What. Is. This.

We've been having several career talks these days in school.

And now the thought of our future course is a nagging voice at the back of our heads.

Not that we're worried about it yet, I think.

There was a roadshow up in the hall a few days ago. Most of us took the brochures for one common purpose - not to help us decide our future, not to show our parents, but to fan ourselves. It was hot up there.

Maxine envisaged Olivia in Broadway.

And we will all spend our money to go and watch her performance, after which we will all go, "Brava! Brava! That's my friend up there!"

And we'll look for Olivia afterwards... "You remember me, right?"

And Olivia will lower her glasses and say,

"Who. Are. You."

Oh. No, wait. We had a better suggestion.

She'll lower her glasses and ask,

"What. Is. This."

Or in an even more elaborate version (after reading about the things you study in one Music Degree)

"I have studied music extensively! I can identify a chord 4 miles away! I can listen to intervals! But you! You I do not know!"

That was it. But Olivia didn't like that vision. Lol. Then she imagined Maxine sitting behind the computer. Maxine didn't like that either because it might mean that she's unemployed. I imagined Abigail in a pets' shelter, looking after cats. And they imagined me with a secretary and an answering machine. And Andrea wants to work along Adam Lambert.

Perhaps we are all still unfit to think about our future.....

Really, Broadway, computer, cats, answering machine and Adam?

Debate 2009

After 365 days, I find myself once again back in the comforts of the Resource Room, hogging the Internet. Joy.

Except it wasn't really about me this time. =D

Still, it didn't mean that there was nothing for me to learn.

Oh, I've learnt plenty in fact.

Like... like Emmeline uses facial masks every day and has at least 5 steps to her daily face washing routine (which takes place twice a day).

And like Alicia can't whistle. Or pops her mouth. And it annoys her to the core when people start popping around her. (note to self: pop more) :P

And Stephanie makes a great Elvis impersonator!

The preparation time had to be divided because of the Robotics competition (which they did very well in and I am therefore, happy and proud. :D) so in between those times, we had plenty of time to do silly things.

Like making Eleena draw Spongebob and Plankton (her Plankton's a bit overweight...)

And making Emmeline whistle "We Will Rock You" (which was silly because nobody whistles a rock tune.... but she pulled it off! -.-")

And I'm pretty sure we did  far sillier things than those but I'm old so I can't remember much anymore. My apologies though, for the facial expression Abigail and I made while you guys were presenting. Most of time it wasn't about you, it was just us laughing at random things like the "Knowledge is Power!" slogan standing proudly behind you. That was funny! We couldn't help ourselves. Sorry for that. :) We passed notes to each other and in one of those messages was "I think we should stop making facial expression and passing notes."

But I believe we all had fun. Right? Amen?

Meet Emmeline the Demoness.

She's the bimbo this year

She said the photo was ugly. I had to battle my phone out of her grasp to prevent her from deleting it. She promised that she'd take a nicer photo but I didn't believe her.

Next thing I knew was her cam-whoring with Alicia's camera during quarantine.

But I never got that picture. So it's forgivable that I didn't delete this. It's the only one I have! Heh.

She can whistle Supercalifragilisticespialidocious! Envy. Her favourite Disney movie is Mulan. And she learnt to whistle because she watched Robin Hood when she was young. Or was it Red Riding Hood? There was something -hood, I remember.

Told you I learnt plenty! *grins*

Then meet Alicia the Feminist.

The lighting's horrible but I couldn't snap another picture because she scolded me for distracting her. And she was in the middle of her presentation.

So it's completely forgivable that I post this not-so-nice picture with her eyes half-closed which made her look drowsy photo because once again, it's the only one I have. :D

She's soppy. (read this, Miss Eng?)

She won't let me see her drawings. And her favourite Disney movie's Beauty and the Beast but she watched Mulan a gamillion times in 2 months because her cousin's obsessed with it . And she has problems with "touching" (soppy!). And lame. She lame that when I taught her the Fleming's Left Hand Rule Yo-sign, she changed it to "YO-O-HI"....  (you know... like.. POI?)

Get what I mean when I say I learnt plenty?

And.... I forgot to snap Stephanie's picture! That's not really forgivable because the thought of snapping pictures only came to me after her presentation. =( Sorry for that.

There was a time we got so lost, we sat down and preached about "love" to each other. That was fun. :D And she likes the big boss chair. No wait, she loves the big boss chair.

And then here are the group pictures we took on our last day there.

This is one of all the teachers, debaters and younger helpers. I'm not in it but they all look so happy so... I post la... haha.

Left to right: Gabrielle, Guinevere, Mdm. Chan, Alicia, Emmeline, Rebecca Chin, Abigail Asrina, Stephanie Nina, Pn. Zalina, Eleena, Ena and Rebecca Su (squating because she's too tall)

Anyway, I forgot to mention what we do during quarantine. We sing, we dance, we talk and we discuss movies and books. Emmeline whistles and dances ballet. Alicia sings musicals and dances the Doulos dance. Stephania and I watch with amusement while Eleena draws. Oh, I forgot. Emmeline blots her face too. And then, we show off our different abilities. And we take pictures. And then after all that, we start to pace about as the panic starts to set in. =)

I realise we talk about our childhood a lot because we talk about Disney movies and Roald Dahl's children book. I like George's Marvellous Medicine! But that's besides the point....

This has me but it doesn't have Elaine.

