Lately

So my birthday has ended but being 17 feels pretty great. :)

But first, congratulations to the Swinburne debate team! I have never felt so proud. xD

There's been quite a bit of singing in class lately. ;p And since every Wednesday is now BM day, we sing in BM too.

Kamu jadi putera! Saya jadi puteri!

Ini kisah cinta!

Bayi, katakan ya!

We are so supportive of BM. :)

It's crazier with Amy, since we now duty together. ;p But I shall save that for another day. Amy loves bamboo btw. Haha. Because she said bamboo tall.

Evil.

It's today! It's today!

I turned 17 today. :)

And it was a pretty awesome 17th birthday. :)

From the 3A1s bandies :) So sweet! (pun intended)

All thanks to God, my bf(s)fn, my very young godmother, the bandies, the juniors and my parents, who still took the liberty to celebrate with me even though I’d annoyed the daylights out of them for the past 17 days. Thanks, peeps! :)

Oh, and sorry Elaine, that I got annoyed with you in the beginning of the day!

Where I had my birthday lunch :)

And I apologise for the annoyance. I know I may have advertised my birthday sedikit terlalu banyak, but I honestly wasn’t expecting anything. I really just enjoy the interaction. :)

And thank God those around me are so open-minded that they do actually entertain my antics. Even when I’d forgotten the tune to my song, they sang for me! Lol! I enjoy talking about my birthday (because you can never feel down when you talk about your birthday) and I enjoy watching their reactions. Oh, the dramas are always hilarious!

Me: *singing* The sun will come out tomorrow!
Lysandra: It will rain tomorrow!
Me: *continue singing* Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
Ena: Never dies. *music stops immediately*

The card with 14 colourful signatures :) The one in red took up more than a quarter of the card so the one in blue read, "These ppl so jahat. Only gimme this much space to write!"

Chronologically, thank you, Christine for trying to countdown with me to my cat’s birthday. Even though you fell asleep! Which made me fall asleep! At 20 minutes before midnight. Lol. So smart. I fell asleep the moment she fell asleep and stopped counting down with me. But I woke up 5 minutes after midnight to an sms alert. Kim was the first to wish me at exactly 12 a.m. :)

I turned 17 by pretending to be the Statue of Pizza-ty :)

All the peeps who stayed up to wish me happy birthday at 12 a.m. (Kim, Marilyn, Abigail, Ena, Francoise, Ah Jo and of course, Andrea whose post appeared at exactly 12 a.m.), thank you. :)

And I kinda started my birthday by rushing around at home (all thanks to Elaine Yong!) and then getting annoyed with Elaine in school. Lol. Sorry for that!

But she played her role well because if I hadn’t been annoyed, I would have noticed how abnormal it is to see Marilyn and the others crowding around in the middle of the classroom where junior debaters were supposed to be. (some more they were all there and Music Room wasn’t even opened. Strange right?)

These peeps helped planned a surprise for me :)

And then the circle of friends broke open and a pizza (with a really cute candle on the little tripod) was revealed. I was so surprised, my jaw dropped. :) Thanks, bf(s)fn (Abigail, Amanda, Andrea, Elaine, Emily, Erica, Francoise, Ginny, Joanna, Marilyn, Maryann, Olivia and Kim and Maxine who were MIA-ing) for waking up so early on a Saturday morning. :)

Bffn = Marilyn’s new catchphrase, “best friends for now” because you’ll never know what will happen in the future.

Me: Did you notice that today, the sky is so blue? And the sun is so bright? And the leaves are so green?
Amanda: It’s like that every day!

Their very nice graffiti :)

After pizz-ing, we sat for the bible quiz – Amanda, Ginny, Joanna and I. I studied Genesis two days ago and because of that, I’d forgotten most of the words. So sad! Haha. I had to throw the eraser to decide if God allowed men to live for 100 years or 120 years.

