So last night I was at steamboat buffet with the youth again. Someone mentioned that shells of fried prawns can be eaten. And something came to my mind.
Do you know what will happen if one takes so much of those fried prawns with shells? And why?
Answer is.. bloated feeling. Why? 'Cause the prawn's shell is calcium carbonate (CaCO3). So when they reach your stomach, they will react with the acid of your gastric juice (HCl) and based on stuff that we learned in form 4, carbon dioxide (CO2) should be released. Hence, bloated-ness?
CaCO3 + 2HCl --> CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
Heh, interesting eh? I'm not a nerd btw.

From The Above.
A few weeks ago, I was assisting in an event and accidentally came in contact with this guy who I reckon is a doctor. After offering him the sample drink, he made me explain how the thing works and how can patients be benefited by it. With my usual presentation of medical info, light came and he said that he saw the potential right in me and i'm the one that he has been looking for. He straight away offered me a position in his company with almost triple my current pay. He tried persuading me over while my boss was watching from behind. He introduced himself as Colin and took my name card.
Everything sounds very attractive right?
He handed me some brochures and asked me to consider it. His offer is still open for me. Later that day when I went through the management of the company, only then I found out that he's a no ordinary man. For God's sake he's not just Colin or Mr Colin for that matter, but Dato' Dr Colin Lee. Omgosh right? And he's the Managing Director of the company and hospital. Gasp.
Anyway, guess what? I've rejected it.
I believe God's favour has been upon me and doors will be opened at all times. I'm still loyal to my current company :)
----

And yeap, June '09 that we've been talking about since last year's approaching! It's not an event or a show but the starting point, the turning point for Harvest Youth ministry to a young people's church, Harvest Youth Church.
And oh, did I mention Church? Yeap, we'll no longer be just a ministry or youth group to fit young people in so that they wont waste time elsewhere but we'll be running it like a church, seeing people's life getting impacted and be the salt and light in this city -- the City of Klang.
I believe God will not leave us where we are but He'll bring us to another level as He has been preparing us from yesteryears. I'm very excited bout it, so, do come join us! We're all a bunch of (really) friendly folks
---
Today I got myself a new pair of jogging shoes!

I'm so loving it (not so much of the design but the feeling when you wear it) and I can't wait to bring it to the tracks!
Thank you, Pharmalink for contributing part of these shoes (my birthday gift from the company)

Shattered, The Musical.
Although it was not the perfect-perfect, but I think it was very good. That's because we all put our 200% effort to it. Being so new and young, I think personally think that Harvest Youth, you guys did a great great job!
Give yourself a pat on the back, will ya? :)
And special thanks to Minghui's family (yes, Mingci, you're included!) as well as Sue-li and Yoong Kang that came all the way. Thanks so much for your support! Really appreciate it :) Your presence is an encouragement to me. Thanks!

And, Happy (belated) Birthday, princess! :)
Can't wait for the date ^^

Youth Sunday.
If you take a look at the time now, its 5.57am on a Sunday morning!
No, I didn't wake up early. I haven't even gone to bed yet. We'll be having our first Youth Sunday later where the youth church will take over the Sunday service for the very first time! I'm very thrilled right now and I believe God would use us to show everyone that we, as young as we are would also serve Him, worship Him and we're real with our passion for Him.
I believe most of you have heard me mentioning bout my youth (Harvest Youth) so many times and prolly some of you might wonder what we do when we meet together. Here's a video clip bout what what we do in youth that I've compiled all night.
Enjoy it!

New Hope, New Beginning.
To me, I personally believe that new year represents new hope, new beginning. So, I just wanna encourage all of you to let go whatever you had in the past and strive for what's ahead. Like how Pastor Ryan puts it, burn the bridge behind you as you move forward. Let the past be your past; an experience to mould you and to push you further. Try not to have any "if onlys" seeps into your life, they will not help you in anyway, trust me.
I've known Jesus for 7 years now and I thank God that He has been watching over my life for all these 7 years. Like everyone, I've fallen so many times. I've even given up myself alot of times but it was Him who picks me up everytime and bring my life to another level. He taught me how to love, He taught me how to care, He taught me how to give just like Him when I don't know how to. I believe even till now I'm still not good at doing what I've just mentioned but I believe He's still at work moulding me and transforming me to be more like him each day. Like it or not, you have to be patient with me because God is not finished with me yet. Heh!
I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask for forgiveness if I've offended any of you in any way throughout this year or in the past. Thank you for bearing with all my nonsensical behaviour in anyway. I believe this year is gonna be another year of breakthrough! Amen?
So let's strive forward together and let Him shines in us and through us! =)

Happenings..

