Yummy Halloween Fun

Tonight we decided to make spider cupcakes as a family. I got the idea from this website. Emily and Madison loved it. Maddie helped me stir the mix while Emily put the liners in the cupcake pan. We made a white cake mix and put a little dollop of raspberry jam in the center and then more mix on top. After they cooked Emily and Madison helped Joe and I decorate them. They loved to help.

Of course Maddie just wanted to eat the Oreos, red hots, and the finished cupcakes. She didn't understand why we wanted her to put the Oreo on top of the cupcake and kept getting frustrated with us.

Emily loved putting the pretzels on the cupcakes and had fun trying to stick them into the cake. Overall it was a fun activity for all.

Joe's Adventure

Joe has been riding the bus for the last month and a half. It has been wonderful because we have been able to fill his car with gas only 1-2 times/month instead of 4-5 times/month. On Friday, Joe went to ride the bus like normal and the bus driver forgot to stop at his stop at work. He didn't notice until they were about a mile past and then didn't know what to do so he got to ride the entire route until they came back to his stop. He spent about 2 hours on the bus as opposed to his normal 45 minutes. What a ride. I guess it was a good thing for some people that were getting on the bus at the mall because the bus driver only stopped a couple of seconds and as the people were standing up to get on the bus the bus driver closed the door and tried to take off, but Joe let her know that she needed to stop because they were trying to get on the bus.

"This day is so fun!"

This is what Emily said yesterday at the end of the day. Yesterday morning we went and picked apples at my Mom's coworkers orchard. As we were leaving she just kept talking about how much fun it was picking apples. Then last night we went to a house that Benny and Sara were house sitting and she thought it was amazing because it was so big. It is a mansion on Bogus Basin road. They have 3 dogs and a bird that says "Hello" I guess all of this was just incredible to her because she has never said "This day is so fun" before.

She Loves her Daddy!

This morning when Maddie got up she went into the living room and was playing. Joe was in taking a shower and she didn't know he was home (today was his day off). As soon as she heard his voice when he got out of the shower she immediately quit what she was doing and went running in to him yelling Daddy! Daddy! She was so excited that Daddy was home today.

This week I have been going over to my friend Sally Smith's house and canning apples. So far we have made applesauce and apple pie filling. I am also working on drying apples at home. They are so yummy!

I finally took JJ's two month pictures. He is getting so big.

Here is our first picture of JJ smiling.

We're Here!

So I finally decided to start a blog. I don't really know what I am doing but decided I might as well give it a try. Things for our family right now are great. We are getting used to being a family of five and Joe and I are just learning to enjoy all our time with our little kids because we know they grow up way too fast. We just went to Linder Farms yesterday to pick pumpkins. And of course we forgot the camera like we always do. Emily begged for days to go pick a pumpkin once she saw one at a friends house. Of course once we got there she didn't really care about the pumpkins as much as she did about the ride on the tractor. Madison's favorite part was probably the hay bale maze. They both also enjoyed the bucket tractor ride. JJ just enjoyed riding around in his stroller. We all enjoyed some doughnuts and then came home. It was a lot of fun.

JJ is just starting to smile a lot. He is so cute when he does.