Amanda: How many blanks do you have [for subjective]?
Me: *counts* 17!
Amanda: *counts hers* 21 arr!
Marilyn and I: Oh! Okok! We’re still not so bad!

Marilyn was there to so-called “help” us la. “help”.

Q: … resist all evil and you will have a great ______.

Marilyn: Have a great day ha?

We all totally peng tiau ki,

Last minute studying for bible quiz :P

My godmum appeared in the middle of my quiz. :D she said she came to school just for me. Thank you, Claudia!

After 45 minutes, I left to help the young debaters in the canteen.

Alicia: Happy birthday. I would hug you but I don’t love you that much.

Ah, but that’s ok because fate wanted her to give me a present anyways. She helped me string Clarissa’s guitar. I broke the string and was supposed to fix it for her but I didn’t know how to string an acoustic guitar and it just so happened that Alicia’s learnt how to string one just
the day before, so she stringed lor. See, fate. :)

It's my burpday after all :)

So thank you, Alicia Eng for your kind service. And for saving my fingers from injuries. I always hurt my fingers when I string guitars (and those were nylon strings. This was steel. Adui.) Lol.

And then I went back to band. Band, I love because most of the people who’s made my birthday special, I know through band. :D
so, thank you, band and all its people! :)

Thanks for the cake! For the things on the table next to the conductor’s stand. And for the wishes. And for the really awesome happy birthday singing with Mr. Marvin on the piano (I was so dumbfounded at this one). :)

The band iLove :)

We took the cake outside but they had no lighter so I had to blow out an imaginary lighted candle.

Estella: *holds candle and imitates fire sound* Shii~~
Me: *blows*
Estella: Shiu~

So lame lar! Haha! Break was a bit too short though, so we didn’t get to eat the cake. I only managed to cut one slice and gave it to Mimi Voon as a thank you for her kind sharing of Secret Recipe’s New York Cheese cake the other day. :)

Cake from very thoughtful juniors :)

Kim and Max appeared halfway throughout the day to wish me happy birthday personally. :) When Max appeared, I automatically asked her if she knew what day it was so she also automatically walked away. Hahahaha! It took her like, 10 minutes to come back and wish me Happy Birthday. Lol!

At the end of the day, Kristen came to take us out for lunch at The Tarot. :) We had awesome Nasi Lemak. :D

The Tarot's  fatty rice at Francoise's recommendation :)

Joanna: *when she sees the chicken wings* So big! They look so small in the picture!
Us: =.=” Normally people say the other way around la hor!

Joanna and Kristen

Thank you, Kristen! :D

I watched 3 episodes of 24 in the afternoon, thanks to brother. Then we went out for dinner. And I finished my birthday by counting down to 19 April with Christine, again. Oh she didn’t fall asleep this time. Haha.

Thanks to Claudia, Deb, Andrea, Cassandra and Sharon Liaw who wished me on Facebook. Adeline L. on MSN, Jesslyn on blogger. Kim, Abigail, Marilyn, Erica, Ah Jo, Francoise, Christine, Ena, Janine, Kelvin and Aaron by sms. Esme, by email. Andrea, Abigail and Christine for the blog post. And… a bit too many people face-to-face (my bad for obsessing too much) so… sorry! :)

I hope I didn't miss out anyone.

Thank you for all the wishes, the food, the presents and all your thoughts and presence. :)

My bf(s)fn :D

Now that I am a year older, I shall do things differently.

The juniors thought I’m a bit spoiled. Heh. ;p

365 days to go. :)

16 going on 17

It's now my time of the month.

I have OCD. Plus I'm now suffering from PBS - Pre-birthday Syndrome.

So just for a short 10 minutes today, I will blab about my birthday here.

My friends are probably sick of this.

In fact, I'm quite convinced that they've switched to another page by now.

Oh, the torture they go through with me in the month of April.

I pity them.

Really, I do.

A bit.

