Softball

Baseball/Softball season started for the kids. CD is playing again this year and it is like she is starting all over. She has become very timid of the ball. Maybe recollections of her brother's shattered cheek bones caused by a wayward pitch? She is having fun and we have fun watching her play. Go CD! CE also started but sprained his knee during practice and wasn't able to play in the first game. We are taking him out for the season because the doctor said no sports for 3 weeks. I seem to recall that last year he missed the whole baseball season because he broke his hand the weekend before his first game...

Mulet Boy

Don't worry, it was just for fun. He only had the mulet for the few minutes it took to take the pictures. He then had the back cut off and even more off the rest...his hair is quite short now. Ready for a hot summer!

Cinco de Mayo

A family in our ward owns a local Mexican Resturant so we had a ward Cinco de Mayo party held at the resturant in the courtyard area. We had a buffet style dinner, some bounce toys for kids, pinatas, and a jalepino eating contest. My dad, husband, and son all entered the contest. CE blew everyone away. K had just finished his second when CE finished his 4th and was going to work on his 5th. Dad and K stopped after 2 (and tied for 2nd place) since CE was so far ahead...everyone else was just trying to get their first one down and swallowed. As CE picked up his 6th he was told he already won and doesn't need to eat any more so he stopped having eaten 5. He had a good time...and I started calling him "Hot Lips".

My George Washington

Just thought I'd share a story. The month of April is our "burn" month and at the month I still had a few things to burn so I gave CE the job of getting the pile ready while I was at an appointment. I had a few trimmings and 2 dead trees that needed to be removed and burned. I had a row of 6 fruit trees. The very first and the very last were both dead. When I came home I was happy that CE had done his job as I had a nice stack of wood to start burning. It wasn't long until I noticed he forgot the first dead tree but I didn't worry about it until the pile was burning good. It was then that I noticed he cut down the two end trees. One dead and one very live, in bloom Apple tree. I was SO SAD! I guess he was having fun chopping down trees. On the bright side, he stopped after only taking out one live fruit tree! The bummer is the apples were so good! We do have one other apple tree in the front yard so we won't be appleless... Apples alternate "bumper crop" years and give a big crop every other year. The tree cut down produce the opposite year of the other tree....so we had apples every year. Anyway, after I got over my sadness I sent him outside to remove the stump. I took pictures to remind me to share my sadness.
