Does anybody hear her
By Casting Crowns
She is running at a hundred miles an hour
In the wrong direction
She is trying, but the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older and she's three more steps behind
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away
In you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
She is yearning for shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching for a hero to ride in
To ride in to save the day
And in walks her prince charming and he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason and she gives herself away
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away
In you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
If judgement looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we never even met her
If judgement looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we never even met her
Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?

PIZZA, PASTA, THE GODFATHER
Day 1 (left my phone in the hotel some pics are from Amy until I got my phone just before heading off to dinner)

In Naples cathedral/seminary while exploring naples. The Unesco heritage is indeed beautiful (if you minus out the soot, dust, vandalism, and crazy drivers).

Still in the seminary. This is the only tourist place we paid to go in (we skipped the sculpture of the veiled Christ and archaeology museum because they were 8 euros and this one was 7 euros)

Some place in Naples which we passed by to get to dinner. There was a couple taking wedding pictures nearby.

Passed this as well. Very quickly. We were that hungry.

Dinner. Tuna salad- as recommended by the waiter. I like the taste of the tuna. There was buffalo cheese in there as well- big blobs of them. Eek.

Ham and rocket pizza- I enjoyed this pizza the most among all the pizzas we ate because of the ham. So salty, so chewy, so GOOD. I actually used my hands to fold the pizza into half and ate it the Italian way. Amy and Alex used knives and fork cis.

See our empty plates? There was another pizza but it didn't get the chance to be photographed before Amy and Alex took a slice each. And my hands were already covered in pizza oil from above. But its seafood pizza with squid, clams, and mussels. It was shadowed by the taste of the ham. So hands down, the best pizza is the one above.

Gelato for dessert- this will become a regular over the next few days. Flavour: strawberry and honey and milk. To reduce intake of calories, we would order one cup with 2 flavours and share. There have got to be 18 flavours in total in this shop though- the most of them all.

San Marco Hotel where we stayed for a night. The receptionist was hot. And I was impressed by their hospitality.
Day 2

Breakfast- sweet buns and juice and kiwi. Delia doesn't know how to eat kiwi that isn't peeled and sliced. I mean, it's cut into half and dig out the fruit, no?

In the taxi. The journey up Mount Vesuvius (The huge volcano that erupted in 1872 whose ash completely covered the city of Pompei- where we visited later- where everyone died after inhaling the ashes, leaving the whole town a graveyard)

The taxi could only go up so far, and the rest is up to our feet! Amy says the tourist information said trekking up the volcano required medium to excellent fitness, and we declared ourselves medium fit- somewhat.

Delia looking nice and fresh while Amy is probably half dead behind. We're nearly there!

Remnants of lava from the eruption before. Getting there. Made like 6 pit stops on the way with the excuse of taking photos.

The sea from halfway up the volcano.

Finally we're at the crater/top!

Maybe standing so close to a smoking, active volcano isn't a good idea.

Souvenir shop at the top of the volcano. Made out of molten rocks and lava. Quite cool. Delia liked a necklace but the shop keeper wouldn't sell it for 3 euros cheaper so we left without turning back.

Queen and me in front of the crater. Delia's probably looking at her camera.

Next is back down the volcano to Pompei. The dead city covered in ash. By this time, the sun was up in the sky and it was hot.

See how large the city is? I'm sure I heard of Pompei in our Sejarah book somewhere. Alex says it has something to do with aqueducts and the nice and systematic structure of the city- tamadun indeed.

The city was too large until we had to get a map. Costed Amy 5 euros. We still got lost anyway. Ignore Amy's hand.

The smaller of the two theatre in ancient times. What we have today hasn't really changed.

The bigger of the two theatres. There was much more to explore (it IS a whole city), but we gave up halfway because it was too hot (I was actually holding an umbrella) and so dusty and we were all going to get pulmonary fibrosis so we gave up.

But that didn't stop us from taking pictures in the theatre seats.

Lunch! Recommended by our taxi driver.

Ham and olive and basil pizza. Nyam. But couldn't live up to yesterday's.

Delia had wine at lunch- tsk tsk. The taxi driver was like 'In Naples, you need to eat pizza, drink wine and go shopping. That's all you need to do.' Delia ordered a glass right away.

Fritta- a type of fried pizza. It's like calzone but the dough is like a harder version of a doughnut. When Delia sliced it to divide it into 4, the cheese gushed out and it scared her. Both of us ate the sides where there were least cheese- and we scrapped all the cheese out.

Rice croquette. Very interesting taste.

Spaghetti with clams :) It was so good that we came back on our last day to have one last time before we leave. This is what I call real pasta. All other pastas are fake/poor imitations of this. Even the clams were so fresh and so good.

Potato and octopus salad. Amy liked this. We wanted to order on our last day but it ran out :( I preferred this salad over last night's.