=)

What I do to them is:

First I sing. And I'm not a singer. I will admit I'm a little tone deaf though my singing is not atrocious. It's just... a little... off key.

Fine. Birthday wish no. 1: I want to sing in tune. So that... oh I don't know... maybe during my next birthday, I can sing to them.... nicely. :)

This year, I go like this:

I am sixteen going on seventeen

My birthday is coming~~~

I think you should start going shopping

For presents and other things~!

Samantha: What's that song ar? Today I'm 16, tomorrow I'm 17...?

And they go, in the same tune:

No, we cannot get you anything

Because it's now recession~~~

I think you should start counting your blessings

Because we are all broke~!

It's saving sales!

Oh. They're too creative.

So I decided to change my approach.

I shall not sing broadway liaw.

I shall sing David Archuleta! Hah!

Is there a possibility...

Of you getting me something....

Like some food?

Or some books?

Or some... thing~~?

Coffeebean version of what Amy Voon so kindly offered me 2 days ago ;)

And they go:

No, there is no possibility

Of us getting you anything

Because it's recession

And we're broke

With no money~~!!

A toast to me... from me

I... peng. So lame and yet so cool. ;p

But I love birthdays. It's also my imaginary cat's birthday this Saturday. It likes meatball spaghetti and is allergic to cat food so don't get it cat nip. Yah. It likes rubber ducks too.

I told Abigail that tomorrow, I will become Annie and sing "Tomorrow".

Emily: *sings* Tomorrow! *sits down* Oh shit.

Hahahahaha!

We didn't have much classes today because of the choir competition. So some brought their bibles to school to study for the quiz tomorrow.

Me: Hey, bol?

Olivia: *raises her hand* DON'T TALK TO ME!

Me: ???

Olivia: *eyes on bible and continue quoting something Jesus said (the first sentence was "Don't talk to me."*

=.="

We studied a lot today, apparently. Didn't talk so much, surprisingly. We did sejarah and chemistry and bio and english and moral and bible and that's a lot to cover in one morning. =)

In 2 days! :D

Happy Easter 2009

It's Easter! :D

I honestly believe that this is the best Easter holidays I've had. =)

I went earlier to church on Easter Vigil. A little too early though, I think, because I didn't know what time mass starts. But luckily I met with these funny candle peeps. =D

The candle girls ;p

First, I helped to give out candles with Adeline, Marianne and Jaclyn. Didn't have very good "business" though, because we got a spot in the centre and not the sides. Those peeps had to make a "candle song" and still it didn't work. Haha.

It wasn't until the sky was darker that we could change our spot. Erica and Claudia came and then, mass started. :)

My very young godmother ;)

Though they turned off all the lights in the church, it was still super bright in there. So many camera flashes. Hehe. I contributed one flash and turned it off because the picture didn't turn out nice.

This is nice though, I think.

Pretty pretty lights :)

It's the best I've got anyways. Lol.

And the mass went on until the baptism part. Claudia asked us to sit down first (because we were standing before that) so Erica and I sat down. Then we saw that no one else was sitting down so we stood up again. Then the commentator asked us to sit down again. Then Claudia laughed.

Anyway, it was over almost as soon as it began. I barely remember much except that I'd missed a step going down the pool (luckily there was the rail) and I forgot to take off my glasses and Claudia said I disco-ed in there. +_+" Funny. Haha.

When I came out from the changing room, Debbie, Adeline Liaw and Kelvin were there to congratulate us. So nice of them. =)

And I got to light my special candle after that. Hee.

The light I received

Erica and I did the offertory after that. We were both so scared of carrying the wine because we were paranoid that we might fall down. Lol.

Ah wells, once in a lifetime.

Mass was over soon enough. We took some more pictures and then we went home.

