Lions' Nursing Home Trip

Besides our trip to Sedaya, we also went for a trip to the Lions' Nursing Home. The one and only in Malaysia.

And for the first time in my 15 years of life, I found out where Lions' Nursing Home is.

Happy people in the bus

Lions' Nursing Home is a... I would say, a rather prestigious nursing home lah. About RM 2000 per month... meaning about RM 24 000 a year. O_o!

But then what is so nice right... it's a nursing home after all. Swt.

Greetings from the elderlies

We were greeted by a line of elderlies in wheelchairs when we arrived. We waved at them. And they waved back. So cute~. Some cried because they were too touched. Awww....

After that, we were brought to a room where we were given a brief introduction of the place (how it was built and all) and also some tidbits on the occupants. Apparently, there's one with Alzheimer's who keeps forgetting her late husband is deceased and often insists on calling him. So sad~!

The things we brought for them

After that, we went for a tour about the place. I wanted to snap a picture of the physiotherapy ward with the elderlies working inside but then I don't think they allow. +_+

So this is all I got. This is the male ward.

The male ward

A day before our visit, we were informed by the school that we are supposed to wear uniforms to the place. Sweat lah... This is supposed to be part of our khidmat masyarakat program ok. How to berkhidmat untuk masyarakat in uniforms!?

Finding things that's do-able with uniforms

So what we ended up in doing is... trying our best to entertain the old folks. Which is quite difficult actually especially when we don't know what language they speak. Some speak in perfect English while some just speak in perfect Teo Chew.

=.=

Here are some of us peeling some oranges for the old folks.

Fulfilling our khidmat masyarakat by peeling oranges

What we did is that we basically just roam around, searching for our own elderly. Serve them some oranges if they wish. Talk to them (if we know how). And that's it. Haha~.

And if we're lucky we'd serve some good ones. If we're not, well... kenak maki lah tu. Some of my friends actually got scolded. One got scolded "stupid" by one elderly.

O_o

Ganas.

Elaine, Maryann and me with John Aw

The elderly in the picture above is John Aw. He speaks English. ^^ And he's cool. Haha. He has 6 children I think and a lot of granchildren.

Anyways, there is also an ang moh in the nursing home. And we went to see him as if we never see an ang moh in our life. He's from London and he has a nice English accent. He's probably the friendliest among all the occupants there. Entertained us a lot.

And when I asked if I could take a picture with him, he said "Come here!" and hugged me.

O_O''

I got hugged by an ang moh

The teachers laughed when I told them. And when I told me parents.... they said "How can?!".

My mom: Didn't ask my permission ho!!

Alamak... haha!

And that was basically what we did that whole morning lah. We left at about 11.00 a.m. We had spent about 3 hours there. I'm sure we did some joy over there. ^^

Andrea saying bye bye with a peace sign

The trip was really great lah. First time I actually interacted with so many elderlies. Not bad liaw lor. I even managed to learn how to carry an elderly up to the bed properly, thanks to a friendly nurse.

But really, some of them are really very cute. Friendly and funny as well.

And here's a group picture we took before we left.

Kehappiness

We'll come back one faraway day (hopefully not to stay over though).

All the pictures above are clean. I malas wanna photoshop my url in them. So yah... can steal clean pictures this time.

I can maple now!

I can maple now!! Yippee!

Actually I gave up on Maple months ago after a failed download attempt. The file disappeared.

=.=''

But it doesn't matter anymore after Kelvin passed me his pendrive. The files in the pendrive was all clustered and left me in an agonising period figuring out which is needed and which is not.

It was all so confusing that Maxine even told me that I can just go kill him then. Haha.

I ended up copying the whole 956 megabytes worth of Maple stuff into my computer. Swt.

From left to right: Kelvin, me, Erica and Adel

Here's proof of my maple playing.

And I can proudly say: My character is super messed up!!

BAKA in Maple.

*hides in corner*

No one taught me anything until Aaron came when it was too late. Aahhh~

Sedaya Field Trip

For the first time in my 15 years of life, I found out where Sedaya College is in Kuching.