Raub -- The TransformUs camp.
God's presence was so strong and evident in every session. 150-160 young people were so hungry and thirsty for His touch and He touched them in His very own way in every session.

part of the worship team
The praise and worship sessions were superbly awesome; the sessions by Pastor Gaious Lawrence, Pastor Steffen and and Pastor Benjamin were awesome;

the games (obstacles course, canoe-ing, high ropes and flying foxes, handicaps game and telematches) were also awesome.

Orange!
So much for being a 'camp doctor' so to speak, many unavoidable injuries took place too. Not to mention muscle-aches in everyone's not-so-fit body. Good experience I would say.

23 young people gave their life to Christ just an hour before we left that place. We learned how to discern and listen to the Holy Spirit and now most of us can listen! It is really awesome I tell you to be living in His guidance!

12th December 2008
We had a combined cell Post Camp Celebration at Babe's house ala potbless. We all had our shares of the 3Fs --- Food, Fellowship, Fun!

Babe feels that Mun Wah was checking her out here.

Many shared their experiences and what they gained from this camp. Basically almost everyone shared including those who hardly open their mouth. I'm really blessed and encouraged by what everyone shared especially Alex's. God has definitely been so real to everyone in the camp!
I like how xuewen aptly put these; a pat on your back, Harvest Youth!

13th December 2008
Monash Open Day --- I volunteered to be the student helper there. The expected crowd was around 2000 people.
It has been great just being able to talk to people or bringing them around Monash. It feels so good to bless them with what you have and what you're capable of and I received alot of comments from those people outside that Monash people are all so friendly.

Student helper team for Campus Tour
Thank you so much people for being a bunch of helpful and great team. This ever-ready-to-serve attitude definitely eases the role as a team leader. Thank you so much for making it a fun day!

14th December 2008
MGS Primary Alumni gathering was held at Windmills, Aeon ala buffet.

Time really flies. It was 10 years ago when I was in Pn Peh's standard 6 class and now, even her youngest daughter has finished her standard 6. Amazingly, the teachers still look the same.
About 60 people turned up and it was a great time catching up with friends and teachers. Thanks for coming and making it a successful one.
p/s: And thanks so much, Jeff for crashing my party.

Daddy daddy.
This is a very last minute slide presentation put together (I was told to do the compilation only at Sunday, 12am) and we had to present this in church at 1030am the same day. How last minute...
It's a simple message from some of the youth to their dads.
Disclaimer: You may not understanding the starting part of this presentation if you're not from Harvest because it is an inside joke (based on the presentation by Uncle Gary on Mother's Day). And everything was created just for entertainment purposes and not to portray anyone in real life.
(Remember to turn on your speaker when you watch this clip)
We love you, Daddy.