Went to mass again on Sunday and there were these cute Easter eggs! I got one at the end of the mass. Wahahahahhaa! Yes, I know I'm not seven but there were extras and we all got one - Kelvin, Erica and I. :D And there was this baby girl in front of us who was so cute, Erica and I kept hi-fiving her. :P

Easter Sunday 2009

See those cute Easter eggs? :P

Anyway, Happy Easter. =)

And finally, to my kawan of nearly a decade:

Have a happy birthday. =)

Archie

David Archuleta is in Malaysia! I'm not a big fan though. I prefer Cook. =) But Nabil's a fan.

There was this time during pre-sale where Nabil was trying to sell some Nestle cookies. And she went around advertising, "Archies! Archies! Who wants to buy Archies?"

Then, she met me. And she took a break from her advertising and posed me a what seemed to be random question.

"Do you like David Archuleta or David Cook?"

"Cook. Why?"

"Oh. Cook-ies! You wanna buy Cook-ies?"

And it dawned upon me that she's advertising the cookies based on the Davids. iPeng. Though David Cook will win because you know, "cookies" is the original word and it's used worldwide. ;p

But the point is, David Archuleta is in Malaysia.

"In Kuching ha?" asked Amanda.

"In KL," I said.

"Cheh. So far."

"It's a few thousand kilometres away!" Maxine remarked.

"Over the South China Sea la. So far you know!" I continued.

"No la! It's only 1 hour 45 minutes away - I sit in PBK 3 hours already can fly Kuching-KL, KL-Kuching!" <-- Abigail so clever.

Anyhoo, there was a career talk today by Segi College. They gave us this interesting personality test. I am apparently a Promoter. And Amanda is a Controller (but she doesn't need to take the test for us to know that =P).

Question: Wild gestures or unemotional?

Me: Wild gestures la. I know, I know.

Erica: Times infinity ar.

Amanda: No! To the power!

Me: But you also use wild gestures what!

Amanda: Mine is times 50. Yours to the power of infinity!

So lame!

Maxine passed Maryann a pendrive this morning and told her that a video in it is in FLV. We stared her blankly before she continued, "... so you know, it won't be very clear because it's low quality."

Abigail: Oh... Say la it's low quality! Don't say FLV la, XYZ la or PQRS la!

Chemical disasters

Today is a day to be remembered, where six chemical accidents just happened in a row.

For the first time in my life, I broke a lab apparatus.

Accident-prone peeps

Well, there was this delivery tube and this rubber tube and then there was me.

Trying to insert the delivery tube into the rubber tube.

Marilyn: =.=" So bo-lak hor.

Me: (glare at Marilyn and try harder)

*crack*

Us: O_O"

Once in a lifetime experience. Who knows delivery tubes can come apart like that.

But that's disaster no. 2. Disaster no. 1 is Marilyn very nearly burning the lab down when she threw the filter paper that caught fire (while collecting non-existent soot from combustion of ethanol) into the sink.

Then when we did Part 2 of our experiment, our apparatus flooded. Water suddenly travelled the other way around so we had to re-do. Teacher said this class comes up with funny problems.

Then Amanda broke another delivery tube. And had to sign Rekod Pecah, like me. :P Oh, but she was trying to pull the rubber stopper out. I think delivery tubes and rubber things don't blend very well.

But before that, Amanda and her group mistaken bromine water as ethanol and wasted one experiment wondering why ethanol is brown. -_-" So genius.

And when Marilyn walked back with a dropper filled with bromine water... well, by the time she got back to our table, the dropper was empty - she emptied it on the way back.... on the floor.

Miss Susie gave us this game to play when she sat in for our class. We had to find words which rhymes with our names. And we made this for Andrea. :)

Her name is Andrea

Which rhymes with Olivia

They both read encyclopaedia

On the way to Bolivia

Then they got diarrhoea

Which they thought was malaria

So they refer to Wikipaedia

... And then we laughed too hard that we couldn't continue anymore. Abigail had a more interesting one but we got too carried away that I can't remember any of it now... except there was something about her in jail and a pail and she got bail and then she fail and she... sails? -.-"

There was this toy gun in class today. Some people thought that it was an air gun. Some thought that there were pellets in it. And I wanted to try fire it.