Sedaya International College, Sarawak Branch

My class went on a field trip to Sedaya last Wednesday. Together with 3A2s.

Excited (but disappointed) people making their way to the lousy bus

It was actually supposed to be to Swinburne lah. But because the Swinburne people were having their exams (and thought perhaps about 80 sakai female students trampling down their hall would make them fail), we went to Sedaya instead. (Boo~)

Suasana dalam bas

I was initially very disappointed. For one, I didn't like Sedaya at all. Why? Because they had upset me during one road show once upon a time ago (road show again +.+). They just gave me the impression that they are very bermata duitan.

Settling down in the bus

Anyways, we got on a bas sekolah. While some other class managed to get their hands on a bas persiaran. That's complete with air-con.

=.=

How can!

The purple-d school from inside the bus

Maybe they think since Sedaya is so near, no need air-con bus. Swt.

What we went through to get to Sedaya

Anyways, I brought my camera to the trip. And managed to snap many sakai photos. I was very sakai even though we had already been warned not to be sakai. But wah tu du... borned sakai d.

Irene posing for the camera ^^

So just bear with my many sakai pics yah?

Here's one of me and Eli shifting into our zen mode.

Zen mode

Actually we took a lot of pictures lah. Funny and embarassing ones. I think if I really put them here, Eli will skin me alive... *gulp*

Buddha hands

After about 15 minutes (or less) on the bus, we finally reached Sedaya. Joy~!

Me and Amanda sakai-ing

We were warmly welcomed by a Mr Johan, one of the lecturer in Sedaya. I think he lectures Biotechnology. ^^

Our welcome sign

We were then led to one of their lecture rooms. Which involves climbing a loooong flight of stairs. Really bakar minyak, man. Wanna find a job that helps to lose weight? Work here.

Tired after climbing long flight of stairs

Their lecture room can actually accommodate all of us (almost 100 people including teachers and their Sedaya people). Not bad eh? It stretches really long to the back.

The many heads in the lecture room

I suppose that there was suppose to be some welcoming speech for us in that room. Welcoming speech and promotion speech to mengagung-agungkan Sedaya. Luckily, we were all spared the agony of having to listen to those thanks to the constant blackout. ^^

In there, we were divided into two groups - Pinky and Cheesy. I was in Cheesy. Haha. (I just have to say this) Pinky was named after Mr Johan called Fiona ''Pinky" because of her pink ribbon. =D

Anyways, Cheesy was led to their Computer Room first while Pinky went elsewhere.

The computer room

In our so called computer class, we were thought how to morph pictures.

These are the work of Amanda, Ashton, Adeline T. and me. Ngaiti... all A's. I sesated ady. =(

Mr Bean!

Baby morphing into....

A frog +.+''

We were also thought how to animate pictures using flash. But we couldn't catch any balls so many of us just resorted to playing Spider Solitaire, Minesweeper, etc etc (as you can see in the first picture of the computer lab).

The class was ok lah. Quite boring but still ok lah. Lol. We did learn something (I forgot everything d).

That's not all to our program though. After our computer class, we went to the.....

Vianney is happy in the biotech lab...

The lab is so white!! Blinding, man! Study here sure semangat. Unlike the school's one.... so dull... so hot... =.=''

Suasana in the lab

We had to split into groups of five.

This is my group: Amanda, Andrea, Erica, Marilyn and me. (Erica was taking the picture)

We occupied the first table ^^

Our task in the Biotechnology lab: Build a human DNA Helix Model.

I think my group was to build the human's skin DNA or something. I lupa dah what it is.

Andrea and Marilyn cutting out the cells

We were given four colour papers. Each colour represents a cell. Thymine, cytosine... things like that. We were suppose to gabung them together.

The new set of piano keys in the future

We were all given one hour to complete our model. My group finished 20 minutes earlier. ^^

Great brains working together. Haha! *peng*

Proses mengglu the cells onto the helix's backbone

We finished so fast, Mr Johan came in and asked "You sure this is yours ah? Not the leftovers from the previous group?". Lol~!