Bukit Cerakah
While the rest are away for Church Camp, the left behind (us) went to ber-bonding in Bukit Celaka Cerakah.
It's a beautiful recreational park in Shah Alam. And yeah, it's all about back-to-nature.
In order to avoid aimlessness (I get questions like, mk, what are we gonna do there??), I came out with an explore race where they have to figure out the items in list and get a picture of them and come out with a creative story line combining the pictures together later on. Anyway, I doubt anyone completed the task. Takpe, janji they had fun.
Most of us, excitedly started out with renting their bikes.
And with the hilly route, most of us ended up bringing the bicycles up instead of the bicycle bringing us up (if you get what I mean).
I thought it'd be tiring (and too far) to walk, so cycling would be a brilliant idea. But nope, its sooooooooo tiring! And not fun. Correction: only coming down the hill is fun and not the other way round.
Porcupines
Visited some parks like the animal parks and all. Mayvern refused to move on to other parks once she stepped into the animal park.
We met for lunch by the lake and after lunch, Amelia led us with some songs.
Amelia (in green) leading us
When was the last time you guys sang The more we get together, Yesus Pokok and Hari Ini along with the actions? Sunday school?
It was so fun this time because everyone was so sporting and open and EVERYONE did the actions!
Visited the 4 Seasons House (It's Spring now!) and as usual, people mempelacurkan diri kepada kamera from time to time.
Took a groupie picture at 3.30pm and left back for church.
Jonathan (left) and Sean (right)
By the way, do they look alike? Mind you; they're not blood related, they don't know each other -- and it's just a random bumping into each another.
Even Auntie Sherlee (Jonathan's mom) thought that Sean was her son and started calling Sean (not her son) who was cycling to come but he didn't bother her. She had a shocked when Jonathan (her son) cycled past her after that.
Jonathan is from our church and John is Pastor Ryan's nephew who came along (a separate group).
---
Felt the fatigue only when am back home. I felt that my body doesn't belong to me anymore and as if it's out of my control.
I also found myself with two distinct skin colour tones. A very obvious one. Aloe vera was of much help for my slightly-burnt face.
Overall, it's a wonderful get together. I heart my youth group!

Mom Owns Today!
As usual the youth church and children church would come out with something for occasions like Mother's day and whatnot.
This time, the youth presented the song "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban accompanied by three violinists and a pianist. After the second transposition, we paused. Every kid read out their messages for their mom (with piano playing as background music).
This is Mun Sheung's (please don't mind her broken English, paiseh only)
Mummy, I like your hugs. It's soft like cotton and warm as a love angel flying everywhere.
Your advice and scold is meaningful to me.
You still love me whenever I am lazy or bad.
I am very upset when your age is increasing and you will leave me.
Seriously, I can't live without you.
You light up my life, you make me born into this world.
You cook my favourite dishes, you take care of me when I am scared.
But I only just did a little thing and bring problem to you.
I really hope you don't hate me.
I am very touched of your love.
And I LOVE YOU!!
-originally written by Chee Mun Sheung, '08-
Then the choir continued another round of chorus and ended the song. No doubt tears welled up in most mothers' eye (and non-mothers too). Mom, I bet you're proud of us! =)
---
Yesterday Xuewen asked what I got for mom.
We got her this:

Yeap, a plant. Nothing significant right?
Not really.. a closer look for you.

It was just a seed when we bought this. We planted it, watered it and grew it.
We cannot afford diamond and gold for you, mom but I bet this is one of the greatest gifts you ever had. It's the thought (along with heart) that counts right? =)
Just because,
&
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Awesome.
I remember counting down the days of my part time with Sue-Li just that day. And without realizing, it's over. It. is. over! (Finally!)
These are some of the food we had (for lunch) throughout our part time days.Clockwise -- tomyam (thumbs up!) | black pepper chicken chop | sharkfin noodle | nasi lemak ayam kapitan.
They are yummy and irresistible (especially the tomyam!) . That explains the extra bulge on my lower abdomen.

I usually dread my Mondays.
But this week's Monday isn't the case. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the entire week. Now I believe the power of proclamation.
Well, nothing can change the fact that it is Monday, right? Just that Sunday, I made a promise with someone to make the best out of it. Like she'd said, "Promise is a promise, cannot be broken."
Now, I really thank God for her.
---
Today/yesterday was another great day! I officially started school today/yesterday and the first class I attended was a practical class -- Pathology Lab.
We're focusing on Haematology (studies on blood) for these few weeks. So, lab practicals will involve blood for sure.Preparation of blood films -- lancet | pricked
middle finger | blood drops on slides | blood films ready to be stained
The silly me actually swabbed my finger with alcohol and only found out later that the skin on my finger tip is hard, thanks to guitar. So, had to swab another finger.
My finger got pricked 3 times just to get my practical done. Ouch.
---
Oh btw, according to my latest timetable, I can finally attend Monash's CF. Awesome!
Attended Sunway College's CF just now with Xuewen and Michael. I'm soooooo looking forward to attend Monash's CF next week!
It's just so exciting even to just think bout it!
And I can't wait for Youth Church this Saturday.

