun and his wife YoungSook.

Dallin playing a duet with Kris. Li an Tanner.

Just a little more

Some have asked if my family eats like I do. They don't, but they are eating less meat. My boys are vegetarians by choice (at least for now), but they love dairy still. I don't feel like I can take them off at this point. Tanner is a horrible eater; if I took him off dairy he wouldn't eat much. Nate is open to eating less meat, but won't give up dairy. He needs to read China Study, then he will change his ways. :) Life would be easier, not to mention healthier and longer probably, if my family was on board, but we all have our choice and I'll respect that.

Ok, that's enough about our diet.
Here is a picture of how I am getting my hair cut this week.

An experiment

Ok, don't roll your eyes at this post.

Recently I read some books about nutrition: The China Study, and Eat to Live. The authors talk about the harm animal products can do. I will spare you the details. If you want them, email me. I decided to try an almost vegan diet for a while to see how I felt. It actually tastes really good! I've avoided meat and dairy for over a month and feel mostly great. It has taken a while for my body (mostly bowels) to adjust, but I feel more healthy and energetic. Didn't realize I felt so good until I had a non vegan day away from home. Felt sick and tired. My diet is probably 90-95% vegan right now. I am not a snobby vegan, I wouldn't even call myself vegan really. At home I am most strict. Don't worry though, if I come to your house you don't need to accommodate my diet. I still enjoy non vegan food a lot and will eat it, and like it. I won't think it is the end of the world. Actually, I will probably consider it a treat. . . until I get sick. Just kidding.

J&M's photo shoot

Here are some pictures I took of Jordan, Michaela and Calin a couple weeks a go. What a photogenic family!

My Camera

A few people have asked what camera I use. I use a Nikon D5000. It is a digital SLR. Love it!
It is on sale at Costco right now along with another, the D3000, that is new, and supposed to be good too. Costs a couple hundred less but doesn't have the video capability.
Here are a couple shots I took last week with it.
Isn't this strange? But cool?

New family pictures

On Halloween we went to Rexburg, so Michaela and I swapped picture taking for each other. Here are some she took. I took a few here and there too of my boys.
This is what we dealt with most of the time, so we only got one good one of everyone. It is tough trying to pose with little boys.
"Say Cheese" wasn't working so well, so Michaela tried "Show me your teeth, Tanner" and this is kind of what we got.
There was some snow on the ground that was calling Dallin's name. He was all smiles when he was playing with it. The minute we had to pose for a picture he'd cry and want down.
At least Nate and I got some nice new ones of us.
Here is the one that worked out. We had to let Dallin bounce up and down.
Thanks Michaela!

Halloween in Pictures

There are 3 separate posts so scroll down a ways.
I forgot to post these. We painted pumpkins this year; little ones. When we went to pick them out all the big ones were ugly, so we just got these.
Dallin didn't paint really, he mostly ate paint.

Halloween party

The 30th our church had a Halloween trunk or treat, dinner, and carnival. Let's just say this week will be a sugar detox week for all of us. I really don't like Halloween now that I am a parent. Ok, it is fun to get dressed up, and I loved watching Tanner trick or treat, but all that candy? Who needs it? I think I will throw it away, unless anyone wants some. Anyone???
"Where's mom?"
"There she is."
This one? That one? Which one?
Cup cake walk.

Trick or treating

Cousins: Joel, Tanner and Dallin
Paul and Joel
Nate and Super Dallin
Tanner, David and Joel. This is about how it was all night. The boys ran from house to house, often into people's homes.
David and Tanner. They were so happy to see each other again.
Saying good bye.
