Happy Anniversary to me and N8!!

This weekend we had the opportunity to go to my cousins wedding. It was of course a little crazy, some of the family got lost and didn't make it, there was traffic, we were tired. BUT they got married and sealing for time and all eternity. It was wonderful to be able to hear and remember the covenants that N8 and I took upon us 7 years ago today!

I don't know about you but for me, my wedding day was kind of a blur. I do remember a few things:
  • I remember seeing my grandparents there in the sealing room and realizing that this would probably be their last time to go to the temple
  • I remember getting up at 5am so my sister could do my hair and make-up
  • I remember my brother getting me a huge Dr Pepper to help me get through the reception
  • I remember seeing all 5 of my siblings with my parents in the sealing room.
  • I remember thinking why in the world did we have our reception on the same day as our wedding
  • I remember just getting to our hotel and my sister calling to "see how we were doing!"
What funny, interesting or thoughtful things do you remember from your wedding day??

No one faint - a book (well two) review!

Those who know me might know I love to read, honestly rarely do. There is a perfectly good explanation though, when I start I just can't stop! Last week I checked out "The 100 Dresses" by Elenor Estes. It's a little book, 88 pages with illustrations. It's a story of a little girl who was teased for wearing the same dress everyday to school. She told everyone she had 100 dresses. We're thinking of using this book as the theme for our next quarterly Home, Family and Personal Enrichment night. We would do a clothing drive for our local women's shelter.

Then a friend recommended "Austenland" by Shannon Hale. Any Jane Austen fans will find this to be a quick, fun, lighthearted read and some might even wish that they could go to Austenland themselves. I'm still in debate! It's just under 200 pages and I read it in an evening. Now I need to go break out my copy of the A&E Pride and Prejudice!

Now, just for Amy I now have put "Poison Study" by Maria V Snyder on hold at our library.
I might be neglecting my family, but I am enjoying some books!

Our intrigue with free stuff?

Is it just more or do you LOVE free stuff! I'm a sucker for the freebies at Costco, the free formula you get after you have a baby (I breastfeed and I still signed up for it to give away!). I've been a member of BzzAgent for a while now and gotten some really fun stuff free!! My favorite item!
A free sonicare toothbrush. I've also got some great snacks and cleaning stuff.

Now I've noticed a trend among the blogging world to give away free stuff. Now this is intriguing to me since I love free stuff, but at the same time a little hard to understand. Why are people giving stuff away and why do people come to their blogs in droves to try and get the free stuff? I recently found this blog Blog Giveaways that lists blogs that are doing free giveaways. Check it out, follow the blog trail and get some free stuff. Let me know if you succeed and I might have to give it a try myself but as of yet I'm a little intimidated by the free blogging stuff!

Where have I been?

So where have I been? Not very many places!

create your own personalized map of the USA
or check out ourCalifornia travel guideBut in just about 4 weeks I get to add Hawaii to that map!!!

So I feel at a loss at what to post lately. Our lives got turned a little upsidedown for the last two weeks. N8 left on travel on Easter Sunday evening. Then that Wednesday my sisters family came to visit! We love it when they come we play lots of games (Ticket to Ride, Settlers, Shanghi-rummy and Mexican Train!) and my kids stay entertained the entire time. There was a huge downside to the visit though. N8 came home with the FLU!!! It was terrible. He ended up in bed the entire weekend and then about 90% of this past week. He finally woke up yesterday with energy, no fever, no aches, no pains!!

While my sister was here we did some fun things though. We celebrated her birthday and we went to the California Poppy Preserve .
