More of 1 Million Of Visitors... We done it again with our Radio Blog!

More of 1 Million Of Visitors...
We done it again with our Radio Blog!

When the 'old' MFS blog was open in a 'free' form, in 4 years counted a quote near 3 million of visitors....then, due copyright problems, the blog needed a change and gone private.
When we started here at this address as MFS2 we posted only 12'' singles, 7'' singles, Compilations and Radio Programs.
Here we had too some problems and the blog changed as only 'Radio Edition'.
But here are the numbers from the Sitemeter site.
The 24 LOG counter sinalize a quote of more of 1 million too.
We want tho say thanks to all the visitors of all 'our times', for the love & affection demonstrated.
The MFS Equipe.

The Capitol Mosaic has long been out of print but I think the real important stuff was the 2nd and 3rd Herds/I think that this was released a long time ago as an LP set (must have been 3 discs) and had 11 more cuts but this has alternate takes so my guess is it covers the 45-47 period as completely as it needed.Killer band.

Clark Terry and Paul Gonsalves.I have the Terry LP but never could come up with the $300+ for the Gonzsalvez. Both were done together in two sessions with a Chicago Radio DJ as producer in 1957.The personnel I think is same and this is between bebop and hardbop. The Gonsalvez session was a bit better as he got the head arrangements and more solos but just the Terry would be a great LP (as were all his 50's efforts).Long out of print it has come out first here on this GRP session under Terry's name and latter by Fresh Sounds under Gonsalves. Both are incredible.Enjoy.

Note:
The recordings of “Memphis Black” are soulful and pure. They show off the pulsating Hammond Sounds of Ingfried Hoffmann, that have made him the most exciting German organist of the 60’s and 70’s. This rare album “Soul Club” contains Hoffmann’s Hammond originals and tunes that famous American artists released before, all in a warm soul style that pervades every tune on this classic recording session spotlighting the exciting but short-lived German studio project “Memphis Black”. The menu is strictly soul food: blues, gospel, soul and all the musical connotations that magnify the musical ability of black artist are apparent in a twelve-course meal, turning the listeners “on” with unique renditions of classic tunes and adding own compositions to total colour of the instrumental album. “Why Don’t You Play The Organ, Man” and “Hang ‘Em high” were immediately pulled off the original Lp for DJs and consequently released on 7inches in the UK, having a great impact in the Northern Soul scene until today. Later on, Infgried Hoffmann resigned from the organ scene in purpose of composing and arranging for the mass media, expressing his ability for the merging of different musical worlds within countless soundtrack productions, still working very successfully in Cologne until today
The Stax label, Carla Thomas or Booker T. & and M.G.’s, all out of Memphis, were personally dedicated to making soul music the popular music of the US and Europe. They established their musical style on an international scale and paved the way for the sons of Arthur Conley, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding or Aretha Franklin, that dominated the popular soul scene of the 60s. Then famous German producer Siegfried E. Loch came up with the idea to record a true Hammond soul album with a studio group in Germany, presenting authentic “Black” music from “Memphis”.
Composer and arranger Ingfried Hoffmann is a true creative genius and musical talent, always learning and growing in order to reamin relevant to the complex and rapidly changing musical scene. Born in Slettin in 1935 and first of all playing piano, he was already performing to audiences at the age of ten. Infried soon interrupted his studies of classical misc and philosophy for playing jazz in various formations. After recording his first Hammond jazz Lp with René Thomas, Helmut Kandlberger and Klaus Weiss in 1963, he soon became the organist of the internationally famous Klaus Doldinger Quartet and worked with jazz stars like Attila Zoller or Lucy Thompson on numerous outstanding productions. The man was also chosen for “best jazz pianist and organ player” in Germany and even toured with his own band “steel organ”, a name that he often used for his beloved Hammond B3.
Is there an explanation for the musical versatility of Infgried Hoffmann? “it’s the curiosity for experiencing the world and myself, staying interested in new tasks and realizing the necessity to leave secure paths in order to grow and search for the musical unusualness.” This man’s really got soul…

