Baby shower fun!

Hello friends! I have been busy since I am back to my normal routine. So busy that I have almost forgotten about posting all my latest and greatest crafty items! For the past 2 weeks I have been working on a friends baby shower decor. I am so excited that my friend Julia and Matt are adopting a baby from china. I wanted to make sure and give her a shower she will never forget. Below is 2 collages of some of the items I have been working on for the shower. I really hope she likes it as much as I have liked creating all the fun items!

I will be back later this week to show you all the fun items I have been creating for my son's birthday party! It is Harry Potter themed! I have never really gotten into that crazy movie or books so now is the time to learn everything I can!!! I only have a couple of days to finish all the million candles I have to make to hang from the ceiling, yikes!

Better late than never

Here are a few more Valentine cards that I made 2 weeks ago. I really enjoyed making the different cards and sending them to friends, it is something that I always want to do but never have the time. Guess there was a little bonus to being sick and in bed! I got some crafty things done! I took inspiration for these cards from an old issue of Scrapbook ETC. It was the February 2008 issue. I didn't exactly duplicate the cards but used the same color scheme and a few elements are the same. I just love how the turquoise and pink work so well together.

I am slowly getting back to my normal routine. Thank goodness, I have had some days of crafting and getting out. I even did some laundry! I have not ventured to clean the house or cook dinner, I guess that will come this week! I am hoping that I will go back to work by Wednesday and as long as the next 2 days goes well then that is the plan!!! It is time though, I never thought I would say this but I am getting bored staying at home!

Blog Hiatus

I have been on a blog hiatus the past month. Just too much going on in my life and honestly didn't feel like blogging about it. Mostly because I just didn't feel like sharing, but now I am ready to share with everyone that I have been trying to pass a kidney stone for the past couple of weeks. I have had days of extreme pain, I have had days of all day sleep, days of dr appt, days at the hospital. You name it I have done it. What I can say is it is getting old and exhausting. I have had about all I can stand of it and I am ready to put this behind me...only 1 small problem, the darn stone has not passed yet!!! I am waiting as I type this from a call back from my dr. to decide the next step. He has already told me that I cannot do the lithotripsy so it will be a full blown surgery, who knows what that entails.
I have not really been in a crafty kind of mood, but did manage one day this week to make some cards. I thought maybe it would take my mind off the pain for a while. It worked, sort of...I made the cards, not my best work but they are done and I enjoyed the crafty time! So that is a success in my book!
Yes it is a Valentines card. Usually I don't send them, but this year I decided it would a nice little treat for some of my friends and family to get a card from me for Valentines Day. Just to let them know I am thinking of them! I duplicated this card 8 times and had a little help from my friend Julia(craftyjulia.blogspot.com) finishing them. I tried a technique where you spray your embossing folder with glimmer mist, put your cardstock in the folder and run it through the embossing machine. Can't remember where I saw this idea, think it was from a magazine. Since I have been in the bed a lot lately I have been looking through lots of idea books. I also stamped the heart and then hand painted the image with glimmer mist. You can't tell from the photo but the heart and background paper are very glimmery irl. Simple and quick card, took me only a few hours to put together all of them! My kind of project for the mood I am in right now!

Hopefully I will be back soon with some good news about this kidney stone!

Happy New Years!

Hoping good things happen in 2011! I have been MIA as usual. Once I got over my illness, my daughter had surgery and I got busy taking care of her. Then wouldn't you know it I got sick again! Been battling an upper respiratory infection this week. Spent all day new year's eve in bed. Today I am feeling much better and plan on cleaning out my scrap closet. I still have bags packed from my November scrap weekend. Just got so busy that I never unpacked everything and now is the time. I might even part with a few unwanted items. We'll see if I go that far with my cleaning, it might just be an organizing kind of day! It is so hard to let go of scrappy stuff that you think you might use one day!
No pictures to share today...sorry!

Been sick again!

So I thought I was doing well and was going to end the year not getting sick...but to my surprise I was woken in the middle of the night last Friday feeling really bad and ended up going to the hospital to find out I was passing a kidney stone. That is a terrible pain that I do not wish on anyone. Spent several days in the bed and now am trying to get caught up!
If I didn't wait till the last minute to do my shopping or my decorating, my cooking, my crafting, my anything...I wouldn't need to catch up! Unfortunately I do not think ahead really well so I am always scrambling at the end. Of course I did not expect to get sick so now I am really scrambling!
To top it off Miranda will be having surgery tomorrow so I have been running around today getting everything ready...well as ready as I can. Went to the grocery store and stocked up on soups and Popsicles. She is having her tonsils removed, not a bad surgery but recovery is not fun. It will be a long 2 weeks here!
I have been able to keep up with my little etsy business and that has been a good distraction...I wish I had more time for scrapbooking, but right now it is just not in the cards. Maybe in a few weeks when things settle down I can get back to that!
I have managed to make a few of my gifts this year...here
are photos of a few.
This is a felt magnet set that I have made for years. I think I can remember making these as a teenager and giving them to my friends back than...if not then it was the early years of being married. They are super easy to make and really inexpensive and just such a cute addition to any fridge or metal door.
The countdown to Christmas is a gift for a very good scrapbook friend. I know she will love it. I scored this magnet board on clearance a few months ago and had no idea what I was going to do with it, then while searching online I saw several different ideas for a countdown and knew this board would be perfect. I embellished it with a few holiday papers, cut the tags from my cricut along with the letters, stamped the numbers on, flocked and glittered the letters, added some jingle bells and a bow. TA DA! Hope she likes it as much as I do...glad that I bought another board so that I can make one for me too!!!

Keeping Busy

I have been keeping myself very busy for the last several days, or maybe even weeks. First and foremost I have been working on all my items for my etsy shop. I am thrilled that I have been getting several orders. Now though I am switching gears and trying to get some Christmas gifts made. I have several groups that I am involved with and need to make or buy a gift for our exchange. This is just one of the many items that I have made.
Here is a close up of the flowers. I took the concept from the felt flowers that I make as brooches or hair clips. Instead of putting a clip and pin back on them I just glued them to the wreath.
I cut out some green holly leaves and added them to the wreath as well as jingle bells and fabric strips. I think this wreath will make a great addition to anyone's home for the holidays! Don't worry I have more...will be back in a day or so to show you more!