But then the lecturer came and commented that our helix model isn't twisted as nicely as it's supposed to.

Our helix model at first try

So we had to make some adjustments. Cutting here and there. Pasting here and there. Sellotaping here and there.....

Fixing our pride

And tada!

Here's our end result.

Our Menara DNA Helix standing proudly

Since there was still time to wait for others to finish, I took a picture of this.

The scenery outside the lab from the lab's window.

View from the biotech lab... so ugly...

Not very beautiful I know. Haha. You can still see a mosque though. If that is pretty in your eyes. =)

After the given one hour, they held a competition to see whose helix model is the nicest. Ours got nominated! Joy!

In the end, it was between our group and another group. The results was a cast lot among the rest who were not chosen.

And guess what?

Winners!!

We won!!

Double joy!!

And that apparently was all to our program that morning. As we left, I tried to take a picture of us in the mirror ceiling.

Distorted mirror picture

I failed miserably lah of course. Haha. Mr Johan said we were very creative. ^^

To end our Sedaya field trip, we took a group photo. And that was it.

Group picture promoting Sedaya

Overall, Sedaya is an alright college albeit a bit small. The bright side would be that you can never get lost there. The dull side is if you are an adventurous person (like me), it probably isn't a nice place for you. You might feel like a fish trapped in a fish bowl and suffocate.

But academically wise, I don't know anything lah. It could be a nice place. Entahlah. I still don't really like it. Its people upset me too much.

ABC Education Roadshow

Last week, I attended the ABC Education Fair at Crowne Plaza. I was there only because it was written on the banner "Free Door Gift". So yah, I went there, signed up my name and receive a goodie bag.

Study in Australia

I met Getrude there and went walking around with her, telling her the story of how Sunway had upset me during one of their road shows because the guy simply wouldn't give me a pen. Their A Levels cost about RM 5000 per semester. What went through my head was that, if I were to study in your university, I would be paying you RM 5000 per semester and you couldn't give me a cheapskate pen? Since that moment onwards, I have decided that no matter where I further my studies next time, I won't go to Sunway.

Amazing, ain't it?

This is how benua Australia looks like

Anyways, since I was there only for the door gift, there was nothing I could do inside. Until a lady suddenly came and urged us to a booth about hotel management, where I tarik-ed Lilian (whom I also met on spot) to go with us because I am not interested in pretending to be interested in hotel management.

To be fair, that was a very impressive university though. They have campus complete with computers and broadband service.

I was thinking "Paradise~".

Until they told me all Aussie Unis are like that. *imagines Deborah beaming*

=.=''

What I went home with...

After the hotel management talk, I looked about and saw people walking away with goodie bags from USC. So I tamak, go there also lah.

So I went there and joined Tasha and Jervynna, who were already there.

Since I was only there for the goodie bag (again), I just gago over them lor. Apparently USC is just a high school where we go there to study for Year 12. Then go Uni terus.

Anyways, after gago-ing for about 15 minutes or so, I finally got my goodie bag!

Joy!

The goodies in the USC goodie bag

And since my father also signed up, my mother also signed up, we ended up bringing four koala bears home.

^_^

The bears from the road show + one sesated one from home

I wanted to explore more and see if there were more goodie bags to be grabbed but my brother got bored already. =.=''

Anyways, I bought myself a new guitar pick after my old one got stolen by a thief who broke into my room while I was sleeping and stole my wallet which contained only RM 2.30 and my guitar pick.

My new pick

My old one has the picture of a lizard. My new one has the picture of a turtle.

I like animals picks I guess. I also sengaja buy a green one to remember my old green pick.

Are you going to school tomorrow?

The most asked question in Form 3 after PMR. We asked it every day without fail to the people around us.

Anyways, I don't know why I even went to school today. The programs obviously sucked. But I guess I went because I hoped that somehow it would be fun. But then, it wasn't.

=.=''

I sat in the hall through all the talks today. Didn't even escape one. I hardly talked to anyone also.

I nearly died. Suffocated from boredom. I got so restless and I had this urge to scream and bang the wall or something.