Note:
Ingfried Hoffmann, born 1935, may be best known in his home country of Germany for his successful film and TV music. But his roots are in jazz. In the 1960s, he had the reputation of being Europe’s best Hammond B-3 organist, a talent that has occasionally overshadowed his equal skill as a pianist, arranger and composer. As a member of Klaus Doldinger’s famed quartet, Hoffmann won several polls as German’s best jazz organist and pianist. He also recorded solo albums under his own name and a highly collectable soul album under the alias of Memphis Black. When, in the mid-1960s, Hoffmann and his producer Siegfried E. Lock decided to record ‘From Twen With Love’, and album suggested by the James Bond films, the Bond craze was at its height, following the worldwide success of ‘Thunderball’. Inspired by the first four Bond films, and the novels of Ian Fleming, Hoffmann not only laid down fantastic interpretations of Bond themes, but also shone with compositions of his own dedicated to the famous super spy. The album now receives its first reissue here. With four related bonus tracks from other Ingfried Hoffmann sessions.

Joe Andersen ”Blind Wolf Blues Band”

Joe Andersen

”Blind Wolf Blues Band”

On 29th july 09 Cadillac Joe Andersen passed away.
(more info here on Madison Jazz)
In respect of this event I send you a link of one of his 1st record.

Here is a text I got from a a guy in the USA:
American jazz organist Cadillac Joe Andersen died July 29,2009.
Here is his obituary from a Madison, WI/USA newspaper: Joseph F. ‘Joe’
Andersen, age 57, passed away at UW Hospital in Madison, WI on Wednesday,
July 29, 2009. He was born in Madison, WI on Aug. 9, 1951, a son of
William and Catherine (Adler) Andersen. On July 16, 1973, he was united in
marriage to Luz Valdez in Taos, N.M. They recently celebrated their 36th
wedding anniversary. Known as ‘Cadillac Joe,’ he was a well respected jazz
and blues organist in the Madison area. Joe loved his wife and family,
enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, and playing with everyone in the
pool.

Lupo
——————————————————————————————
From the IAJO site:
Joe tells his story
How he came to the organ:
In the mid 60’s I bought a Farfisa organ and taught myself to play best I could by listening and playing along with records. I learned songs like 96 Tears, House of the Rising Sun and other “garage band tunes” of the day. I bought every record I could that had some organ on it. One of those records was a Spencer Davis Group album …
There was a tune called “Blues In F” on this album that totally knocked me out. In fact I can listen to that cut today and still be amazed by the incredible Hammond/Leslie sound on that cut. At the time I had no idea who the organist was or how he got that sound, but I literally wore out that track listening to it. It didn’t take long however to figure out that I couldn’t make my Farfisa sound like that. A trip to the local “hippie” music store revealed the truth to me. In a separate little room was what I thought was a church organ. Of course it was a B3. I was not initially impressed. At the time it looked like something that should be in my grandma’s parlor. They assured me this was the best, so they started it for me and I sat down to play a little. I don’t know how to really describe what happened next but when the store closed, they politely asked me to leave. Frankly I was still a kid and not much of a player yet, but this instrument brought out things in me I didn’t know existed. I think that may be the true beauty of the Hammond organ, if you have anything at all inside you, it will coax it out of you if you let it. That was 1969 and I’m of course still playing the Hammond. I’ve also played pianos and synthesizers over the years but have never gone with out a Hammond. I think most Hammond players probably feel the same, but when I sit down in front of the instrument, it’s like I’m home, everything is right and day to day hassles are gone, at least for the time I get to play. Gigs are great, some amount of notoriety is nice, but simply playing the instrument is my greatest musical pleasure.

Here is a mini review of the organ aspects of this record:
Cadillac Joe Andersen plays very pentatonic-based blues organ and he also plays in the pocket at all time, and with a very clear sound. This means he is suitable to study when learning the right hand organ blues style.
Regarding the left hand walking bass/foot pedal board, he has choosen, at least on this record to let a bass player handle all bass lines.
