Nature Photos...

Spring is here...I did a green color accent on this photo to make the green stand out...We had an absolutely beautiful spring day today and it was so nice to see the trees budding out!
I was walking through the brush when this little guy (Carolina Chickadee) flew by me and landed in a tree not far from me...

I couldn't miss this bit of color in the green grass (Northern Cardinal).

This little guy was making all the racket he could in hopes of finding a mate (Mockingbird).

I was so excited when I spotted this little bird. I knew it wasn't a bird I normally see but couldn't identify it until I looked at the photo on the computer. He is a blue-gray Gnatcatcher.

An Unknown wildflower. I've looked through all my wildflower books and could not find a clue. I thought it was pretty and very delicate.

Plains wild Indigo.

Prickly Pear Cactus.

An Egg Sack from a Spider. Not sure what type of spider.

Rattlebush seed pods. I took photos of this plants flower late last summer and here is the seed pod, which when shaken will rattle, hence the name.

Okay in the above photo is a Great Horned Owl...can you see him? Neither can I but I saw him fly up into this tree. I knew if I went closer he'd fly away so I just snapped a photo of the tree, lol....another "Where's Waldo".

I know I have a lot of photos of the Oak trees but with the evening sun they were just spectacular. I love how massive they are and they have the perfect branches to make a tree fort...sigh if I was only a kid again, lol...

I do not have a clue what the tree/bush these red berries belong too, but I do know the birds love the berries....

That was my nature walk for today. Not to many new or different wildflowers today but plenty of interesting things to see...

A Boy and Rocks ~ digital layout

Just a quick digital layout I did of Michael studying rocks.
The word art I did myself and it reads:
Earth and Sky
Woods and Fields
Lakes and Rivers
the Mountain and the sea,
are excellant schoolmasters, and teach some of
us more that we can ever learn from books.
~ Sir John Lubbock ~

The rocks I found here: http://www.lalalime.blogspot.com/

Fence row cleaning ~ slideshow

We spent a few hours Saturday and Sunday working on cleaning fence rows. Here are a few photos I took in between working...I cut and made small brush piles while Fred moved my piles into the bigger brush piles for burning...I honestly don't think Fred wanted to work, instead he wanted to play with the tractor, lol...I had to remind him several times that if he got off the DARN tractor and helped me cut brush we might get the fence row cleaned out a bit faster....He'd get off the tractor for a little bit, that is until we had a few small brush piles going then off he'd go back on the tractor to move them, lol...any excuse to work with the tractor...

Jake was so cute too...I didn't have the camera on me at the time...but while we were cutting brush Jake was grabbing a hold of branches and trying with all his might to move them too!! We had a good laugh over that...Michael stacked the wood we might use for campfires in a pile too...So we were all working hard and accomplished quiet a bit. We are working on one section at a time and as soon as we get this section all cleaned up we'll put new fence post and fence up...One little step at a time!

When we are done working Fred always takes Michael for a ride on the tractor, Michaels reward for helping us and for being so good while we are working...Michael loves it and looks so smug when he is up on the tractor...

More photos from Michael...

Michael took more photos this weekend. I love his point of view...of course the racier photos I left out, lol...Enjoy!
