Justine Henin!

On May 14, the world defending women champion who started off as the 5th ranked player in 2003 and ended the year at world no. 1, has announced the end of her tennis career at the press conference held at her tennis academy, she opened on 30 Nov.

Its a sad news to hear from her (cos I'm a fan of her!)

I can no longer watch how significant her games, her strokes &her powerful one-handed backhand are :( it was really admirable. So dismal that she's leaving :(

“For the last few months I’ve been looking ahead and thinking about who I want to become,” she said. “When I won Madrid Masters final [beating Maria Sharapova 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in a duel lasting over three hours], which for me was the high point of my career, I felt scared about starting training again the day after I came back from my holidays. I wanted to train but I just felt like something had gone inside me. I found it harder and harder to keep packing my bags and the training was getting more and more difficult.”

After suffering from 4 defeats this year, including the lost to Sharapova at Aust Open (6-4 6-0) and Serena Williams in Miami (6-2 6-0), had undermined her movtivation to continue the career. At Berlin, she lost to Dinara Safina in the thrid round (5–7, 6–3, 6–1), which turned out to be the final career match.

“I’ve thought about this long and hard,” she continued, “both on my own and with my people. Carrying on like this for another six months or a year could have made me feel bitter about things. This way, I’m leaving as world number one and that’s important to me.”

In total, she had racked up 41 titles in all (including 7 Grand Slams, 2 Masters titles and an Olympic gold medal at Athens), and had sustained at the top rank for 117 weeks to be exact.

However, the frenetic pace took its toll within these few years.

“I’ve achieved everything I ever dreamed of,” said Henin. “Winning Wimbledon [the only Grand Slam to evade her grasp] wouldn’t make me any happier than I am today.”

And so with about 10 days away from her favourite tournament, the French Open, she decided to hang up her racket for good and concentrate on charity and her tennis academy.

This is the last competition I was gotta take part till the end of my O Level. Yet again, I was lucky enough to meet a not-so-strong opponent in this 1st round (: But in the 2nd round, it was rather tough for me. I met a china girl! :( Boo! Haha. I have to admit that she's not those arrogant kind of typical ____ girl, but what kind of made me felt uneasy was, she had a whole load of supporters cheering boisterously for her. With them cheering, it made me feel as if many eyes were looking at the match. Yuck, I don't really like this feeling. But since it was my last match, I wanted to give my best and I believe I did. Yeah, so no regrets for that match (:

Alright, I am here to update my blog, Miss Ding!

Had been going out everyday ever since MYE ended.

On Tuesday, to Kbox with Jessica Ong &Low, Qizhi, Zhengyee &Yi Chun :D We drew away involuntarily whenever we asked each other to sing at the beginning. But eventually, everyone started singing. Even the quietest sang! Hahaha. Yeah, we kinda force Yi Chun to sing. At least the money didn't go down the drain.

Left at about 8 and headed to some food court for dinner! Chatted till late. LOL! Jessica Ong was really hilarious to the extend that you can go LOL &your cheeks will turn sour about what she had told us.

To Zhengyee's house because I wanted to grab some music files. We talked a little and watched some YouTube videos and were off at 1130. Managed to catch the bus with Jessica Ong. &home sweet home (:

On Wednesday, meet up with the Sec4 team! :D Firstly, headed to buy Daphne Khoo's album! at The Cathay. Yeah, I like those kind of songs where the guitar is drumming at the background :D

To Seoul Garden at Bugis at 5 plus. Mr Phua's treat as promised because we advanced to Top8 Nationals! :D I wonder what would it be if we were to proceed to Top4! Gahhhhhh, we should have won Chung Cheng! :\ Okay. Anyhow, we arrived there early, so we had to wait for the 'Big Shots' (Miss Lim &Mr Phua) XD We waited, waited &waited, finally they came. We dug in at about 7. Hahaha. Our table seems to be the most busy one. Yo's table was the least. But we were to the first to stop. Squeezed ourselves (13 pax) into 2 tables and chit chatted. Since there was school the next day, we left Bugis at 9 plus. Miss Lim drove me home &Jacq to Holland.

Thursday :( Time to face my horrible results. I failed my chinese paper 2 :\ But overall, I passed! (: Ya, my chinese is that bad. Likewise for my English, hahaha! I didn't score that well. Okay, my language subjects really sucked. Since I screwed up my science practical, it pulled my overall marks down drastically. As for my Chem, I felt like there's no huge difference even if I studied for it. So I just got a passing mark. Boo! And I can't write at a fast speed. I didn't have enough time for Humanities. Since my SBQ was left undone, I got a failing mark for it. There's no use even when I got about 20 marks for SEQ. Boooo! Hahaha. Ya, I am not satisfied with my results. Yes, I will work hard for Prelims (: Nono, I will not break this promise.

After school, to Republic Singapore for the open house. The library is really cool. But it doesn't have the course that I want, so I doubt I will study there next year. Overall, a pretty nice experience (:

Friday, nothing much. Just got back more papers. After school, attended some kind of chinese lesson at the library. Its quite helpful as the teachers gave us tips of how to score and do well for the coming MT Olevels. To look out for key points and stuff. Yeah, thanks teachers :D To English lesson next. Not exactly a lesson, we were just there to do a piece of work (situational writing). Ya, left the school at about 6.

We were craving to watch movie then.
So we decided to catch this (with Zhengyee &Yi Chun).
A rather unique storyline, but predicitve.
Like the couple will end up together and stuff.
We stayed till the end of the credits &a short scene appeared!
