We did it! We survived the Bestway Early Bird {POLAR BEAR PLUNGE} Pool Party!
Well, the kids did. Us adults were perfectly happy to watch and cheer the kids on!

Last Saturday Nick, Cole, Max, and I put the pool together. The box said it would take about 20 minutes. Um, not quite. More like 3 hours. But that was to be expected, considering the size. And what was nice was that it wasn't really difficult to put together, just time consuming.

Lasts night we filled the pool. We had to connect 2 hoses and run them from the house out to the pool.  It took us about 20 hours to fill it up, woa baby! But again, to be expected, not a huge deal. Fingers crossed that we don't go broke after we pay our water bill next month.

Yesterday was a VERY windy and cold day, so we were a little nervous for today's party. Luckily today was sunny and wind-free.  Sure, it was still fairly cold. But not 30* like it's been the past few weeks. More like 50-60*, which felt quite balmy!  Until the kids got in the pool.  Maliya was sure that it would be warm ... so sure that she offered to jump in first.  She quickly realized that sunshine does not always mean warmth, especially when it comes to water. But she did get in all the way, as did all of the other kids (minus the two littles, Max and Crew).  And two of them, Melody and Torsten, actually stayed in for awhile, got out, and got back in! The rest of the kids were troopers and stayed in long enough for a quick group picture (though half of them were basically hanging on the walls, trying to stay out of the water).  The best part was the sounds and the faces the kids made when they first got in the water.  It was pretty funny.  Fingers crossed that none of them end up sick though!

Needless to say, it was a pretty quick party.  It took us less than 30 minutes to walk out to the pool, talk, uncover the pool, take a group picture, get in, take another group picture, get out, cover up the pool, and get back inside.  Then the kids warmed up inside a bit, got dressed, and then went outside and played for about an hour and a half.  We ended up hanging out for almost 3 hours, so it was definitely a party and we had a fantastic time, we just didn't spend much in the pool. That's ok though.  I anticipate making up for it this summer. Once the weather warms up I suspect the kids will be spending a lot of time in the water.  I really am SO grateful for this pool and am excited to enjoy it with the kids.  Thank you a zillion times over Bestway & Tryazon!

MORE FAMILY FUN:

Our Gravity-Defying Limbo Snowman

Snow Fort (it was rock solid and stood up for about 2 weeks!)

Puppy-Dog-Eyed Snowman

Our slide!
It goes from our pantry to our basement game room and is used for spy missions, to send snacks and treats down to the basement, for races, for entertainment with friends, to wear the kids out, to 'initiate' new friends. The kids somehow climb up it in socks (it's hard!) and have fun riding down it on sleeping bags and someday we'll convince Dad to let us turn it into a waterslide!

MORE KID'S CREATIONS:

Cole's latest Lego creations
(His entire room is basically covered in Legos. He also has a secret room hidden behind a bookshelf-door in his closet that is also full of Legos. He often disappears for hours at a time, no joke, and is always found either reading or creating Lego masterpieces.  He loves to take Lego sets and improve and add on to them.  He is quite the mastermind.)
