The Top 10

Hello all of my blogging friends. I am back. I can't believe it has been almost 2 months since I have posted anything. I can't believe how fast my life is flying by. Max is getting so big, the summer is half over already, I feel like I have missed it. Every now and then I just get in this kind of hermit mode and then I come out of it and realize that a lot of time has passed and I have really missed my friends. A lot has happened since I posted last but I will just give you the highlights.

1-Max is in nursery now ( has been for about 2 months). It is GREAT!!! He has his bad days but he is usually good about it. He plays and has fun and is always really happy to see us when we pick him up. It has been so nice to actually be able to attend Relief Society and Sunday School. What a great thing nursery is.

2-We ran a race in Rexburg on June 14th. It was a lot of fun even though it was REALLY hilly and Nate and I only did the 10K (6.2 miles). Jared, my brother, did the half marathon (13.1 miles). I actually got him to sign up for the half marathon because I was going to run it too and we did about half of our training together. Come the first of May I started having trouble with my knees and ankles. I bought new shoes and that helped my knees but my ankles never got better so I opted to do the 10K instead. Poor Jared ran the half by himself (not that we would have been running the same pace) and he did GREAT!! It is a pretty hard course it starts going up hill around mile 6 and stops around mile 10.5 so that is pretty brutal. Jared rocked a 2 hours and 4 minutes. Way to go Jay! Nate and I ran together and came in at 1 hour and 13 minutes. Not a great time but we feel pretty good about it. It was fun to run together and Max was waiting at the finish line for us. Nate's extended family is from that area so he had some cousins running the race as well which was fun. It was a good weekend.

3-We went to Arizona to visit Nate's parents. They live in Surprise AZ which is just northwest of Phoenix. It is really hot down there in the summer time. Max and I went down on the Tuesday the 17th and Nate came in on Friday morning. We all left sunday night so it was a pretty good visit for us. During the week I was getting Max out of bed at 5:45am so we could go for a walk with Grandpa Peck before it was too hot. It was still 90+ degrees that early and rapidly warming up. It was so bright I had to wear sunglasses. I was crazy to me, but we had fun. Max loved our morning walks he would just sit in his stroller and look around, he was really good. The real challenge was the rest of the day when he wanted to go outside everytime he saw the door. I would give in every now and then and take him outside and he wouldn't last very long ( it was 112-115 degrees)but he would always forget and want to go outside again. It was great to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Peck. They officially started a mission on June 23rd. It is a local mission. They are working in the Phoenix mission office. They are really liking it and working closely with the missionaries which is great. Thanks for setting the example for us, we love you guys.

4-Nate has been home since we got back from Phoenix which has been great. His travel is going to go crazy in August and last for a while so it has been nice to have home. Max really loves his daddy. He prefers him to almost anyone else. Which is great for me and a little bit hard for Nate during the day when he is working from home and Max just wants to play with him. It is going to be really hard on all of us when he starts traveling again the end of July.

5-Max has learned how to open doors. He can open all the doors in our house now. Which is good because he likes to open and close doors A LOT. He plays that game about 10 times a day. It is nice that I don't have to stand at the door and open it for him anymore. It is not so good because he can get outside and into the bathrooms whenever he wants now. We usually keep all the outside doors locked but it is more of a pain to keep the bathroom doors locked. We are adjusting.

6-We ran the Kaysville 4th of July 5K fun run last friday. It was a lot of fun (that's the name of the run). We brought Max with us and he had a great time, even though he was really tired he was really good about it. I made Nate push him the whole way, it worked out great for me. We also watched the Kaysville parade and the fireworks show that night. It was a really good day. We had a great time, thanks to the Nybo's for letting us tag along on their family festivities all day. We love you guys. Max learned to love candy at the parade and really loved the fireworks. As soon as the show ended he wanted it "AGAIN". It was almost a melt down but we were able to distract him.

7-Max is now counting to 10. He just started doing it on the 4th. We were driving home from the run and he was in the backseat counting all by himself. Totally unprompted. He started only counting to 8 and calling it 18 (he really likes 18), since then he has corrected 8 and added 9 and 10. He is a genius I'm telling you. I don't know where he gets this stuff, he just picks it up. I'm not taking any credit for it. It wasn't anything I've done I don't think. He just really pays attention to things. He talks like crazy and is putting 2 words together all the time now. He can pretty much say everything he wants too. Which is great but he can't really express himself yet which is hard because I expect him too because he is so smart. I have to remind myself he is only 1.5.

8-My brother Rich and his family came into town the end of June. He just finished his transitional year and is starting with the Air Force as a flight surgeon. He had some time off before he had to report for duty so they came out here from South Dakota where they will be stationed for the next 3 years. It was great to see them and get to spend some time with their adorable kids. Max really likes playing with his cousins and he got to spend a lot of time with them while they were here. I have some cute pictures I will post soon of their trip. We pretty much got together every day with them. It was a lot of fun. It was great to see you guys. We love you. Can't wait to come visit you.

9-Nate has lost 40+ pounds since the first of the year. He is really dedicated and has been doing great. Way to go Babe. You are amazing. I wish I had your will power and determination.

10-On a more sober note, I had a miscarriage last week. I was about 11 weeks along. We were really excited about being pregnant but things hadn't been feeling right for a couple weeks. When we went into the doctor on July 3rd there was no heartbeat and the ultrasound was a for sure thing, I was pregnant with just a mass of cells. I miscarried that week and went back in to the doctor on the 10th and it was over pretty much. I have been not feeling well at all since about the middle of May (which is part of the reason I have been a hermit) but I feel much better now. I am ok with the whole thing now. I was really upset when we first found out but I think it is for the best. We are excited to try again. Sorry to end on such a sad note, I guess there is no real good way to say that. I just want to thank my Parents and family and Nate's parents for their love and support and prayers. I don't know what we would do without you guys.

That is pretty much all we have been up to. Things are going really well, and I am excited to be a part of your lives again (or atleast feel like I am through your blogs). I will post some pictures soon.