Badminton tomorrow, tentatively 2 - 4pm in Klang. Anyone?

Could it be a prophecy?
Haven't been chatting with people that I used to chat with.
Everyone seems busy, everyone seems so distanced.
Sigh.
---
This morning, I woke up with a dream.
I dreamt that Harvest Youth came out with a second service.
They're on Friday afternoons.
In that dream, I was praying with a few leaders on a Friday morning. Then, Mun Wah came up to me.
"Jie, get ready for youth service soon"
"Huh? Service? What service?"
"You don't know meh? Other than our usual Saturday youth services, now Friday afternoon also got services edi"
So many unfamiliar faces (which is very good). Actually I don't know anyone there.
Most are schooling kids. As in, secondary school kids?
A new worship team altogether. The drummer was a girl, an Indian girl, I think.
Sher Ri was the worship leader that day. The worship service was about to start. Then she asked me to help her with guitar.
Instead, I played the bass guitar instead of my usual semi-acoustic guitar. I don't know why. Dreams, maybe?
But it was a great time worshipping God.
Then Pastor Alan shared with us from his seat. He doesn't sit at his usual front seat, he sits somewhere in the middle with the rest of the crowd. He's like one of us. He shares the Word with his heart.
Everyone was very blessed. It was a big crowd. And everyone yearned more for Him.
Then I was awaken by a text message from Sher Ri.
Was it merely a dream? An unfulfilled desire? Or is it a prophecy?
Where the younger generations rise up and take their place.
Our usual Saturday evening's service got so filled up that there isn't any more spaces for the new ones. That will be a service for the young adults or college students like us.
The secondary school students are all so hungry for Him.
Because only Jesus, the living bread can satisfy us. Amen?

The sudden craving.
Badminton, anyone?

