Weekend Getaway

Hey guys!

I had a really great weekend. Like it was super wonderful. So, this post will mostly consist of all the things that made it so great.

It all started when Glen decided to go to the JRCLS (J. Reuben Clark Law Society) conference that was being held up in Dallas. I know there is a lot more to it but what I understand of it is a bunch of LDS lawyers go and attend little classes and stuff. They hold it every year in a different place, but this year it just happened to be in Texas. My friend Mindy called me and asked if I was going to go with Glen (her husband is a law student too). I wasn't going to go, but thought that I would tag along if she was going.

Because of my job, I didn't get to go up on Thursday with them. Instead, I drove up by myself after work on Friday. I jammed out to 80s music and old Destiny's Child CDs the whole way. It was awesome.

Driving into Dallas was so cool! The buildings were all lit up and it was really beautiful. I met up with Glen, Tyson, and Mindy at the hotel (which the school paid for btw), and then we just toured the city!

The next morning the boys got up early to head to the conference and Mindy and I slept in and hung out at the hotel. We met up at the conference for lunch, where I saw my friend Mary! I worked with her at Allyse's Bridal a long time ago and now she's a law student in California. It was a pleasant surprise to see her and catch up!

After the conclusion of the conference, the four of us decided to do a session at the Dallas Temple.

I should note here that we did have tickets to the BYU vs. TCU game in Fort Worth, but we were going to have to decide between the temple, and the game. Now, I know some of you worship Jimmer, but we decided a temple trip would be more beneficial. So, we went. It was a beautiful temple and a great session.

Afterward we went to Pei Wei for dinner, where we then parted with our friends. They drove home and we drove to Fort Worth, where we had gotten a hotel. We went swimming in the pool and met some pretty awesome Mormons. I always get so happy when we run into Mormons in unexpected places.

Not long after our pool adventure we went to Smash Burger (for fourth meal. I realize we already had eaten dinner) and it was DELICIOUS! We had one in Provo and were excited to hear they had one in Fort Worth as well.

We spent the rest of the evening watching tv shows and movies on cable. We don't have cable at home so when we get the opportunity to have it, boy, do we take advantage.

Sunday we got to sleep in. YAY! It was great.

But our wonderful weekend was STILL not over! We got to visit with Glen's brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Carolyn, and our niece Cadance! And for good times, we played a game of Bohnanza. Carolyn made a really excellent dinner, and we enjoyed spending time with them chatting.

And then... we drove home.

It was a good weekend.

Mm Mm Good

Okay for all of you who have been asking. I work at a place that supplies and supports credit card machines. If you really want to learn more about it click here. Or if you don't, here is a simpler explanation. We distribute the credit card swiping machines (terminals) and get merchants approved to accept cards like American Express and Discover. There are lots of other things we help businesses do, but that's the general idea. So yeah. There you go! I enjoy the people I work with and am happy to be making money.

Okay, but no more work talk. I'm done thinking about work for today.

Let's talk about dinner.

I think I can actually handle having a full time job and still pull off my meal making. Today I used my lunch break to go home and start making preparations for dinner for later. It turned out fabulously. We had spaghetti with home made spaghetti sauce (minus making it with my own tomatoes, nor growing them for that matter), green beans, Italian meatballs, Italian Sodas and ROUND ROCK DONUTS for dessert! If you want to see more about those donuts, and you should, go to your netflix account (if you have one, and if you don't you need to sign up because it rocks) type in Man vs. Food, and watch the episode about Austin. DO IT!

Sorry I don't have pictures. Food photography is hard anyway. Did you know that on the front of cereal boxes they use glue instead of milk in the picture? Exactly what I'm talking about.

Well kiddos, over and out for now.

A.D.D.

Good news!

Yes, my dear readers, I have obtained a job. Actually, it scares me to say that because for some reason I still think it's not real. Like they'll fire me on the first day or something.

But it also means farewell to my eat-breakfast-in-bed-while-in-my-comfies-watchingmyfavoriteshowslikeall7seasonsofGrey'sAnatomy-do-whatever-I-want-all-day-ness. It's kind of sad for me.

I have really enjoyed getting so crafty and home-makery. But, without money, crafts and cooking can only go so far. Although he won't admit it, I'm sure Glen is getting sick of alternating between vegetarian, chicken breast, and ground beef meals. So, this will be my new challenge: Trying to keep my new self while integrating my old, hard-working business woman self into one awesome wonder woman.

Yikes.

So, I have also been trying to kick my A.D.D. out of my system. Did you know that I have A.D.D? Well, now you do. I've been medicated since my junior year of high school and it has helped me in abundance. College grad here! Anyway, I've been slowly lowering my dosages trying to ween myself off my medication. This can only happen if you force yourself to develop habits that will stick once you're off. Well, in honor of my getting a new job, I thought I'd go without my medication today, just to see how it goes.

It went well at first, I got up at a reasonable time, got ready, and got out of the house before 10:30, an accomplishment in itself.

Then I went to the store in search of the toilet paper I forgot to buy yesterday while grocery shopping.

I went to H-E-B, Target, Michaels, Office Depot, and Dollar Tree.

I came back with bags full of stuff.

And no toilet paper.

I'll be taking my medicine on Monday morning.

Bored & Burrowed

You guys.

I need something to blog about, but I've got nothing! I still owe you some pictures, but when Glen gets home I always forget to snatch his jump drive.

Not much is new! Glen officially accepted a second internship in Pennsylvania this summer! I was hoping to end up in Utah or Arizona for at least half of the summer, but I figure if we are going to go to a "new" place, this summer would be it. Next summer we will want to get internships in places we will want to end up living, and TX and PA (although lovely places) are not those. We'll be staying with Glen's brother and hopefully bounce around to some of Glen's friends' homes (Glen served his mission in PA), as to not wear out our welcome in any one place.

So, Glen will be in San Antonio, TX from May 23-July 1, and in Carlisle, PA from July 11-August 19. We hope to sneak away to Arizona the week before his 1st internship, and to Utah the week before his 2nd internship. Cross your fingers!

I'm also seriously looking for a job! I've already interviewed twice with one place, and if that falls through I will be hitting up the banks! I'm hoping with a job like that it may be easy to transfer to a different branch for a few weeks if I go with Glen on his internships? Maybe? I'm not really sure. But my break is over, I'm getting restless and I want to make some money.

I've been falling in love with sewing, and I hope it lasts. People with A.D.D. are known for getting obsessed with things/hobbies and then dropping them quickly. It happens all the time with me. For this reason, Glen won't let me buy something that "I simply MUST have" until I've waited a week to see if it sticks. 95% of the time, I don't even remember. Thank goodness for husbands. But I have some sewing projects in the works that I am SO excited about! I'm a quick learner, so hopefully I'll be able to learn quickly and finish before I get bored. I'm thinking that I'll like sewing though.

So, the weather was getting beautiful recently, and as many of you have experienced, it's extremely cold now. I have felt bitter cold in Utah, but it's not usually cold AND windy. It is unbearable for me. I walked outside this morning to take Glen to the bus stop and the wind was literally taking my breath away. You know when you blow a puff of air in a baby's face and they scrunch it up and lose their breath for a second but then start laughing? (Maybe none of you responsible parents do this, but I've probably done it to your kids when you weren't looking cuz they love it. And it's hilarious!) That was me this morning minus the laughing. For that reason I have been inside all day and bored out of my mind. Thus this boring post. I have a plethora of friends that have recently had babies though so I've been reading all their blogs, so thank you friends who have had babies.

Alrighty. Enough for now. Stay warm!
