Slow Sunday Stitching

I feel I made progress on my Slow Sunday Stitching part of my secret Ohio quilt this week.  I work on these blocks when I have 30 - 60 minutes of stitch time.  Time flies!  The first one happened at bowling.  Another happened at school.

Another happened during graphic arts and one in study hall.

More study hall and math work:

I had study hall time at another school to make time for a few hexies too.

RSC18 and a few Blues

It really looks like I'm working on reds more than blues, but I did try to find more blues in the 2.5" bins to make this block for my secret Ohio quilt.  I'll be embroidering Ohio city names on these stars in my spare time.  The yellow star will be embroidered with "East Canton" on it in blue.  Blue and yellow are our school colors.  That's our home town.

Another Ohio City StarBlock

The stitches aren't perfect, but the Massillon, Ohio star bock is complete.  Whoop, whoop!

Better yet, TWO great days of school in a row!

WIP Wednesday

I've been working on a lot of things by hand these days because I'm often not at home or at a position where waiting is involved.  This is what happened this week:

I made some hexagons.

Some of them turned in to a flower center:

I embroidered some city stars for my secret Ohio quilt:

I made six more blue and white wonky baskets for the Block Lotto.

I'm excited that I got a "contact".  I went to the eye doctor.  I haven't been there since the episode of Bell's Palsy in February of 2016.  I was happy to hear that I still only needed to wear cheater glasses of +1.75.  The exciting part was that I asked about contacts.  She said that I could wear one contact in my left eye and that would work for me.  I LOVE it.  It was a challenge getting used to putting them in and out, but like anything with practice it gets better and better.

I wish I could say that my truck accident was because of my contacts.  No, I was backing down the driveway too fast, got a little off the driveway, got sucked into the mud, and cut it too short to get it up the hill without getting stuck.  Ouch.  Well, that's what insurance is for.  Should be fixed and back soon.  Bummer...

I had more fun this week making EPP hexagons.  This was on Sunday...

Then on Tuesday I had time to add a ring around the orange flower and make another half-opened flower.  These flowers bloomed:

Slow Sunday Stitching -- The EPP Hexies Continue

I had more fun this week making EPP hexagons.  This was on Sunday...

Then on Tuesday I had time to add a ring around the orange flower and make another half-opened flower.  These flowers bloomed:

Here's my view from the "teacher's" desk;

I was happy to return to the vocational school from which I proudly graduated -- 35 years later.

On Wednesday I spent almost three hours at the car dealership for an OIL CHANGE!!!  Turns out it there was a warranty paperwork problem.  My truck was done in regular time.  They told me my warranty was VOID!  Seriously?  I am an excellent paperwork keeper!  I quickly went home and had my hands on the "problem" paperwork in FIVE MINUTES!  Whew.  The next day I got a call from the service department saying that my warranty claim was approved.  No sweat...

This was completed while I was waiting on my truck paperwork issues.  Something beautiful came out of it after all.  I always look for the silver lining.  I praise Him in the storm for sure.
God's always got this!

On Thursday I "planted" the flowers that bloomed earlier in the week in another classroom.

Wonky Baskets

I had time to make six more wonky baskets for the Block Lotto this week.  These blocks measure 8.5" (8" finished).  This week I played with more of the darker blue scraps for the RSC18.

WIP Wednesday

Today I'm at the car dealership for a routine oil change.  I arrived 35 minutes early -- seriously, it's an oil change...  They took my truck right away and started working on it.  It took OVER TWO HOURS!  The service part was done.  The paperwork was the problem.  Geez.

On the bright side, I did get "Youngstown" embroidered on my secret Ohio quilt!

I loaded this quilt into the frame.  I hope to put a lot of loopys on it by this weekend and get 'er done.

I got some slow stitching EPP hexagons sewn.

Here's my stuff during study hall at school.  Kids see me get the container out and think I'm going to give them cookies... Poor kids!

I LOVE this picture that I took of our son yesterday in the field of goldenrods.  Beautiful colors!

I took on four more customer quilts:

Quilt #1 with red backing.

Quilt #2 with lots of fun HST and a big blue and 4-patches in the center.

Quilts #3 and #4.  fun fun!

I made for blocks for the Block Lotto this month.  I have the other six cut but still need to finish.

I gave away some items that I probably would never use (that were given to me) to a friend and her mom to make dolls.  that frees up two and a half boxes of room!
