We took the long way home...

As we drove home the other night we decide to take the long way home and snap a few photos with our little pocket camera. Here is a sampling.

Union Station

We are taking advantage of R.AM.P. grants which are offering free activities on Saturdays during the summer throughout the county. On the 13th all the museums at the Union Station were free. L and CD were the only kids available kids that came with us. We visited the train museum, the automobile museum, and the Browning Gun museum. We had a great time! Thanks Weber Co. and RAMP!

In the caboose...

in an engine room

CD in the engineer's seat

I had to take this photo of K standing by this rail handcart because he used to race using this exact car. Soon after we first got married I watched him race. There were several local teams and some professional traveling teams also. Klint's team won 2nd place the year I watched and 1st the prior year.

We didn't know it before we went, but the Union Station was also hosting the Arts Festival. That was great. I loved hearing the performances and browsing the booths. CD enjoyed the crafts.

Lagoon Sky Coaster

Even though it was only a 12 day job, we were able to take advantage of one of the employee benefits offered. We could ride the Sky Coaster for only $5.00 instead of the typical $15.00. I had to take advantage of this. If I knew about the perk sooner I would have done it more than once, but it was only found out by word of mouth from former 12 day employees... and it took ten days to get around to me. But I took advantage of it on the 11th day, and tried on the 12th but the lines were extremely long on the 12th and there was no way I could ride while on my break. I am glad I did it on the 11th day!

This is me with two other "moms" that worked. They wanted me to go with them to pull the rip-cord 'cuz neither one of them wanted to pull it. So I did.

This is the ride from a distance. There are a couple people that you can barely see about to be launched. You are launched from 153 feet and "fly" or "swing" up to 80 mph. It is a rush... the best way to swing!

Here we are getting ready to go up to the launch tower.

And here we are swinging...or flying...

Starting to slow down...

Coming to and end...

The finish...

Catch Up -- Talent Show

Primary had a talent show and the Activity Girls ages 8-10 were in charge or making the poster. Since I am one of the leaders I had to take a photo of the sign. We had each girl do at l letter of the sign. We have 12 girls so a few girls did an extra letter.

CD played Beauty and the Beast. She was a little nervous so had a slip up, but recovered well and did a fantastic job. I included a video of her song. Some other talents included singing, hula-hooping, magic tricks, speed stacking etc.

At the end the chorister had all those that wanted to participate come on stage and sing "Popcorn Popping"

Catch Up --School Fair

On May 8th the elementary had their annual fair. CD and her cousin had a great time playing together all evening.

Catch Up -- Utah

The 4th grade had a concert singing the songs they had learned this past school year about the great state of UTAH. CD loves singing the songs around the house and still sings them now. Here are a few photos and a video of the County Song. I hope you enjoy it.

Catch Up -- Idaho

May 16 K and the boys in family made an over-night trip to Uncle Billy's in Idaho to pick up a tractor. The drove up with Grandma & Grandpa and had a fun time. They didn't get any pictures of Uncle Billy, K or the grandparents, but they did get these few photos and they enjoyed the visit.

licence to eavesdrop

I spent an hour in the dentist chair today. The dentist and his hygienist chatted back and forth as I lay there in the middle listening to their conversation. Somehow I felt I shouldn't be there, even though it wasn't personal at all... it just felt odd to be up-close-and-personal while they discussed several topics. I closed my eyes and became silently entertained as their conversation jumped from topic to topic. Left over spaghetti for dinner last night, LIFE cereal for breakfast, and no, he did not make a PB & J sandwich for lunch despite having all the makings in the back room. Instead, it was donuts and milk.

There were no exciting plans for dinner for the hygienist, she having invited friends over but having been turn down she now jokingly feels like the "low-man-on-the-totem-pole".
I learned of an uncle who after 49 years of marriage lost his wife and is having a hard time missing her; a cousin who recently got engaged after knowing her fiance for only 28 days; and I even learned of the need to buy fish for the fish pond.
The hygienist was teased for having big fingers which led to the neighbor that is a rancher/dentist and he has HUGE ranch hands which left my dentist wondering how his neighbor could be a dentist with such big hands.

That led to the cat who had his "fangs" pulled and it cost $600! That is more than they charge for human teeth...and apparently the one pulling the cat's teeth did not appreciate the prying questions of the one working on my teeth... Cats. They both like cats and debated the need to de-claw the cats. Getting the cats fixed, however, was not cause for debate. They both agreed, they need to be fixed.

The dentist went to Colorado last year to visit a boy in the hospital who had a diving accident and was paralysed. "Do you know the Pack's? " My eyes opened at the silence that followed to see both the dentist and hygienist just staring at me waiting for my answer. "I don't know them, but my daughter does and she follows his progress on his blog". http://joshpackupdates.blogspot.com/ That is what I wanted to say. But with the bite-block, numbing agent, and who know how many fingers in my mouth, all that came out was, "mmm uuu mmm" and a nod. I closed my eyes again and I learned about the benefits of working through college as a roofer and I learned that if there was a need to choose between and bicycle and a car, it would be the bicycle.

Catch Up-- Mother's Day

We spent Mother's Day (May 10) in Huntsville with my in-laws. We gave the camera to CDA for the day and asked her to take pictures. So here is a sampling of Mother's Day from the view of a 10 year old.

Starting to catch up---Fathers and Sons

I have a lot to catch up on so I guess I had better get started! I plan on post-dating several blogs today, so I can keep viewers busy for the next several days. I will probably schedule the blogs every other day...and slowly catch up on the last couple of months!

Fathers and Sons was on May 2. J decided not to go but CE and K went camping and had a great time. The following are the only photos that were taken so they are the ones I am sharing.

Waking up at 6:15 isn't so easy for this 13 year old!

Exploring is always fun...
