Lots of changes going on in his life, and he's handling them all so well. So well that I keep questioning whether it's real or not. His second birthday is approaching fast--April 29 will be here before we know it! And we're celebrating his 2nd and Kara's 4th birthdays at Disney World!
We've been planning this trip for a long time--since their last birthdays actually. I promised Kara that she wouldn't have a birthday party this year, but instead, we would take her to meet the princesses and to visit Cinderella's castle. She hasn't forgotten and has almost talked about it every.single.day. You think she's excited?
I was hoping Lane would be interested in using the potty before his 2nd birthday, and before the big trip. The e-book, 3 Day Potty Training, we used when Kara was learning to use the potty recommended training them at 22 months.
So Lane reached 22 months the end of February. He was telling us sometimes when he would mess up his diapers. But what did it for me was the fact alone that he communicated well to us. He's so eager to learn new things, so why not teach him all about pottying.
This whole potty training experience was entirely different from our experience with Kara. I'm still blown away at how smooth the training went.
We put Lane through "potty boot camp" last Saturday and by Monday, it had clicked! Amazing. We started out not using Pull-Ups. I would wake him up before I went to bed to let him potty and by morning, he was still dry. He's such a good sleeper, so we decided to stop interrupting his sleep and just let him sleep in a Pull-Up. Didn't phase him!
Pooping (yes, I'm saying that word in this blog!) took a few extra days to master in the potty. But since this past Saturday, he's got that down, too. All it took was M&Ms and a $1 Elmo stamper that I found at Target the week before. It's so nice to be diaper-free around here again!
Another part of turning big boy--a new bed! Well, it's new to Lane. We had converted his crib into a bed a few months back, and again, he did amazingly well with that transition.
Justin sanded and painted some of his father's furniture that he had used as a child. He did a great job! He has way more patience than me to paint all that furniture. I only managed to paint Lane's room, well, paint three of the four walls at least. Whew--that was not fun.
Here is the before shot. Now keep in mind this was taken when we first bought our house...pre-children. Lane's room was actually a pale green with baby furniture. But at least you can see the stain of the furniture pre-Justin's hard work!
Now check out Lane's room...
Such a difference a little paint makes! I love it. And if you can't tell, Lane loooves it, too. We could hardly get the mattresses set up and sheets on. He kept throwing on the pillows, his nite-nites and climbing on. Over and over.
It was naptime, and he was putting on a little Chapstick.
So, of course, Kara had to get some, too. We've been busy around here! But I'm very happy with how Lane's room turned out. The walls are bare, but I'm working on that! He had a UGA football poster up for a while, but eventually it fell. Maybe I'll try it again. Ideas are welcome!
I'm very proud of my big boy...and his big sister!
Hope you all are having a great week. Aren't you impressed that I've managed to blog three times so far in March! Ha! Just had to mention it!
