From Shabby to Shabby Chic...

Today I read this amazing article in the New York Times (online) Home and Garden section, it's about a woman who turned a 9x14 Catskills hunting cabin into a romantic Victorian cottage. She decorated using flea market finds and bargains from Target in their Shabby Chic collection by Rachel Ashwell (one of my favorite collections).  The cost of renovating and furnishing of this cute little cottage was only $3,000. Another amazing thing is that she renovated  it all on her own...impressive and inspiring, wouldn't you agree?

I hope that you are enjoying your day!

Tuesday Randomness...

Hello All!

Have you ever just had one of those days...where you just want to scream and vent to anyone who will listen? Well I am having one of those!

This post isn't going to be full of bubble gum and cupcakes...sorry! On Sunday I participated in MannLand5.com "Getting to Know YOU" and question #3 really got me thinking..."I can't stand it when...?" Well here is my extended answer.

I am NOT perfect, in any way shape or form, but I can honestly say that I am the same person I was in high school and when I was in my 20's...pretty straight forward, blunt, honest and true to myself and what I believe in.  I can't stand it when people change the who they are just to fit in, the way you dress, act and who you hang around. I try for my blog to honestly represent who I am as a person, if you know me (personally) then I hope that is true. Have you ever read someone's blog or facebook page and thought to yourself "Man, that's not how I remember her/him." I know that people have a right to change, but when it's so drastic that even YOU forget who you are, then maybe it's time to be the REAL you! No, this isn't directed towards anyone...I am just venting!

I can't stand it when people blame their childhood on who they are today! I was married to a man who is an alcoholic, he blamed it on the fact that his mother and father where also alcoholics...but he wasn't even raised by his parents, he was raised by his grandparents who didn't drink a drop! I know people who blame their actions on what they experienced as a child or teenager...if anything, you should learn from the mistakes and experiences from your past, so not to make them in the future! If I did that, I would be a lying, cheating, drug addicted alcoholic who attempted and possibly succeed suicide. I am sure that we all have shitty stories we can tell about our childhoods, but don't blame the past for who you are today...make your own future...be your own person...YOU are the boss of YOU, at least I hope you are!

Are you being true to yourself, to your family, friends, your readers? I hope that when I meet my blog friends, they aren't disappointed in the person they meet...that they can honestly say that who I am on my blog, is who I am in person!

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.  ~Judy Garland

Okay, I am done venting...sorry for the bitchy post...it happens!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

xoxo~Meg

Getting to Know YOU...

Good Morning, it's Sunday and that means it's time for another round of Getting to Know YOU, brought to you by MannLand5.com!

Happy Father's Day to all of the dad's out there, especially the most amazing dad of all....my husband, Gabe! I love you honey, enjoy your day!

1. While at the beach, pool, etc..Do you cover up your assets or show them off? Oh, I cover up all that I can without looking too silly!

2. Road trips or Plane trips? Road trips!

3. I can't stand it when...? Well I could write a whole post on this, but here are a few to get started...I can't stand it when people change that way they act just to fit in, when people are always late, when they don't go through with what they have promised(in the blog world as well), follow through people, don't have giveaways if you don't plan on sending out the prizes, I know it's free stuff, but if you didn't plan on actually giving the free stuff away...don't post it!

4. Have you ever gone topless at the beach? NEVER!

5. How many blog carnivals do you do a week? I guess I'm sure what a blog carnival is...oops!

6. My favorite thing about the weekend is...? Hanging out with my family!

7. Pancakes or waffles? Pancakes!!

8. Water Park or Amusement Park? Amusement Park!

There are my answers, what are yours? Play along and link up at MannLand5.com....you know you want to!

Have a great day!

Friday Facts {Image Heavy}...

Hello Stranger, I've Missed You!
It seems like forever since I've blogged, but I am back with lots of pictures to show you from our vacation road trip to South Carolina!

Okay, here are the FACTS!

FACT: This post will have a lot of photos!!!
FACT: We had a blast!

I took this of Izzy right before we left, I just had to show you!

First stop on the trip was Shiloh, Illinois...we got there pretty late, so we just took some photos inside the hotel.

On the way we saw a sign for a city called Metropolis, Illinois...we had to stop!
It had Superman everything! Plus there was a couple of museums to wander through and pass the time...

The world's largest Superman statue!
It looks like Izzy is riding on Gabe's back!
One of the museum's was a Hollywood theme...

Man are these wax figures detailed???

This next photo is a little racy, so if you have small children around...cover their eyes...

I couldn't believe they had this in a family museum!

After Illinois we stayed in Powell, Tennessee, it was really close to Gatlinburg so we headed over there to the Ripley's Aquarium...

If you are ever in Gatlinburg, this is a must see!!!

Our GPS took us on some interesting routes through the mountains, but it was worth it when you get to see sights like this...

I think that Izzy was trying to push me off the mountain!

Next stop...Summerville, South Carolina!

Izzy LOVED the water and the sand!

We stayed with Gabe's brother Willie and his family, we had so much fun spending time with them!
We all went to downtown Charleston and walked around on the boardwalk...I forgot my camera in the car...Ragan got really sick and just about passed out from the heat! We ate at a really neat brewery that had 3 floors, poor Ragan...she threw up on the table during lunch (thank goodness she just drank water) she felt much better after that! When we got back she got sick again, I figured she was a little dehydrated and over heated so we made the kids stay indoors the rest of the evening.

On the way home we stayed in Kodak, Tennessee. I bought the kids some yummy treats from a candy shop across the street from our hotel called the Chocolate Monkey...

Ragan wouldn't eat any of it!

This was taken inside our hotel room when we stayed in Louisville, Kentucky...the geese really wanted to come inside! We fed them some crackers and the next morning I heard them pecking at the glass wanting more!

That evening we went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner, the kids thought it was pretty funny that Gabe and I wore bibs!

The restaurant was right on the Ohio River, it was so pretty down there!

Then on the way back to Missouri I got to meet this beautiful lady...

To answer your question...Yes, she is as amazing in person as she is on her blog!

Love you Jamie, I wish we could have spent more time together....come on September!!!

FACT: I am glad to be home!

xoxo~Meg