Retrospect of 2007.
Time flies. They really do!
Year 2007 has been quite a year. There were many first times. So, a year at a glance..
Beginning of this year, I worked as an intern in a 5-star private hospital. How blessed!
And was entrusted with big responsibilities by the head the medical lab. God's favour was there!
For the first time, hands-on experience on a real human eyeball and other specimens. Faeces?
left eye ball.
Early this year also, had a reunion with all my childhood friends (along with their parents) I grew up with. It was 5-6 years since I last met them.
The reunion was surely a good time!
This year, I got closer to a few people. Night chats bridge closer friendship along with an increasing amount of craps and junks. Junks are not healthy, nevertheless, they're still good.
xuewen & amelia
nilimpa
joyphua.
I had a totally opposite first impression for each one of them and they prove me wrong as I get to know them better.
I can't believe my record of 6 hours chat with someone I only know for less than a month? You know, too fast a progress scares me off, sometimes. Okay, I'm not complaining. I'm quite thankful for this friendship actually, in a way.
This year, even as a Malaysian, there were so many first-time-places for me.
For the first time, I stepped my foot in Penang. Was there with the young adults and some families from Harvest. Yes, I'm a Malaysian (laugh all you want).
and then we flew to Kota Bahru with the college group. Our mission was to minister to the young people there and to bless them. But we got blessed instead. Many friendships were made.
girls at the Pantai Cahaya Bulan
Kota Bahru delicacy, khaojam.
And then Jonker Walk in Malacca with Auntie Janie and some of the youth
Jonker Walk
and to the Orchid Park with The Gang in KL.
.. and then we adjourned to admire the beauty of a fishing village, Pulau Ketam with The Gang right after the first semester last paper.
And also, for my first time to Genting without my family members. Went with my good good friends since secondary school. We took public transport there, public transport! How to rely on Malaysian public transport right? But we did it.
carol. i fen. mk. su ann
And oh, my cardiovascular system cannot really take "fun" rides like roller coaster. I just can't.
But since Su-Ann wanted to ride the flying coaster so much, and no one else wanted to go for the ride with her, I sacrificed myself in the end so that she won't be there alone, to accompany her.
For the sake of friendship, nevermind la. At the end of the ride, I felt that my lung has switched place with my kidneys. And I was too 'small' there. So when the coaster turns 360 degrees, my body kept knocking to every side of that metal piece causing bruises to my body.
And it was also my first time climbing rocks.
Fun. But I didn't know we need so much energy to pull ourself up when climbing. When I finally reach the ground, I could see both my hands shiver. Thanks to the extensive use of energy.
---
This year is also my first time stepping out of Malaysia (I've never even been to Singapore) and my first destination was Phuket. Was there with The Gang and it was really cool!
hotel's lobby.
maya bay.
First time away from home with friends.
First time snorkeling.
First time waking up at 6am to jog on the beach.
sunset at the beach
---
Talking bout food, there were many first time tries as well. It's common for us to have Chinese food, Malay food or Indian food. But this year..
... we had Japanese steamboat!
.. we had Korean bbq
... we had Indonesia's Ayam Penyek
ayam penyek
delicious cuisine from Ole Ole Bali
... and trip to the SS2 pasar malam with cousins!
curry/black pepper/tomyam fishballs.
and heaps of Jalan-Jalan cari makan with uni friends.
kiwi loh from KTZ, SS2
---
Other than that, many incidents also took place in 2007.
Like how the youth was splitted into college group and school-goers group and then merge back again.
last combined youth worship service before splitting.
Another would be the sudden death of my uncle
His death left aunt behind alone and helpless. But this surely bridge the bond closer between aunt and us. At least I'm closer to her now.
... and then mom has nose blocked for 6 months and finally was diagnosed with a growth. A huge growth!
Prayed over it and got it removed by operation. No scars, nothing. Dr Jesus is always amazing!
growth removed from mom before it was sent for biopsy test.
For a record, I stayed back to revise in uni until 3am.
and then continued revising in Jean Nee's house after that till 5am. Sounds like a nerd right? (I'm not, btw!)
Livita has been my constant companion during exam moment.
Being an urban kid, I actually pulled my car to the side of the road to look at the cows.
The white cow in front is the cow that got raped.
Yes, I literally witnessed a cow-rape-cow incident where the cow victim got mad and jumped onto the road. Lo and behold, a huge lorry from another lane couldn't stop on time while cow being cow (with cow brains), didn't know how to move backwards went into that lorry's lane and got knocked down.
I believe the cow's front limb were broken.
I seriously witnessed everything. It was a hit and run kinda incident as those cows were 'holy cows'. They are worshipped in the nearby Hindu Temple. Gosh.
So, a silly holy cow got raped and then got knocked?
Xuewen got so mad when I related this incident to her.
---
And this year, for the first time I stepped into the casino. FINALLY, I'm no more underage
and yet they still insisted to check on my IC wherever I go =(
---
And this year is also something different for me. I picked up tennis! Whee~~ =D
Thanks to Cheryl, I even have free tennis coaching. How blessed.
Cheryl, my tennis coach.
---
This year, I met a terrible accident. Had a head-on collision with another car when that guy was in the wrong.
It was so bad that he was so afraid that I died in that accident when he came down from his car to check out my condition.
His first sentence to me was "Sorry, it's my fault" and his next question was "can you breathe??"
It. was. that. bad!
Thank God for airbags. I survived the accident without any injuries except for chest muscle got a little compressed. So yeah, both my airbags came out.
the airbags.
---
This year was my first time highlighting (or do anything to) my hair.
My hair remained virgin until it's contaminated by the chemical-dyes just recently.
---
This year we also had a hands-on experience on the cadaver (dead bodies). It was really cool, I tell you!
cadaver (dead bodies)
---
This year is also my first time winning something from a contest that I join.
1GB thumbdrive
Okay, not like I always join contests. The last time I joined was in primary school. And I didn't win anything =(
---
And its this year that for the first time I offer to fetch someone back to her hotel in KL where I don't even know the way. In the name of friendship, I guess it was a good try.
So many things happened this year. So many first times, as said. I just wanna thank God that He was there for me throughout my journey. No doubt there were many low times this year, I still want to give Him all the praises and I believe I'm made stronger.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all! God has got a great and exciting plan for you in the coming year.
I'm really excited, aren't you?
