Soccer

We decided to try out organized sports this year with Jaxson, so this fall he started soccer.  Since Keith and I were both very into sports we were very excited for this.

At first Jaxson was excited too, but as the season wore on he didn't like as much.  He actually decided it was more fun to chase his shadow and throw grass during games than chase the ball.

And even though is was cold fall we all stuck it out and got some good laughs out of it.
Here are the Blue Rhinos.  The boy next to him with the ball is his good friend Elijah.

With coach Dan, who was great with our crazy boy!

He was pretty proud of his trophy and medal.  He thinks they're real gold.  He said the best part of the season was the pizza party at the end.

Carving Pumpkins

I always love carving pumpkins, whoever thought up that little idea sure was creative!  My parents came into town the day we did it and we decided to take the opportunity to tell them we're expecting number three.  We had the kids pose with their pumpkins, before they started carving, then we set a 3rd little pumpkin out with a number 3 on it.  It took them a little while but they got it and they were super excited for us.  We captured the moment on video with Keith's phone so hopefully we can get that on here soon.

I think Jaxson has finally overcome his fear of pumpkin guts.

Kenna thought it was a pretty fun ordeal, but really liked coloring her pumpkin with markers the best.

Finished product.  I was so lame and didn't get a pic of them all lit up this year.  If you can't tell Jaxson's looks like a ghost, that he was patient with and helped out a lot.  We love Halloween!

Jaxson's Birthday Part 2

Keith and I have decided not to do real friend and themed birthday parties every year for our kids.  We figured every other year is enough for that fun stuff.  And since Jaxson had a party last year we decided this year to do something new to celebrate.  We thought it would be fun for the birthday kiddo to pick out some nice things to do for other people.  Since Jax was turning 5 he choose 5 acts of kindness to do for others.
We had planned to do this on his actual birthday as a family but because I was so very sick we had to do it a little later.  Jaxson's favorite thing we did was take candy to the local fire station.  He choose red licorice to match their red fire trucks and was so excited to give it to them.

They we super nice and even gave us a little tour of the station and the kiddos got to sit in and on the fire truck.
Other nice things we did was give cookies and flowers to a widow neighbor and Jax's teacher from church.  We actually didn't get all five things accomplished because I was down and out for so long but I think Jaxson got the point and he enjoyed it.  I'm excited to keep this tradition going in our family in the years to come.

Happy Birthday Jaxson!

The evening before Jaxson's actual birthday I got really sick.  I was extremely sick all night and all through his birthday.  Luckily he has an amazing dad who really stepped up and did all our birthday traditions by himself.
Keith made sure Jaxson woke up to a room full of balloons to play in.

He even made sure to take a few pics of it for me.
Keith made him his special birthday breakfast of waffles with whip cream and fruit.

Then sent him on a treasure hunt for his presents.
Jaxson was super excited to open his gifts but waited until I could stumble out onto the couch to watch.
Kenna gave him some sticky bugs, which was a perfect gift for him.
Spider man costume was also a big hit. He's one loved little boy and we're so thankful to all the family and friends who sent him gifts, cards and birthday wishes.
The way that Keith helped out the most was by doing the cake.  Jaxson had requested a robot cake.  I had bought all the stuff to make it but was just too sick so Keith did it.  He was a little frustrated with the process and made me promise not to get sick on a birthday again but I think he did an amazing job.
More importantly Jaxson was thrilled.  He thought the cake was awesome.  He had wanted a blue robot but I forgot to tell Keith that and when Jaxson saw the cake he asked Keith 'how did you know I would like a white robot even better than a blue robot?'
Jaxson handled the day great even though it was a little off.  When Keith apologized for the day being so crazy Jaxson said 'that's okay birthdays are supposed to be crazy.' And he's right.  We love this boy more than words can express.  He's so much fun to be around.  He's full of life, excitement and personality.  He's not always easy but he makes us laugh everyday and really we wouldn't want him any other way.  Happy birthday Jaxson!!!

Jaxson's Birthday Part 1

Since Jaxson's birthday was on a Sunday this year we pretty much celebrated all weekend long.  On Friday they celebrated at preschool and we got to bring the treat.  Jaxson wanted to take mummy cupcakes.

He was thrilled with how they turned out.

I was a little furstrated that they didn't look as good as the ones I found on pinterest, but they were easy and at least Jax was happy.
He was sure excited about getting his crown and it being his special day.  I always amazes me how the little things can mean so much to a kid.

Since we weren't doing a friend party (we've decided every other year is enough for that) we decided to take the kiddos to Chuckie Cheese for the first time ever.  They were thrilled! When we were walking in Jaxson told us that 'this is a place where a kid can be a kid, so I'm really going to be a kid here.' (He's heard that off a comercial.)
What kid doesn't love pizza,
and arcade games.
His daddy was a big help and they had a lot of fun together.
Doing the ticket dance.

They also had tons of those little kids and a big play place.
Kennadie pretty much only wanted to do the rides and had to give each one a hug after she was done.

Getting to actually meet Chuckie was just icing on the cake.  Jaxson was so happy and talked about it for weeks.