I sat there and I went through torture. You might as well just take a knife and stab me in my heart. As many times as you wish. As hard as you want.

Do whatever it is you want. Just stop doing what you are doing now.

Memonteng (with pass)

I didn't like my first post. Here's an updated one with more storyline and pictures. ^_^

Last Friday had been fun. I thought it was going to be boring because last Friday's program was really boring and more than 3/4 of the class was absent.

I thought it was going to be so boring that I'd much rather clean the school's shit haunted toilet than going up the hall to endure the poco-poco dancing and the ceramah motivasi.

This is what will happen if you don't study properly...

But it didn't turn out to be too bad. I started my day by disrupting the Form 4's exams by shouting to Andrea (who shouted to me from the Koperasi) asking why she came even though she said she wouldn't go no matter what. The 4 Science 1 students all came to tackle me after that. Oops?

Happy day: I believe I can fly....!

Our principal apparently loves the poco-poco dance. Just this year, I think there have been 3 poco-poco dancing sessions already. =.=''

Amanda and I couldn't stand it long so we went to the Koperasi to do some work after fooling about for about 1 hour.

Proof of working in Koperasi ^_^

Then, Andrea and Marilyn came during break to take retarded looking pictures. =P

Retardedness... lol~

We didn't stay in the Koperasi very long because we making too much noise and Amy had to study so we took off the the library....

Where Marilyn finally succumbed into her boredom and died.

Don't worry. I managed to revive her. =D

She's very much alive.

She's alive! Peace to the world!

But maybe her brain was affected....

Marilyn: I want a picture of me hugging the shoe case...!

She called the book shelf ''shoe case''. Wahahahaha~!

How will YOU solve your next problem?

We were so bored we literally went hunting around for things to take pictures with.

With the YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE book!

We even went to the extreme....

Presenting to you......

Kuching's Next Top Model!

Wahahahaha~! I was trying to suppress my laughter ok! That explains the constipated look. I burst out laughing after that. But Marilyn, on the second hand, looks really like a mean looking model. O.o!

After we got bored of the library, we escaped to St Jude to buy food.

And Marilyn still hadn't gained her sanity yet.

Pole dancing in St Jude alley... O.o

She did a stripper pole dance! Andrea had a video of that. Wakaka~! But it wasn't posted up. Too bad. =P

And then there was a ceramah motivasi after that. We escaped again after we found out there are people who escaped into the KH room to help teacher do stuff.

CEO and staff of the Garbage Mei Nu Sdn. Bhd.

That's us doing stuff. =P

And that's Marilyn teaching us her secret to success - meditating on a daily basis.

Ooommmm......

Her brain is clearly compromised by boredom.... seriously.

While others were working hard....

Employees of Garbage Mei Nu Sdn. Bhd. working hard

She was doing this....

Winner of Kuching's Next Top Model... MARILYN!

The things boredom can make you do...

=.=!

Boredom can cause brain damage. Therefore, stay away from it.

After all those fooling around, I felt bad also lah. So I decided to help out too.

Working with the uber cool polystyrene melting machine

We had to help cut some polystyrene thingy for the school's Majlis Kecemerlangan back board. They have a super cool machine for cutting that! =D Amanda and I can make an "excellent" team.

Amanda: *half way moving* LIP YI ah!!
Me: *half way moving also* AMANDA ahh!!
Amanda: *sees got kecacatan* Know who's fault is that?
Me: *see not straight* Know who's fault is that!?

Really, we can make a great team.

And when all was done, we were so overjoyed~. We decided to take funny looking pictures again.

Retarded monkeys

We also made a hilarious Buddha video. And another YMCA dance video. Those are hilarious. It's been a long time since I last laughed until me tummy ached!

Ah Lian monkeys

And if you can't make out what we were posing about...

L.. is for the way you LOOK at me...

And here's a big one to you.

We LOVE

Friday was a boring day turned fun. All these escaping are really very exhilarating! I think we should do it more often. We'll never have another chance after this year. =D

Therefore, don't skip so many days of the program. Hahaha!