No.1 Gelato shop in Naples. Flavour: pistachio and chocolate (overall, it's ranked no.2 in tripadvisor for places to eat in Naples. By the way, the no.1 restaurant is a Japanese restaurant. Shocking.)

Bye Naples. In the ferry and on our way to Capri.

Capri! Remember the Lotus Eater where the chap loved Capri so much he decided to stay and die there? This is it. Gorgeous, isn't it?

It was around 6.30pm when we arrived at the hotel and unpacked. The hotel owner suggested we go to see the sunset as it was already late and all the shops will be closed soon. So, Faro beach- for the sunset.

Lovely, lovely mountains on the beach.

We stayed till the lighthouse lit up. The light looked like a huge crystal- pretty!

Us and lighthouse.

Delia, Amy and me.

Sunset.

Sunset.

Us while watching sunset with our feet dangling off a cliff.

One more take :)

Dinner. Sour dough bread for appetizer.

Water and half a glass of house wine. Amy finished it for me in the end haha.

Octopus salad. This was the best salad in the whole trip.

Spaghetti with clams. There would definitely be one of this dish in every menu. It's that staple for them. Clams are yummy.

Homemade pasta with seafood. See the teck han? Kakaka. Mussels are yummy. I won't deny that each night I go back thinking I would have an allergic reaction to all the shellfish I ate and will start to swell up in the middle of the night.

Pasta with squid

See how good everything is? Nyam :) See the empty shells? See how the level of the wine hasn't changed at all? Hahaha

Bill looked good as well :) All our meals somehow ended up roughly this amount. Call us food gourmets. Call this shocking.
Day 3

Breakfast. The cake was so good everyone (including Amy) went for second helping. My croissant had marmalade in it :)

Blue Grotto. The cave where water lights up like sapphires due to the reflection of the sun, water, and the stones. The entrance was like 2mm or something. Everyone had lie flat in the boat when we enter the cave or our heads will get chopped off- the waves at the entrance were that strong.

Blue Grotto

Blue indeed.

Us on the boat. Alex was on the other end. (Amy: queen was lying on my left lung and j lai was lying on my right lung. I couldn't breathe!)

See the boats queueing to get to the grotto?

Blue, blue sea.

Next we went up the chairlift! View from the chairlift- first time experience was scary indeed.

It was this or climbing endless stairs. Don't be fooled by my smile- it was nerve wrecking. I sat so still.

View from the top of the mountain. Breathtaking, no?

Looks like we're in the sky.

Amy likes our sexy backs.

Going down is definitely more scary than going up.

Alex's back + jungle.

Alex's back + Capri.

Mua

Lunch- homemade pasta with blossoms (pumpkin leaves) and clams

Pasta with seafood

Pasta with lobster

See how good everything is? This is probably the only time I had so many clams.

Then it was beach time! Pic stolen from Amy.

Delia and I sharing a towel because we didn't want to pay extra for another one.

Dinner + wine (I really liked this wine- I actually finished half a glass. See my portion compared to the rest? Not to mention they had 3 refills or something).

Linguine with scampi :) Best pasta ever.

Too good. Delia liked this one best. Note the lack of shells is because I gave most of the scampi away, still haunted by the risk of anaphylaxis. I don't know why I bothered. The scampi essence is in the linguine.

Tiramisu for dessert. The happiness~~~
Day 4

Same breakfast

Amy and Delia sunbathing at the beach- whose waters were too rough and they decided to go for the pool instead.

Alex and I decided against the sunbathing and we were chilling in the shade.

With something to snack on.

Lunch. Gelato + a slice of pizza to walk around with for last minute shopping. I really wanted to buy shoes for everyone. It was that comfortable to walk in! But everything costed at least 55 euros and I couldn't risk buying the wrong size :(((( So I decided to look for the single strap sandals (less leather would be cheaper right?) Wrong, the sandals are 90 euros each. We'll all come here one day and I'll buy leather shoes for everyone. EVERYONE.

Dinner. Pasta with cerrucio fish. Delia ate my share. Why Delia, why ;__;

Pasta with clams- the portion shrunk :((((((

Beef- it's processed meat by the way

Carbonara. It's very different from the one we know.

Bye bye pasta. It was all really, really good. I'll miss you. (At this point Amy was getting quite tired of pasta while the rest could still go on haha).

Castle built by the spanish.
Day 5

Back to England. Lunch! Chinese food! MEAT

Real meat after 5 days of no meat- the whole plate of meat above, beef brisket, mei chai kou rou, and wa tan hor. Couldn't finish them all. We couldn't believe it.
For some reason, this looks quite shocking.
All in all, it was an amazing holiday!
Now back to reality (to work- I've already got a headache thinking about doing the list tomorrow) :((
Bruce coming this weekend.
Daddy and mummy and Joyce coming in 2 weeks! :))))))))))))))))))
