It's 881 again!

This highly anticipated 881 is here again!! But this time it's a musical play at The Esplanade, revitalized and directed by Goh Boon Teck. Anna and I decided to watch it this weekend. We both love the movie 4 yrs ago and its soundtrack very much, hence will be looking forward to catching this musical adaptation.

SYNOPSIS:

One person, one half. One half of passion and struggle. One half of faith and belief. One half of joy and sorrow. One half of love and sacrifice. Two halves, One sisterhood, Forever.

In the Chinese Seventh Lunar month, we commune with visiting ancestors in song and dance. Big Papaya and Little Papaya are dreaming to rule the Getai (Street Variety Show). As the Papaya sisters appeal to the illustrious Goddess of Getai for this elusive gift, blessings are made, sacrifices accepted, and temptations abound. The Papaya sisters receive “feel”, and learn to feel: gratitude and forbidden love; most preciously, a devotion to a sisterhood of halves. Their coming success on Getai is threatened by the entrance of the Angmoh Durian Sisters, a challenge is committed to find out who is the winning pair of songbirds in this scaffolding cage of ironies.

Pre-arranged a lunch session with Anna over the weekend as a birthday treat for her. She wanted Spaghetti @ Paragon initially but only knew it was no longer there when we met up. Eventually, we hoped over to Mandarin Gallery for Wild Honey. While checking on the directory board, I saw Arteastiq which Celeste has recently mentioned it to me. I let Anna to decide whichever one and she chosen Arteastiq.

Arteastiq, a little haven nestled shop within shop (housed within a designer furniture, Marxx) at level 4 of Mandarin Gallery. Definitely a great place for catching up and chillaxing with your friends!
Arteastiq or Wild Honey??

Enticed by their pretty tea set, I definitely want to order a dessert tea for myself. On a side note, you gotta be prepared as it take sometime for them to serve up the food and drinks. However, we were quite occupied with checking in FB and taking pics of the colorful seats.
Raffles (Earl Grey w/Lavender Ice-cream)
Lychee Tea
Come with some biscuit

Crispy wrap with Wagyu beef. Very nice!

We had also ordered their promotion set meal @ $11.90. We were quite annoyed with the over toasted sandwich that was served to us but surprisingly, it tasted good.
Tuscan Crispy Brioche Panini Chicken

Crispy wrap with duck meat

Nice stuff!

Classic shot!

Haha, we were supposed to have lunch instead of yum cha. End up, Anna was still hungry despite having just finger food and tea...

Trip to 百龙王庙

Back in Bangkok after two fruitful nights in Hua Hin! I'm starting to miss the fireworks and banana boat ride... Needless to say the super cheap and sumptuous lobster and scallops meal at Hua Hin Night Market!

Upon arriving in Bangkok, we had only little time before setting off to 百龙王庙. Very quickly, we grabbed our dinner at the open-air market near On Nut BTS and went back to the hotel to shower before the van came to pick us up at 10 plus. We were advise to wear WHITE upon going to 百龙王庙. A little print or color is fine though.

Apparently, it was slightly after 1am when we reached the gate of the temple. However, we were already 4th in the Q!

And of coz, with YC around we can never go hunger! He brought us to the opposite street along the main road for porridge. It was some simple dishes but tasty especially the vegetables and spicy pig bone soup! I could have double portions if I didn't want to control my diet...

Evidence of the pork!

The vehicles Q was eventually very long by the time we got back. Thanks goodness we arrived early to avoid disappointment. Why do I say that? Well, 百龙宫 only open from Friday to Sunday and Master 百龙王 only give consultation to the 1st 100 guests and they hold no responsibility if we are not within the 100 Q. Hence, at
  • 5am - Temple staff to issue vehicle Q number
  • 6am - Temple open for praying
  • 7am - Breakfast, courtesy of temple
  • 8am - Start of consultation
Breakfast from the Temple
While waiting for the consultation to start, I looked around the temple and found these advise board very meaningful. In short, it was to advise us to be tolerant, say good words and smile more :)

On our way back to Bangkok, we stopped by Nezha Temple at Angsila. This temple is truly magnificent! And it's the biggest temple I've visited so far.