Adeline J.: Fire it there! *points away*

Maxine: Can you fire it lower?

Me: I very scared la!

Maxine: Lai la! *takes gun*

Me: Wait! Are you going to fire it?

Maxine: Yes.

(Everybody took cover, even those sitting further away... you know, just in case the pellets bounce back)

Maxine: *fires*

So anti-climax ok. Nothing came out in the end.

And just to end this post, I'll tell you about our Whispering Game.

We were busy whispering.

Maxine: (whisper into my ears) Psst psst psst!

Me: (motion to Abigail and whisper into her ears) Psst psst psst!

Maxine: (whisper again) Shhh~

Olivia: Let's tell Emily.

Maxine: Yea! And don't tell Andrea!

Andrea: What!? SAY IT! TELL ME.

Maxine: Don't want la...

Olivia: Cannot.

Andrea: Tell me, woi.

Me: Okok. Come. (whisper) Shhh~

Andrea: *PENG*

The Track

I like Sports' Day. It's so fun. But I haven't got all the pictures so I can't really write anything yet.

I do have one regret though. I realise we didn't take any pictures on the track. Dang! Could have taken some pretty awesome ones, like these:

We had a junior/senior thing. :p

I love the track. So cool.

I wish I can say "I'll take it next year". Sigh.

I realise too, that I only have band to thank for all these junior/senior things that we have. :)

Oh, I love this picture. :D

Sports' Day, iLike.

The Last Sports' Day

Amanda and I both agreed that this year's Sports' Day is our best in 5 years. And it's not often that we come in agreement. =P

There's marching as usual. There's a cheerleading performance which is not so usual. And there were these two dragonflies mating while flying about our heads... which is also not very usual.

But before that,

My masterpiece. She will now always remember me when she uses her gloves.

After marching, I went to offer my services at the ISCF stand. They have funny spatula so I had fun stirring the orange juice - with their funny spatula. =)

And then we went for laksa and ice kacang.

And then we went back to school where we had some photography sessions.

And then we went to McD for lunch where we talked and talked and talked. The RCs held a meeting in McD at the first floor so band also wanted to hold a meeting at the ground floor. So we talked and talked some more.

Until we decided to leave. With our "meeting" suspended in animation.

So we ended up sia-soi-ing ourselves by "meeting" in the middle of nowhere in Parkson. We were literally standing in the middle of nowhere, leaning on things and talking. =.=" Even walked into a stall and caught the employees singing a strange version of I'm Yours.

They made a terrible mistake of going shopping with me two weeks before my birthday. Miss Susie was trying to avoid me.

At 2.30, we walked back to Jubilee Ground where Amanda and I sat and chatted with teacher while waiting for the teachers' events to start. One group was called "Tua-tua keladi". So funny man - old yams.

While waiting, I held this really "cool" kendo fight with Amy. We were really professional. We bowed before we start and we have weapons - Eleena's drumsticks. We even had a prize! (Eleena's 10 cents) And whoever that hit whoever's ass first, wins. We took turns winning so we changed the game after awhile. We had to catch the 10 cents in mid air. (I WON THAT! HAH!)

Mi-Mi can be Do-Do now. =)

So Amy would rather go back to kendo. Lol. And we fought some more. It's like reliving some of my childhood again. :)

Anyway, this post is so cacat because I am so tired and the connection is so slow. Marilyn, Amanda and I were dying in tuition just a moment ago. Had to depend on Nicky's sweets to stay awake. And my legs are sore even though I didn't run this year. Age is catching up with me.

Nevertheless, I 100% support my house (even though I forgot what house I was in this morning and kept concentrating on Leitner subconsciously. the effects of having too many Leitner pals.)

We got fourth, I think. Should have bought more pink umbrellas...
