New Town, New House

We're finally getting settled into our new house, so I thought I'd post some pictures of how it's coming along. It's still a work in progress, but here's a peek.

I thought I'd also include a few pictures of the boys enjoying our new house. They are in love with our long driveway (well, it's longer than at our previous house) and basketball hoop. You can find us outside just about every afternoon riding bikes and hoopin' it up.

Corpus Christi Bound!

I know it's been forever since I've blogged, but we've been extremely busy getting ready for our next adventure. The Cecavas are moving to Corpus Christi! We are sooooo looking forward to being close to family. We still have some big things to do here before we go (like sell the house), but I will do my best to keep everyone updated on what's going on and give more details later. Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

Happy 2nd Birthday Samuel David!

Last Friday was Sam's 2nd birthday. I can't believe my baby is 2! We started off the weekend of celebrating with a birthday breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts.

Then we waited for family to start pouring in. Nick's mom (Grandma) and sister (Aunt Katie) flew in Friday afternoon. My parents (Grammy and PawPaw) and sister (Aunt NatNat) arrived later Friday night and Uncle Nate (Nick's brother) and Aunt Nique drove in the next morning.
We had Sam's party Saturday and served lunch and cake. I have always felt bad for not making my kids' birthday cakes, and I have great memories of cakes my mom made for me growing up, so I decided to give it a go this year. It took me the better part of Friday afternoon to complete it, but I had a great time doing it. Maybe I'll be a little faster when I make Eli's cake in March.
After lunch, we had Mr. Shea entertain the kiddos with bubbles, games, and balloon animals. Then Elmo joined the party. The kids were leery of him at first(I don't blame them; a six foot Elmo is sort of scary.), but seemed to warm up as time went on. Sam got tons of presents from our very generous friends and family. All in all, I think it was a success. Most importantly, we got to celebrate our sweet boy!

A few special things about 2 year old Sam:

1. He is obsessed with the movie "The Polar Express." He doesn't watch anything else on t.v., but will sit completely still, watching and quoting this movie.

2. He's one of the most laid back kids I have ever met. He MUST get this trait from his daddy. The only time he gets riled up is when Eli is pestering him or I try to turn off "The Polar Express."

3. Sam is a sweet, polite boy, saying "please" and "thank you" pretty consistently. He also says, "Esh you (bless you)" when he hears someone sneeze.

4. He's in love with his monkey beanie hat and refuses to take it off in the car or inside stores.

5. The first word out of his mouth in the morning is "breakfast." He's a sensational eater.

6. Sam has the biggest brown eyes and chubbiest cheeks ever!

7. As I sit here trying to think of Sam's favorite food, I can't. He loves everything.

8. Every time he sees a McDonald's, he shout's out "not not's!" When we drive past it, he then says, "Oh, Man!"

Sam-speak:
nok = milk
i yuh you = i love you
pess = Polar Express
jerge = Curious George
ammy = Grammy
not nots = McDonald's
omish = Thomas the train

Happy 2nd Birthday to our Sweet Sammy! Mommy, Daddy, and Eli love you very much and are so glad you are part of our family.

PS - Sam also had his 2 year well check today. 32 lbs. (89%) and 36.5 inches (93%)
Growing like a weed and crazy healthy. We are so blessed!

New Mexico

Last week, we ventured out west to New Mexico. Nick had to go for a work trip, so the boys and I thought it would be a great opportunity to meet our new nephew/cousin Caleb so we tagged along. While we were there, we were fortunate to spend time with Nick's college teammate and friend Andy and his family, as well. They opened their home to us the first couple of nights we were there and it was great visiting with them and their sweet daughter Macey. We also got plenty of quality time with angel baby Caleb. He's so tiny and perfect and seems to be a great baby; then again,I'm not the one getting up with him in the middle of the night. =) The boys played at the park with their Uncle Ben, which was pretty special, too. In between visits with Ben, Casey, and Caleb, we were lucky enough to do a few New Mexico-exclusive things like eat at Si Senor (phenomenal Mexican food), pick green chiles, and play at White Sands with Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Katie. The boys had a blast and it was a wonderful trip. Enjoy the pics!

Welcome Baby Caleb!!

Nick's brother Ben and his wife Casey are the proud parents of beautiful Caleb Adam. We are so excited to welcome our very first nephew to the family and Eli and Sam are super pumped to have their first cousin to play with. We thank God that he is healthy and perfect. They live out of state so we haven't got to hold him yet (it's killing me!), but we are planning a trip to visit them in the very near future. I can't wait!!

In other family news, the boys are great; driving me crazy, making me want to pull my hair out, making me laugh, making me fall in love with them all over again everyday. Eli is still loving school and I think Sam would like to go, too. But we're holding off another year. The time Eli is in school is the only time Sam and I get any quality one-on-one time, and I think that's something we both need. Nick's job is great, no complaints there. At least none that he lets me in on. All in all, we're a very blessed family. God is good!

Have a great week!

Ready or Not Pre-K, Here We Come!

Today was Eli's first day of PreK-4 classes at his school. He LOVED it and can't wait to go back on Thursday, so I guess you can say it was a raving success. He's super excited to be in the "big kid class" now. Eli was all decked out in his Buzz Lightyear shirt, Toy Story backpack, and matching lunch box - all of which he picked out himself. (Can you tell what the latest infatuation is at our house?) He looked so handsome and grown up. It got me thinking about next year when he trots off to kindergarten. I'm so thankful that he's growing and thriving, but I'm dreading the day when I'll have to let him go and he won't need me as much. It's not an easy thing for any mother, I'm sure. I get emotional just thinking about it now; I'll be a blubbering idiot this time next year.
Anyway, here are a few pictures from our morning. Enjoy!

Ok,so mommy picked a bad spot to take a picture. Too squinty.

Distracted by the worm on our driveway.

Have a great week!
