Swamped

By work and the impending finals. Everyone here is looking forward to going home (and so am I) but the thought of all the stuff that i have to get done before then is rather daunting.

the list:

1. Econs problem set on tuesday
2. Music final on tuesday
3. Math final next tuesday
4. Mind paper next tuesday on uh, disfluencies (just minor editting left i hope)
5. Econs final next thursday
6. Music paper next friday on liszt (5-7 5.5 1 pages left) (thanks jeremy)
7. Register car and do all the assorted admin
8. Get parking
8b. Get parking for the other car too.
9. Secure legal housing for the beginning of next quarter (thanks wanyun)
10. PACK!!!
11. Finish up RA job (thanks jessica)
12. Return all my library books
13. Find aforementioned library books
14. Pick up and settle material for school talks in Singapore and incoming freshies

But of course there's always time to drive friends to hospital: did that a few days ago one night when we scrambled to the car to get her there. I felt like how my dad probably felt when he drove me to the hospital when I was in dire need of help... panicky beneath a controlled logical calm. The knowing you should rush but at the same time control your adrenaline and not be rash and beat the red lights. Growing up really fast, even if it was just for a night.

??

So i've just gone to try and wash my hands of the loving smell of "Garlic herbs" which ironically about 12 hours ago i said smelt really good, and i discover that my hand towel has gone missing.

Which is majorly really irritating.

I mean, WHAT? It's quite irritating enough to find toothpaste stains on my handtowel, but take it away you shall not.

Bleh. Looking forward to moving out with nice roommates i am.

K'ok, ok!

So, in classic style and in accordance to Patch's rules of life's tragic ironies, i'm up at 9am on a saturday morning, after trying unsuccessfully to fall asleep for the last 30 minutes. Which is kinda irritating, coz I fell asleep at around 5am last night after coming home from singing karaoke for 4 hours.

"eh, but your timestamp is like 10am leh."
Yes, that's because in accordance to Patch's rules of life's tragic ironies, while i was very careful not to press the wrong button and wipe out my post, i just pressed the wrong button and closed the tab i was typing in.

"er, ok, so anyway... YOU?!! KARAOKE?! What did you sing?"
Chinese songs lor.

"Dun bluff!!"
Well ok, some Chinese and some English. But the Chinese songs really have a lot better MTVs la. I mean, i sang "we didn't start the fire" with another old fogey who is really old at 26 years old, and there wasn't even a semblance of a shadow of an attempt at cheesy video clips of babes walking along beaches. There were just words on a green background. So chinese songs better la.

"Don't bluff, Chicago can't have made you MORE Chinese. You where got know Chinese songs?"
Just read the lyrics lor, i mean, it's surprising how many songs you recall once you get down to it. Fan ti only, so easy.

"You, fan ti? HAHA now i know you're bluffing. C'mon, come clean, what WERE you doing up so late at night anyway?"
No, really! Singing! Don't mock my Chinese abilities ok. Or my murmuring ones.

"Well, ok, then answer this: What were you doing going to Chinatown at 12am anyway? Why didn't you just go earlier so you could sleep earlier?"
Well, that's because i was massaging cold chunks of flesh, and rubbing them down with oil and things. My hands still smell. ugh.

"Too much info!!!"
No la, i was marinating chicken wings and stuff, and dislocating bones. Quite fun, really, if a bit disgusting after you do like 100 of them, and then you realise you have more to go.

"OMGWTFBBQ?"
You got it. Spent most of yesterday afternoon preparing for it, and i did the most amazing shopping ever: US$133 on groceries and various items, check out the receipt:

"WAH, you still have Chinese New Year goodies!!"
Yea, love from home, but check out the receipt!

"And is that a purple RI file???? WHY?"
Math notes. The receipt!

"And what's that little dog doing over there?"
Jean gave it to me. But isn't the receipt really cool? It was almost the length of my windscreen.

"And is that fil's darth tater on the shelf?"
Yes! Which reminds me, I watched ep 3 a few days ago, and it was really pretty good! Even if nobody seems to think so. I mean, the leitmotivs in the soundtrack were damn exciting and cunning la. And the fight scenes were pretty cool too, even if some of them don't make logical sense in the "HA, i've been fighting for really long but all i really wanna do is aim at your lightsaber instead of attacking you where there're openings in your guard" way, and also i've realised that while previously i could never look at the CGI graphics of a movie normally, now, thanks to music class, I can't listen to the music normally either, and i'll probably never watch a movie in the same way again. But that's kinda good in a way, more utility, coz the parking came up to US$26! Luckily there were people to split it, but really the whole movie was pretty awesome la. And thanks to Amanda the mad Star Wars fan who got the tickets and went to line up for 3 hours to get good seats, about 12 hours after she finished watching the movie for the first time. Yea.

