So all of a sudden the grass managed to spring up from the sodden earth and shine its glorious chlorophyll-tinted light over the whole university. Spring is in the air, Green is the color of the day, and it's nice and warm again. Happy happy joy joy. Sortof. Until the thunderstorms come and the temperature changes and the grass suddenly looks like it's been planted over spring break.....
But still, the sun is shining brightly, the grass is still green (even if it might be painted) and there's music in the air! Printemps est ici.
Meanwhile new webspace has been procured, and preparations are underway for a shift... right after i finish all my homework, get the SAMSU website up and running, and figure out a way to tell the races of all these random judges...

It's that Spring Thing
I can't believe school is starting already, but it is! And this quarter promises to be one full of new challenges and experiences. Now i'm doing 3 totally new courses, and PE, and have a job-thing, and have new webspace, and have new SAMSU committee responsibilities. Phew. This blog is going to move over to new webspace soon, too, as soon as i can find the time to get it done.
At any rate, spring break was really fun and amazing. New places, old faces. And the remainder of break in Chicago was productive too, i've finally visited the Art Institute properly and watched the LOTR extended edition DVDs, and cut my hair, and met even more friends... I'm thankful for all this. I'm really lucky in some ways, and now that i have time to relax and look back and take stock of it all, I'm glad for it all!

Hail and hearty soups
So i decided that i should reduce the bandwidth requirements of loading my blog page for a while, and cut down on the photos..... so here goes.
Today we went to the empire state building, the most monstrous commercialized entity i've set foot in for a while. The only thing that beats it would be times square, and that's not so bad because there's more space than the ESB. This would be a whole series of people waiting in line to spend money while being inundated by more attempts to get them to spend money. Sights and sounds. Thank goodness there were no food smells! Got to the top, only to get pelted by wind and hail, which was actually quite fun.....for about 5 minutes. Although admitedly, Adela was right about the weather getting worse as the day went on, which was a rather unfortunate thing to be right about. =P
So after a really good cheesecake lunch (Thanks aya) and wandering around toys R us with jem (i don't wanna gwow up, i'm a Toys R us kid) and marvelling at the amazing technology of interactive floors which work via shadows, *resists posting picture, or in fact, video* i went for my 4th and final musical of this trip: Good Vibrations. Which, as you probably know, is a beach boys song. Think Grease. Now think Grease with sun and surf. And bikinis. And funky dances which unfortunately require rather more ballet-ish skillz than the funky hand movements to the Grease songs. More songs from childhood, more memories, more good times. =) I'm addicted to musicals now, which is a pity, coz
1) I'm leaving new york
2) I'm running out of money
Which is such a sad thing. Time to save up money for that air ticket home..... even if MAS is paying for it eventually.
Back in Chicago tmw, but nowhere near my locked dorm. Pity.

NYC
Fight Fight Fight!
So in response to a post on a certain friend's blog with lots of food on it, i must post a riposte:

Singaporean and Malaysian food. Got that here.

And the biggest pasta in my life.

And cool frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity.

And a waterfall. Can eat or not? cannot. Chio or not? Chio. Note the ppl at the side for scale. It is how big la!

Cor-knell
Cornell is beautiful. Blogspot ate my post. Grr.
So after travelling up 6 hours to cornell, and all the way up the McGraw Clocktower, we witness the most amazing sunset I've viewed in recent time. The camera cannot even begin to capture the colors.

Ya then cornell also got other balls of fire. Like burning a freaking witch. A regular conflagaration. A dire fire. A 1337 heat.

And got geese. Luckily, the goose wasn't quite cooked yet. The cat wasn't out of the bag. Every dog had its day.

Isn't it amazing how people nowadays feel like they can just say nothing substantial on their blogs and let the pictures speak for themselves? I mean, after all, pictures say a thousand words, and the following is just gorges.

And yes after a day of walking around Cornell, what better way to end it than by celebrating Weelee's birthday with a completely random surprise?

Yes ok so it's sad that i'm too irritated at blogspot to conjure up that nice verbose description of today. Just to sum up, i guess, Cornell = water bodies + fire bodies + rock bodies + fowl bodies + taupoked bodies + drunk bawdies (well ok not really).

I heart NY
Spring break is here! So to the people back in the reg, my appologies, but here are some pics from day 1:

Is a shot of Times Square in the day. Man is it crowded.... And all the business people eat lunch at the same time as we chose to, the selfish bastards.

The seagulls get blown around by the wind so much they're like gigantic hummingbirds. Nice sunset too, and a water body is always good!
Now bumming in calvin's place thanks to his generosity, him and raymond have been really nice and bringing us around, we'd so get lost otherwise, I felt like how the Madison ppl must've felt when they came to chicago and saw the transportation system. Man is this place complex! And it's huge too. I think we could spend 2 weeks here just exploring manhattan itself.
sights seen so far:
times square
wall street (with the NYSE and its little police squad attached to it and the cordoned off road in front of it, and the bull, too)
the esplanade off the east (?) river.
CHINATOWN!
But man, is NY full of hustle and bustle. The plane was full of businessmen just raring to zip off it, and were super kancheong standing up and getting their bags even before the doors were open..... sort of reminiscent of a flight full of singaporeans, only it's worse since the aisle is so narrow. hmm. Broadway is just......awesome. The thought that a theatre could be playing the same show for years and years and still sell out is simply incredible. And i mean, above all, it's NEW YORK! And there's much more to see. More tomorrow, it's about the point in time where i start to regret taking a flight you had to wake up at 5am for.....
To all the reggers still slogging away for finals......ganbatte!!

Finals are next week
Which of course means

File picture: The pool master taking a shot with aid of the magic fingers
- One should go to the $5 performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance
- One should celebrate many birthdays and spend all day making presents
- Note that i'm nice and there is no hyperlink in the above point
- One should definitely go to Clarke's one night at 1am for supper
- Perhaps one shouldn't post such stuff on one's blog to protect from the ire of fellow students who have more interesting finals than a stats final with a 2 sided cheatsheet allowed?

Where's the coffee
screwing up my bio clock?
Where's the chai of my desire keeping me awake?
all i can do is listen to the tick tock
while wondering if my alertness is fake.
So much for going to sleep early and waking up early, this is a little -too- early...........Although i guess no time's a bad time for Mind.

Atan to Earth
Note to self:
If ($homeworkdue == "stats practice paper, stats problem set, 1 page mind response paper, 7-9 page hume paper, 5-6 page mind paper, computing final project)
Then {pool.play = "until 5am";
pool.play.duration = "2 nights";
dumpling.make = "yes";
dumping.eat = "yes";
tangyuan.eat = "yes";
MAJNconcert.enjoy = "yes";
econstalk.attend = "yes";
SAMSUelections.walkover = "yes";
homework.do = "later";}
On the other hand, today was a really really nice day and for a change i went out and sat on bartlett quads enjoying the sun on my face, the wind in my hair, the wireless in my laptop, and my mind response paper. Until it got cold again. (damnit.)
