The freeway was completely blocked. Two semis and three smaller vehicles seemed to be involved in the accident, and we felt very blessed that we hadn't been there at the time it happened. However, we were stuck there at the front of the accident for almost two hours before tow trucks came and cleared things enough for us to get through.
The trip continued to be stormy on and off after that. At one point around Elko we had to put chains on. Even though we left our house in the early afternoon, we didn't make it to Winnemucca where we spent the night until 11:00.
At least Zipper traveled alright for the most part. This was the longest trip she has ever been on so far. She got a little sick the second day of our trip, but she was fine on our way home. She had a blast playing with Nate's brother Jonathan's dog Hogan, who is a few months older than she is.
We also enjoyed meeting Jonathan and his wife Karris's new baby Wilcken, and were happy to get the opportunity to be at his baby blessing Sunday.
Zipper was also happy to meet Wilcken:
Friday morning we were privileged to attend Nate's brother Michael's sealing to his bride Char at the Sacramento Temple. That was a special experience.
Then of course we celebrated the coming of the new year that evening. Saturday evening we attended the wedding reception:

We had a lot of fun being with family and celebrating so many new beginnings during our trip.