"You're weird."

"hullo?"

"uh."

sheer unadulterated joy

Today is the happiest day in my life for quite a while.

So here i am, blogging whilst slightly tipsy, before i go ahead and write a response paper to wagner and verdi's operas in the romantic period, and i've just BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!! well ok not really, but we've finally decided to go ahead and take this house and sign the lease for it tomorrow. The landlords are Vietnamese, they are very nice, and all is cheery and beautiful, and we're going to have a really happy household. =)

SO of course to celebrate, we went out and got a bottle of really good ice wine (well ok close enough) called Elysium (which is a really cheesy name for a wine, but what the hell) which is a 2003 Californian black muscat. If that means anything to you, good for you. It is good stuff. So my beloved housemates and I brought this wine to the point, and proceeded to toast many and varied good things in life, while facing the wonderful lake michigan at night. Exuberance. Bliss. Harmony. SHEER COLD.

I am happy today. Happy.

Scav Hunt

So concludes scav hunt, but not before witnessing various amazing things, and also not before taking photos of many random people and making a photomosaic of my library. So because i'm drop dead bored, and of course have much work due tomorrow (see cosmic's 1st law of blogging), here're some photos:

An apple pi.

Liquid nitrogen in a coke cup.

And lots more wacky things to which photos don't do justice, and since my bandwidth isn't that funky, am unable to post in video form. At any rate, people got circumcised, others proposed, massive trebuchets were built, and Team Fluffy tied for first place. w00t!

And in an event which has me utterly convinced that i'm in a school full of geeks, there was this massive outdoor party, at which they played Ozone's dragostea din tei (yes, that numa numa song), and EVERYONE sang along.

H2G2

"So why haven't you been blogging proper posts?" I hear you ask. Well while i'd like to say "I've been busy" or stuff like that, the truth of course is that i've been having too much fun.

"So why are you blogging now?" would be the next logical question, to which of course the answer is "Because I have 2 midterms next tuesday."

Which of course is the same logical process which made me watch Episode 4 of Star Wars last Thursday, before my Math Midterm for which i was panicking a few hours earlier. Good stuff, and it's really awesome how a story can carry with so little of all that modern snazzy special effects and so on and so forth.

But wait, you say, weren't you Panicking for your math midterm during the movie?

Well I would be, if i had not taken some advice from the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy's movie. Which was one of the more enjoyable ones i've seen lately: Even if i knew the whole plot, or perhaps BECAUSE i knew the whole plot. And so did quite a few of the geeky audience in that half-filled theatre of AMC. Without leaving too many spoilers, the movie was pretty addictively laughable, with classic brit humo(u)r, except for how the heart of gold looked like a gigantic eyeball. Floating around in space. Which if you think about it is kinda vitreous humor-sy, except less viscous, and less funny. But anyway, for those of you who haven't watched it yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??

For it to open in Singapore, you say? Aww.

A Taurus is come.

Vroom. After careful contemplation, a Taurus is newly purchased. Christening ceremony soon!

INFJ

Hmm so i've changed slightly since my ISFJ days a year or two ago. Not terribly a lot of difference, though, i am still the me i was.

The code's really messy so here's just the bare-bones of it:

You scored 36% I to E, 42% N to S, 23% F to T,  and 42% J to P!
Your type is best summed up by the word "counselor", which belongs to the larger group of idealists.  Only 2% of the population share your type.  You are so empathic that you often know what others need before they know themselves.  You are a complex person who can deal with complicated issues and people, almost prefer to, as you love problem solving.  You can be something of an idealist or perfectionist, and should try to take yourself a little less seriously.
You are a supportive and insightful romantic partner, encouraging your mate to have dreams and work hard to make those dreams come true.  Because you are so creative, you have a wealth of ideas to help them toward those goals.  You need harmony so much that you are driven to resolve conflict quickly, as long as the terms don't violate your ethics.  You feel the most appreciated when your partner admires your creativity, trusts your inspirations, and respects your values. It is also vitally important that your partner be open and emotionally available - in other words, that they be willing to share themselves completely.
Your group summary: idealists (NF)
Your type summary:  INFJ
