Grandma's Flower Garden

I have been fortunate to recently inherit my Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt.  The quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted.  This quilt was most likely made in the late 1800's to early 1900.  I always have admired this quilt but so much more since I began quilting.  I remember, as a child, sitting with my "Granny" as she would sew and always admired her beautiful handwork.  I have my grandmother's treadle sewing machine and hope someday to piece a quilt top on it.  Unfortunately, I didn't begin quilting until after her death and I know she would have been so thrilled for us to share this wonderful craft.

Today I am looking forward to a sewing day with a dear friend.  I so enjoy spending time with her and it's especially fun to share our love of quilting.  Our hubbies are buddies and they have a full day of activities planned so we are excited to do some serious quilting today!  I was able to pull together a few UFO's to take along :-) !!  The oldest one dates back at least 3 years ago and is something that I would like to finish in the next few months for a very special occasion.  Just in case the recipient  checks out my blog I had better not say too much more!  We will see how things go!

Enjoy your weekend!

Fed the Fabric Monster Today

I had a very enjoyable little journey today to a new (to me) quilt shop tucked away in Morgantown, Indiana.  Ady's Fabrics and Notions.

My friend and I found the shop to be well stock with plenty of fabrics and friendly people.  Today they were having the first Saturday sale and everything in the store was at least 20% discounted.  We, of course, found some things we NEEDED!!  Just as all quilters NEED something when they are at a quilt store!  I am excited to get started on a project for my oldest granddaughter who will soon be celebrating her 6th birthday.

First Post of the New Year

Good Morning!  This is my second attempt into the blogger world.  I really enjoyed blogging before but the dark side of blogging - unwanted guests - decided to start posting comments that were not so welcomed so I took a break.  I give credit to my friend Linda for the motivation to re-enter the blogging world..  She has a great blog and I so enjoy watching for her posts.  She is a very talented quilting artist and I love to see her posts about all the beautiful things she creates.

This is a picture of us (Papa and Nana) with our dear grandchildren.  They bring us great joy and have completed our life to the fullest.  We are so fortunate to see them often, in fact several times a week!  God has blessed us with two wonderful sons who happened to choose great daughter in laws for us to love, and they blessed us with three PERFECT grandchildren!!  We have another blessing on the way due in March.  Life is good!