And... they don't smile as wide anymore. =.="

And when we returned in the night after the first day, I got the shock of my life when Alicia asked me to take over her for the third topic. And naturally, as what a normal mature person would normally do..... I begged her to take it back. So there we were, spending half the time debating (if you can even call it that) on who should do it. Everybody else just had fun watching us.]

We settled in the end that should it be government, she shall do it and if it's opposition, I shall do it.

For that, she promised to wish me Happy Birthday next year.

And here's one with Elaine in it and not me.

And... their wide smiles are back. =.="

Eleena and I switched handphones while watching the Maong vs. Matang debate in the afternoon so when we send sms-es, it got a bit confusing. Especially when we sms Christine.

Me: (on Eleena's phone) *sth lame i forgot*

Christine: You've been hanging out with Lipyi too much! You got influenced!

Eleena: (on my phone) Mimi you bloody idiot, how dare you think I'll get influenced by another bloody idiot like lipyi so easily!

Eleena's phone was all haywired so I couldn't really reply anything.... until I dropped her phone and all returned to normal. ;p

Me: You should thank me for dropping your phone!

Eleena: You drop it again la!!

Me: If I drop it again, it'll be spoilt again!

Eleena: Then I'll throw the phone at you!

Me: Oh. Then it'll be fine again!

Growing older with a drink

First of all,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ABIGAIL!

And next is,

HAPPY TEACHERS' DAY!

It wasn't so bad this year. :D

The birthday gal :)

We performed. The Form 5 bandies. It was rushed and we were supposed to play 2 songs and I'm pretty sure there was supposed to be more movement and better entrance and exit and still... well... it still had to be pretty awesome. Because we only had 2 days. Add up all our practice time and it's probably... 2 hours. Haha.

And my amplifier went cacat during the entrance. So then it sounded as though there was no entrance. Because I was the entrance. Woe is me. And my amplifier. =(

But oh! Joanna was awesome!! And Lysandra. And Adeline. And Gurprit! Omg... Gurprit. That was one of the best. :D

Did I mention I wanted to run up and get the lucky draw thing? Well, yea, I did. I was just about to get off my chair and make a run for it (after Amanda nudged me) when Dae announced, "... BUT!! Form 1 only!" so I retired back to chair. =( Then I went to sit at the Clarinets' row because I wanted to be in time for the next lucky draw. And just to ward off the competition, I told Amanda to go backstage and inform Dae to invite band members next.

But then....

The form 1 lucky draw was the last one.

Woe is me. +_+"

Anyway, we celebrated Abigail's birthday at Pizza Hut that night. :D

The cake

9 of us went for the celebration. It was kinda like a celebration for our freedom from exams too. Apparently when we reach form 5 and have to endure 3 weeks of exams, we take these freedom breaks pretty heavily. :)

Food was nice. Company was nice. We made so much noise that when we left and the waitress said "Please come again." we were like "Oh! They want us to come again!".

Maxine came wearing a shirt that said "My boyfriend is Mr. Perfect".

Us: So you have a boyfriend now!

Maxine: Yea...! He's Mr. Perfect!

Olivia: Why is he purple?

Emily: He's Ribena!

Olivia: So you're lemon la?

Then Olivia tried tricking me (I still believe her original target was Maxine) that she has a boyfriend.

Olivia: (staring right into me eyes) I have a boyfriend right? The one that brought me here the other day??

Me: (saw the "play along with me" glare) Yea! THAT's your BOYFRIEND?? I thought he's your cousin or something!?

Maxine: WHO IS HE!?

10 minutes later... (after finding out that Olivia was indeed, joking and had moved on to talk about fireworks)

Maxine: Your boyfriend and you no more fireworks liaw is it?

Olivia: Ya. We just broke up!

Maxine: Why? Was the wind too strong on his bike?

Olivia: Yes. (sarcastic) It was so strong, it blew his fake hair away and revealed he was bald!

Me: O_O" What?!

Erica left after dinner. We paid and then being adventurous, we went to Senso.

Senso

We were so sakai. The ambience was pretty.

And being kuai kids, we ordered non-alcoholic drinks.

One glass cost RM 15.

So we all resorted to sharing. We were 8 kids with 4 glasses of zero-proof drinks.

Virgin Manhattan

They suspected that the Virgin Manhattan had some alcohol in it because it tasted slightly bitter. It might be the cranberries. But it's so pretty. Even though it tastes like the pinkish kiddy fever medicine.

But we didn't get drunk. We're kuai. It's zero proof anyways.

I ordered a safer choice of drink with Maryann. :)

Honeydew juice

The glass wasn't so pretty though. :P

When Abigail visited the washroom, we wanted to request a song for her. But then we thought better of it because we are still kids.

Though maybe not Olivia. :)

The pretty ambience

Speaking of Olivia, she was sms-ing in Senso so we assumed that it was her boyfriend begging on his knees for forgiveness. :p

Maxine: Come on, Olivia! Isn't our love stronger than this? Isn't our love stronger than my hair?!

Me: No, actually. It's as strong as your hair! It's over the moment your hair flew off!

The one side

The tv was showing ESPN. Man U won against Arsenal. Lol.

A gang of ang mohs came in after us and we were really quite grateful. Before they came, people kept stealing glances at us (even though we were sitting in a corner, separated by a wall). So strange. But ang moh's conversation drowned ours so yea... grateful. :D

The other side

And that was the end. We went back from Hilton to watch Grey's and other things.

I think Abigail's birthday is a pretty awesome one too. :D

I enjoy it as much as my own.

To turn 17 in Senso. *winks* ;)

Growing older with a drink

Happy 17th. :) Hope you've had a great one.
