Thanksgiving Week
The week of Thanksgiving last year was pretty busy with family stuff. We celebrated Gramp's birthday the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Plus, there was some gift exchanging with my brother Ben who was not going to be around here for Christmas.
On Thanksgiving day, we headed to Salt Lake to eat with my mom's side of the family. It was smaller this year than it often has been in the past, but we still enjoyed the delicious food and good company. Afterward, we spent the night at my parent's place so we could spend more time with Ben and Katelyn.
The day after Thanksgiving we gathered with family again for the baby blessing of our new nephew.
After the blessing, we spent the evening with Melissa's family, and after that we were done driving all over for awhile...

A Reunion in a Cabin
During Veteran's Day weekend in November, we were able to hang out with some good friends from BYU during a weekend reunion in a cabin. We didn't make it to this reunion last year since we were in California for what ended up being a failed adoption, but we were glad we could make it this year.
We spent time talking, playing games, eating treats, going to Dairy Keen for lunch, and playing at the park. Our kids also spent time exploring the frozen pond outside and falling through the ice into the mud and water. They also spent some time playing in the loft. They chose to sleep up in the loft the first night, but that came to a quick end when they got up in the very early hours of the morning to play up there, waking nearly everyone else in the cabin up with them...
On Sunday, the kids also made gingerbread trains. And of course, indulged in snacking on some of the candy for the trains.
We left Monday morning after helping clean up. On our way down Provo Canyon we drove up South Fork Canyon to hike up Big Springs Hollow. Nate and Emma decided they wanted to turn back before the Springs, but Austin and I made it all the way there.
It was definitely cold, but there was no deep snow yet...just a light thin smattering. The cold always brings its own unique beauty with it though, like the delicate ice crystals forming on slender reedy branches along the stream.
The view of Timpanogos seemed especially beautiful on our way out of the canyon, so we stopped to take a picture there too.
