Chalkboard fun
I was recently called to serve with our young women in our ward here and I am enjoying being around these awesome young girls (even if it does make me feel old). Their strength and testimonies are inspiring. For Christmas it is a tradition (started by my dear friend, Jana) for the girls and leaders to make a gift to exchange. I decided to do something to go along with the theme for the upcoming year. I've been wanting to play around with the chalkboard look for a while and decided now was the time to give it a try. With a little tutorial I found through pinterest and some trial and error, this is what I ended up with. I've framed it in a white frame with a white mat and I am so pleased with the end result. I hope whoever gets it at our gift exchange this evening likes it as much as I do.

7,5,10 months
We had a wonderful family photo session with Ashley Broomall Photography a couple weeks ago and I can't wait to share those pictures, but I'm not sure which will be used for our family Christmas card so I'm keeping them on lockdown for the time being. However, I did go out and shoot some of just the kids this week. I have been meaning to do this for some time, but just now got around to it. Jackson turned seven and started 2nd grade. We did not purchase school pictures so I wanted something to document how much he has grown. Caroline turned five and has grown so much as well. I look at the picture I took of our family in the spring and I'm amazed at the changes in my 3 little ones. They grow too fast. And don't even get me started on William. That boy seriously needs to slow down. He's 10 months old - It's almost time to begin planning a first birthday party. What?!
Now, I have to say it is WAY easier photographing other people's children, but we came away with a few that work.
These are the Newman children in November...

Caroline turned 5
Caroline turned 5 (over a month ago).
She requested a strawberry shortcake party. We designed the invitations and handed them to all her friends. We chose the "castle park" and she planned the menu. She's quite the little party planner. We decorated the goody bags with drawings of strawberries and filled them with candy. I attempted (and totally mastered) an awesome strawberry icing for her cupcakes and a great time was had by all.
I give you the festivities...
